The “Gift of the Tree” event adds a bonus reward chest (Gift of the Tree Cache) when turning in Grim Favors to the Tree of Whispers. This bonus cache includes extra loot, crafting materials, and possibly Chaos Armor or Mythic-tier items (not yet confirmed but possible). Essentially, it’s an event-wide loot bonus for participating in Whisper objectives.
How Gift of the Tree Works in Diablo 4 Season 10?
Farm Grim Favors — you still need 10 Grim Favors to turn in at the Tree of Whispers. When you claim your cache, you’ll now also receive a Gift of the Tree cache, containing a “random assortment of items from all available collections.”This extra cache can include:
Essentially, it’s a double reward system where each 10-Favor turn-in gives an additional loot box.
Best Ways to Farm Grim Favors in Diablo 4
The event revolves around fast Grim Favor farming, and several efficient methods are highlighted:
1. PvP Zones (Most Efficient Early Method)
Each PvP area boss grants 8 Grim Favors per clear. There are two PvP zones on the map, meaning you can get 16 total Grim Favors per reset. PvP zones reset on an internal timer — not infinitely repeatable. Fastest burst of Grim Favors per time spent.
2. Nightmare Dungeons (The Current Best Exploit / Cheese)
Certain Nightmare Dungeons marked in red (Whisper dungeons) reward 5 Grim Favors. Normally, you’d need a Nightmare Sigil to open them — but currently, you can enter them as normal dungeons and still receive the 5 Grim Favors. You can farm Grim Favors without using sigils. Dungeon completions are extremely fast with optimized builds (1–2 minutes per run). This is likely unintended and could be patched soon.
3. Helltide Events
Killing the Blood Maiden boss grants 5 Grim Favors instantly. Efficient if you’re already farming Aether and Forgotten Souls simultaneously.
4. World Bosses & Legion Events
Boss objectives tied to Whispers now reward 5 Grim Favors even without using materials to summon them. Great for efficient turn-ins since no summoning mats are needed post-update.
5. Chaos Rifts & Infernal Hordes
“Seal Chaos Rifts” objectives grant 3 Grim Favors each. They are shorter but can be stacked between dungeon runs for small bonuses.

When you turn in your Whispers during the event, you’ll receive:
Gift of the Tree Cache Contents
Random gear from all Whisper reward categories (weapons, armor, jewelry, materials)
Chance for Greater Affix items
High chance for Veiled Crystals, Forgotten Souls, gold, and crafting mats
Possible Chaos Armor or Mythic Uniques (suspected but not confirmed)

Best Farming Tips for the Gift of the Tree Event Season 10
1. Focus on Farming Grim Favors — the Core Event Mechanic
The Gift of the Tree event revolves around earning and turning in Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers.
Each time you reach 10 Grim Favors, you can claim a Whisper Cache, which now has a chance to include a Gift of the Tree cache (bonus loot box).
2. Fastest Grim Favor Sources
There are several efficient activities to farm Grim Favors, but a few stand out:
PvP Zones (2 Areas)
Each PvP zone boss drops 8 Grim Favors on kill and turn-in.
These reset periodically, so you can repeat them later.
Run both zones for 16 Grim Favors per rotation, then turn in immediately.
Tip: PvP areas are the fastest and most consistent source early on. Do these first when the reset timer allows.
Nightmare Dungeons (NM Dungeons)
If a dungeon is marked with a red icon on the map, it grants 5 Grim Favors on completion.
You don’t even need to use the Nightmare Sigil — just enter it as a regular dungeon!
This is a major time-saver and currently one of the best farming exploits before Blizzard patches it.
Tip: Avoid dungeons with many doors (they slow down progress). Choose linear layouts for faster runs.
Helltides
Tip: Combine Helltide farming with the Tree event for double rewards — materials + Grim Favors.
Whisper Bosses
You no longer need boss-summoning materials to spawn them.
Just activate the Whisper objective, kill the boss, and get +5 Grim Favors.
These are fast and safe for solo players.
Tip: Prioritize bosses in open zones without multiple phases (e.g., no teleporting or invulnerable phases).
3. Efficient Farming Route Example
If you want to maximize rewards per hour, use this rotation:
PvP Zone #1 → Kill boss → Turn in → +8 Grim Favors
PvP Zone #2 → Kill boss → Turn in → +8 Grim Favors
Run 2 Nightmare Dungeons (red-marked) → +10 Grim Favors
Turn in at Tree of Whispers → Get Gift of the Tree cache
Repeat the cycle when PvP areas reset.
Each full cycle takes around 15–20 minutes with a fast build (like Sorcerer Infinite Teleport or Rogue Flurry/Dance of Knives).
4. Smart Turn-Ins
When you hit 10 Grim Favors, select Offensive or 2-Handed Weapon caches for higher-value rewards.
These have a higher chance of rolling Greater Affix diablo 4 items and potential Mythic drops.
The Gift of the Tree cache you get as a bonus can include items from all categories, so prioritize strong categories to multiply your odds.
5. Recommended Builds for the Event
Speed-clearing is everything here.
Top builds for Grim Favor farming include:
Infinite Teleport Sorcerer — best for Nightmare dungeon spam.
Rogue (Dance of Knives / Flurry) — now buffed, extremely fast in both PvP and Helltides.
Barbarian Upheaval / Charge — solid for Helltide and boss runs.
Tip: Equip Movement Speed and Cooldown Reduction gear to chain runs efficiently. Ignore loot until cache turn-ins to save time.
