D2R 2.4 Merc Changes - New Mercenary Runewords, Items, Skills, Stats in Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.4 Patch

In Diablo 2 Resurrected, it is common knowledge that the mercenaries of Act 2 are usually the best choice. With patch 2.4, Blizzard will try to change things, whether by bringing new skills and runewords to the mercenaries of Act 1, 3, and 5 as well as improving the mercenaries in general. Here are all the changes made to mercenaries in D2R.


D2R 2.4 Mercenary New Runewords & Items

As you know, in the 2.4 Patch, new D2R runewords and items will be added to the game so that players can enjoy Brand new gameplay in the ladder season. And mercenaries, as an important role in the game, will of course be updated in this regard.

Runewords - Some new Runewords such as Plague and Pattern are available for mercenaries on Act 1, 2, 3, 5. While the great weapon runeword - Plague is very useful for fast-hitting mercenaries such as Act V Barbarians or Act II Desert Warriors, since it comes with the powerful modifiers: -23% to Enemy Poison Resistance, 25% Chance of Open Wounds, 0.3% Deadly Strike, +1-2 All Skills, and Freezes Target +3. In additional, more runewords designed with mercenary support will be introduced in D2R 2.4 patch. 

Plague

                           20% Chance to cast level 12 Lower Resist when struck
               25% Chance to cast level 15 Poison Nova on striking
               Level 13-17 Cleansing Aura When Equipped (varies)
               +1-2 All Skills
               +20% Increased Attack Speed
               +220-320% Enhanced Damage (varies)
               -23% To Enemy Poison Resistance
               0.3% (0-29.7) Deadly Strike (Based on Character Level)
               +25% Chance of Open Wounds
               Freezes Target +3                        


Set Items - With the changes and improvements of sets in 2.4 patch, it is very likely we can expect more high-level set items for end-game mercenaries will be available. 


Diablo 2 Resurrected Mercenary Skill & Stat Changes

Mercenaries are receiving balance changes, like spell and stat buffs, and some of the new runewords will be effective on them. Mercenaries in Acts 1, 3 and 5 will become more efficient so that player usage is more varied than currently. The Act I mercenary receives new abilities while the Act 3 mercenary will gain more stats with each level. The Act V mercenary will have access to Battle Cry, but will also gain more hit points than the others. It should also be noted, oh joy, that the six capacities of the Mercenary of Act II will be accessible in any level of difficulty. No more going to Nightmare Mode to take a Power Mercenary for example.

Act I Merc Skill Changes - Rogue Archer

The objective of the improvements is to make the archer more efficient in AoE, but also in general to increase its DPS.

General

- The gain of stat and skills in each level of difficulty has been updated so that there is no longer any disadvantage in   up a mercenary in difficulty Hell compared to a mercenary in Normal.

Cold Arrow

- Adding Freezing Arrow

Fire Arrow

- Adding Explosion Arrow


Act II Merc Skill Changes - Desert Mercenary

If it used to be necessary to systematically go into a specific difficulty to find the mercenary of your choice, it is now over. All mercenaries will exist in the two highest difficulty modes.

General

- The gain of stats and skills in each level of difficulty has been updated so that there is no longer any disadvantage in up a mercenary in difficulty Hell compared to a mercenary in Normal.

- The Nightmare and Hell difficulty levels now offer the 6 different aura types in the selection menu, instead of separating them by 3 per difficulty level. There is no change to Normal.

Thorns Aura (Fight - Nightmare)

- The phasing of the "Thorns" level has been revised upwards and will now continue to extend beyond the highest threshold, up to the maximum level.


Act III Merc Skill Changes - Iron Wolf

The goal of the mercenary in Act 3 is quite obvious: to improve his effectiveness in high difficulty modes.

General

- The gain of statistics and skills in each level of difficulty has been updated so that there is no longer any disadvantage in up a mercenary in difficulty Hell compared to a mercenary in Normal.

- Increase in basic health points and their staggering by about 25% (life is now identical to that of the Rogue Archer)

- Increase in basic defense and its staggering by about 40% (the defense is now closer to that of the Rogue Archer)

- Increase in basic resistances and their phasing by about 20% (the basic resistance is now the highest among all mercenaries)

Lightning Skills

- Adding Static Field skill

- Increased Charged Bolt Level Scaling

- Increased chances for the Iron Wolf to Lightning

Cold Skills

- Cast Glacial Spike more often

- Increased Glacial Spike Level Scaling

- Increased Frozen Armor Level Scaling

Fire Skills

- Removing Inferno

- Adding Fire Bolt

- Increased chances for Iron Wolf to cast Fire Ball

- Change to Enchant - The Iron Wolf now Enchants over him, the player, and nearby allies


Act V Skill Mercenary Changes - Barbarian Warrior

Very neglected usually, the barbarian of Act 5 could potentially win the favor of some players. He will be significantly more resistant (more hit points than other mercenaries) than before, but can also weaken monsters with his Battle Cry.

General

- The gain of statistics and skills in each level of difficulty has been updated so that there is no longer any disadvantage in up a mercenary in difficulty Hell compared to a mercenary in Normal.

- Increase Life Baseline Scaling (life points are now the highest among all mercenaries)

Increase in basic defense and its scaling, reduction of scale in higher difficulty levels (basic defense is now the highest among all mercenaries)

- Increase Bash Level Scaling. This is no longer limited to level 80

- Increase the Stun Level Scaling. This is no longer limited to level 80

- Adding Battle Cry


So these are all significant changes and improvements of Mercenary in Diablo II Resurrected 2.4 patch we’ve known so far, anyway we do hope Blizzard will bring us more surprises.
