A corrupted variant of the Chromatic Orb, the Tainted Chromatic Orb rerolls socket colors on corrupted items. Unlike regular Chromatic Orbs, it only works on corrupted gear (cannot be used on normal/mirrored items). Ignores the item’s attribute requirements, making off-color sockets easier to obtain. Cannot create white sockets (use Tainted Orb of Fusing or Vorici for that).
These drop exclusively from Scourge league mechanics (now integrated into core game via corrupted content):
Corrupted Maps/Strongboxes: Rare drops from monsters or chests.
Delirium (Corrupted Rewards): Possible from currency reward tiles.
Legion (Corrupted Emblems): Rare chance from Legion encounters.
Heist (Corrupted Blueprints): Reward rooms with currency chests.
Trading: Prices vary (typically 1–5 Chaos Orbs in trade leagues).
Apply directly to corrupted gear to randomize socket colors.
Ignores attribute bias: Strength/Dex/Int requirements don’t affect color rolls.
Example: Rolling blue sockets on a Strength-based chest is equally likely as red.
Best for off-color setups: Ideal for builds needing non-native colors (e.g., spellcasters using armor-based gear).
Equal weight for red/green/blue sockets (no attribute bias).
Each socket rolls independently:
3-socket item: ~11% chance for all 3 sockets to match a desired color.
6-socket item: ~0.1% chance for all 6 to match.
No white sockets: Use Vorici in Research Betrayal or Tainted Orb of Fusing instead.
Pair with Tainted Jeweller’s Orbs: Reroll socket numbers first, then colors. Cheaper than Vorici bench for off-colors on corrupted items. Avoid on already well-colored gear—randomness can ruin existing setups.
