Diablo 4 Season 3 Tier List - Best Class & Builds in D4 Season 3 (1.3 Patch)

1/5/2024 4:06:08 PM

As Diablo IV's Season 3 approaches, a reordering of class power seems inevitable. With this Diablo 4 Season 3 Tier List, we make an early prediction for class and build meta in the 1.3 patch!

D4 Season 3 Tier List - Diablo 4 S3 Class & Build Meta Predictions

With the expected heavy nerfs to the currently overpowered HotA Barbarian and Ball Lightning Sorcerer builds, the Season 3 meta is predicted to shift drastically away from these dominating playstyles. Classes and builds that can offer new strengths in mobility, burst damage output, and survivability through means like movement skills, high crit damage, and tankiness respectively seem poised to rise in their place. However, with perfect balance unlikely, only a small number of new options may overtake the others initially until further changes. Regardless, adaptation to the ongoing character tweaks and emerging successful strategies through experimentation and flexibility will be keys to success for Season 3, as the top meta remains difficult to define conclusively before the start.

1. Barbarian (S Tier)

The Barbarian's S-Tier status is under threat due to the expected nerfs aimed at addressing the overpowered HotA build. Yet, buffs to iconic abilities like Whirlwind and Rend may preserve the class's high rank by diversifying viable playstyles and maintaining its competitive edge.

D4 Season 3 Best Barb Builds

  • Double Swing Barbarian (S-Tier) - The Double Swing Barbarian is a strong build for crowd control. With it, you slice through your enemies, leaving them with no chance to escape. Your shouts also support you in your endeavor and strengthen you.

  • Upheaval Barbarian (S-Tier) - The Upheaval Barbarian slams his hammer into the ground and pulls it out again. His talent propels debris forward, hitting your enemies and causing damage. A perfect build to annihilate your enemies with heavy AoE damage.

  • HotA Barbarian (A-Tier) - The Hammer of the Ancients is a powerful build for the Barbarian, with which you can crush your enemies. Your shouts empower you, while your hammer blows cause a deadly quake, pulverizing all nearby enemies.

2. Druid (A Tier)

Sitting comfortably in A-Tier, the Druid class could see an upswing with buffs to underused abilities such as Landslide and Lightning Storm. These enhancements have the potential to solidify their place in the A-Tier or even propel them to S-Tier status by offering more strategic diversity.

D4 Season 3 Best Druid Builds

  • Stormclaw Druid (S-Tier) - With the Stormclaw build of the Druid, you shred your enemies as a werewolf. You use your hurricane and then leap from group to group to destroy them in a wild fashion. Appropriately, your Blood Howl helps you survive longer.

  • Pulverize Druid (S-Tier) - With Pulverize, as a Druid, you can smash your enemies to the ground with your Werebear or Werewolf form. Handy when you have to fight against many enemies or individual bosses.

  • Werewolf Tornado Druid (S-Tier) - For this build, you almost only need one button. As a summoner, you call forth tornadoes that annihilate your enemies and provide buffs to make you and your companions stronger. Great for solo and group play.

3. Sorceress (A Tier)

The Sorceress, adept in harnessing the elements, may have to bid farewell to the unchallenged reign of Ball Lightning due to its taxing nature on servers. Nevertheless, anticipated buffs to spells like Meteor and Incinerate could offset this nerf, allowing the Sorceress to maintain its A-Tier ranking or reach new heights.

D4 Season 3 Best Sorc Builds

  • Ball Lightning Sorcerer (S-Tier) - The Ball Lightning build allows your ball lightnings to orbit around you like planets. They hit enemies while you move through them and protect yourself with defensive skills in melee combat. A strong build for both solo and group players, but you must have experience.

  • Arc Lash Sorcerer (S-Tier) - The Sorceress's Arc Lash is a disastrous means to defeat many enemies with devastating area damage. Very strong against numerous enemies, but must be used correctly.

  • Firewall Sorcerer (A-Tier) - With the Firewall build, you create multiple walls of fire around you and watch as they burn your enemies. Perfect for roasting many enemies in dungeons.

4. Rogue (A Tier)

The Rogue's agility and lethal precision have it poised in the A-Tier, but with room for improvement. Enhancements to its specialized skills could very well provide the necessary push to ascend the tier list, emphasizing its role as a versatile and deadly combatant.

D4 Season 3 Best Rogue Builds

  • Twisting Blades Rogue (S-Tier) - One of the best builds around at the moment. You ensure that your screwblades are buffed as strongly as possible, thrust the daggers into an enemy and then move away to kill many foes at the same time on the return. It plays like a nimble assassin. Suitable for both solo and group play.

  • Piercing Shot Rogue (S-Tier) - With Piercing Shot, as a Rogue, you can hit many enemies in a row with your crossbow or bow. You use the safe distance to your advantage and thus maintain space from unnecessary dangers.

  • Deathtrap Rogue (A-Tier) - The evolution of the famous "Trapsin" from Diablo 2. You fight with strong crowd control and ensure that enemies are bound in one spot to "nuke" them there – to destroy them with high damage. Ideal as a CC-build for groups or solo.

5. Necromancer (B Tier)

Not mentioned previously, but crucial to the Season 3 tier list, the Necromancer's current C-Tier standing could see an improvement. The class may receive adjustments to enhance its summoning capabilities or bone spells, aiming to provide a more competitive edge.

D4 Season 3 Best Necro Builds

  • Infinimist Necro (S Tier) - With this build, you curse your enemies, draw them all into one spot, and make them literally explode, over and over again. With endless blood mist, you have some of the highest AoE damage in the game. Ideal for solo play with strong defense.

  • Bone Spear Necro (S Tier) - You rely on high, critical hits and the "vulnerable" status, which makes you a popular group member. Use Bone Spear to make all enemies vulnerable and then annihilate them. Disadvantage: you need good equipment. However, it is also well-suited for leveling. The build is strong solo but also works well in groups.

  • Blood Surge Necro (A-Tier) - With your Blood Surge, you can deal massive DPS and heal at the same time. A strong mix that not only makes you tanky but is also worthwhile for Nightmare Dungeons.

The shifts to the Season 3 meta in Diablo 4 will significantly impact the overall gameplay experience by encouraging more build variety, experimentation, and frequent strategy adaptation early on as power is distributed across multiple new class options and playstyles rather than concentrated in a few outliers. This lack of clearly dominant builds means players can focus on personal preference over perception of what's best to climb ranks, underdogs get spotlight time as strengths are realigned, team composition matters more, and balance receives attention through counterplay opportunities long-term - all of which sustains novelty, challenge, and freshness to maintain player engagement and interest throughout the season in a more dynamic and changeable metagame environment.
