What is PoE Tainted Exalted Orb?

The Tainted Exalted Orb is a special corrupted currency item that randomly modifies corrupted items. Unlike regular Exalted Orbs, it works exclusively on corrupted items and has unpredictable effects that can either improve or degrade an item's modifiers.

How PoE Tainted Exalted Orb Work？

When used on a corrupted item, the Tainted Exalted Orb will either add a new random modifier or remove an existing one. The outcome is completely random - it might add a useful modifier to an item with open affixes, or it might remove a valuable existing modifier. The orb cannot change an item's rarity (it won't turn a magic item into a rare) and only affects explicit modifiers, leaving implicits unchanged.

How to Farm Tainted Exalted Orb in PoE?

Tainted Exalted Orb has restrictions on where or how it can drop. Tainted Currency have a chance to drop from Beyond monsters, and is guaranteed to drop several random Tainted Currency from Beyond bosses.

• Beyond Monsters – Have a low chance to drop Tainted currency.

• Beyond Bosses – Guaranteed to drop multiple random Tainted currencies, including Tainted Exalted Orbs.

• Scourge League Mechanics (if available) – Scourge monsters also drop Tainted currency.

• Corrupted Strongboxes – Vaal Orb’d strongboxes can drop Tainted currency.

PoE Tainted Exalted Orb Drop Rate

Tainted Exalted Orbs are among the rarest Tainted currencies. While Beyond bosses guarantee some Tainted currency drops, the chance of getting a Tainted Exalted Orb specifically is quite low. Regular Beyond monsters can drop them but at significantly reduced rates compared to bosses.

Can Tainted Exalted Orb Remove Implicits?

A key feature of Tainted Exalted Orbs is that they never affect a corrupted item's implicit modifiers. They only interact with explicit modifiers (prefixes and suffixes), so players don't need to worry about losing valuable corrupted implicits when using this currency.

What is the Best Use of Exalted Orbs?

Adding a modifier to a corrupted rare item with an open affix. Gambling on corrupted jewels (since they can’t be modified normally). Trying to improve a corrupted unique that turned rare (via Vaal Orb).
