On average, players can expect to use around 20-25 Chromatics for 4-socket items, 50-70 for 5-sockets, and 150-200 for a perfect 6-socket colored roll. These numbers are based on statistical probabilities converging with increased samples.
It's also important to consider breakpoints where using Jeweler's Orbs instead may raise your chances of the desired number of sockets/links quicker than spamming Chromatics.
