PoE 2 Best Tablets & Map Juicing Strats (0.3.1)

10/8/2025 3:21:39 PM

The 0.3.1 patch for Path of Exile 2 introduced sweeping changes to the tablet system, removing the previous tower overlap mechanic and making tablets a direct part of your map farming at the endgame. Previously, tablets were applied through towers, requiring careful overlap setups to maximize rewards. Now, tablets are placed directly into maps, offering new flexibility, streamlined gameplay, and the chance to rethink what the “best” tablets really are. So today, we are going to sort out this Path of Exile 2 tablet guide, which covers the changes to tablets and mapping after the 0.3.1 patch, the best meta tablets for different goals, and new map juicing strategies for endgame farming.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.1 Tablet Changes

The major change in 0.3.1 is that towers are no longer required for the tablet application. Instead, tablets go directly into your maps, with the number of tablets you can use determined by how many mods your map has:

  • 1 mod: 1 tablet slot

  • 2-5 mods: 2 tablet slots

  • 6 mods: 3 tablet slots

Tablets now have a maximum of 10 uses rather than being tied to a set of maps around a tower. All your previous pre-patch tower setups have been preserved, so if you prepared in advance, you can get double benefit by stacking old and new tablet effects, though this will only matter for a limited time as those old setups run out.

The tablet system is now much more user-friendly: the game remembers your last three tablet choices and auto-applies them to new maps, so you don’t need to reselect every time you start a run. This makes it easy to switch between farming goals, whether you want more currency, experience, or specific loot.

PoE 2 Best Tablet Modifiers (Patch 0.3.1)

The tablet meta has shifted dramatically. Previously, quantity was king, players stacked as much as possible, often achieving 55% or more with triple-tower setups. Now, the maximum you can get from tablets is 10% per tablet, and with only three tablets, the total quantity is much lower than before. Meanwhile, modifiers like increased rare monsters and item rarity received massive buffs, some up to triple their previous values.

  1. Increased Number of Rare Monsters

    • Old range: 10–15%

    • New range: 15–40%

    • With three max-rolled tablets, you can get up to 120% more rare monsters. Most loot comes from rare monsters, so this is very strong, especially when combined with Breach or Essence content.

  2. Item Rarity

    • Old range: 7–10%

    • New range: 10–30%

    • Triple rarity tablets in every map have been outperforming quantity for many players. High rarity increases the chance for valuable item drops, and feels particularly strong in 0.3.1.

  3. Item Quantity

    • Old range: 3–7%

    • New range: 4–10%

    • While previously the king of juicing, quantity’s increase is now minor compared to other affixes. Still useful, but no longer the default top pick.

  4. Magic Monsters (Teeming)

    • Old range: 15–25%

    • New range: 25–70%

    • With high rolls, you can massively boost magic monster density, opening up new farming styles.

  5. Essence Modifiers

    • “Map contains additional essences” now goes up to two, and can be stacked with increased rare monsters for great essence farming.

  6. Ritual Modifiers

    • For ritual farming, prioritize “reduced tribute cost,” “monsters grant increased tribute,” and “additional rerolls at ritual altars.”

  7. Overseer (Boss) Tablets

    • These guarantee a powerful map boss and add +1 map level. Their suffixes can add significant quantity and rarity, making them very desirable for boss-focused farming.

Special Tablets

  • Visions of Paradise: Now a one-use tablet that irradiates a map, allowing it to be run twice (with and without irradiation). Especially useful for farming unique boss maps like Jade Isles.

  • Grand Design: Used on towers to instantly unlock adjacent special maps, still a one-use effect.

How to Upgrade Tablets

  • High rolls on rare monsters, magic monsters, and rarity are generally more valuable than mid rolls on quantity.

  • For bossing, prioritize overseer tablets with strong suffixes.

  • For ritual, use tablets that synergize with tribute cost and reroll mechanics.

PoE 2 Best Endgame Map Juicing Strategies (0.3.1)

With the old tower stacking gone, juicing maps is now more about optimizing your waystones and tablets for each run. The most successful strategies revolve around maximizing rare monster density and item rarity, with occasional use of quantity depending on your goals.

General Juicing Principles

  • Atlas Tree: Invest in nodes that boost explicit modifiers on waystones and enhance the effect of precursor tablets. Take points that increase rare monsters, pack size, and rarity, and consider nodes that double the effect of tablets.

  • Waystone Crafting: Use orbs of alchemy and chaos to get four or five mods, and apply omens that boost pack size, rare monsters, or item rarity. Desecrated mod selection is crucial—prefixes usually offer easier mods, while suffixes are riskier but reward higher percentages.

  • Tablet Usage: Always use the best available rolls for rare monsters and rarity. For breach-focused farming, stack breach and rare monster tablets. For rituals, use tablets that reduce tribute costs or increase tribute gains.

Best Map Juicing Strategy Setups

1. High Rares & Rarity Breach Tablet Strategy

By using the omen of chaotic monsters on fully exalted maps, aiming for strong rare monster multipliers, and targeting the best desecrated mods (particularly "Mark for Death" for item rarity), you can efficiently boost your loot. Instilling paranoia or fear further increases rare monsters and modifiers, and three quantity tablets (preferably 8% for cost-effectiveness) provide a solid base for extra drops. This strategy has been tested in a 50-map series, skipping any pre-juiced, overrun, cleansed, or biome-boosted maps, to set a reliable baseline for expected returns. Even with a character rarity around 100% or higher, outcomes have proven very rewarding, and the method scales well for those with different gear setups.

  1. Prepare Your Map - Use the omen of chaotic monsters on your fully exalted maps. This typically gives a baseline rare monster multiplier of at least 60–100%. Occasionally, you might roll low rare monsters, but most maps will land in the desired range.

  2. Instill Distills - Choose between three paranoia or two paranoia and one fear. This pushes your rare monster count even higher, some maps reach 154% rare monsters.

  3. Select Desecrated Mods - After instilling, desecrate the map and look for one of three top rarity mods: Mark for Death is the best, adding 40% item rarity; Abysses have additional pits and Abysses lead to an abyssal depth both provide 25% item rarity. If you don’t hit one of these, reroll or use the map for something else.

  4. Add Quantity Tablets - Use three quantity tablets per map. Two should be breach tablets with 8% quantity and extra monster density or additional rare monsters. The third can be an 8% quantity tablet with shrines or irradiation. There’s no need to buy 10% tablets, as 8% tablets keep costs down and have performed well in testing.

  5. Run Your Maps - This method was tested on regular maps with no prior tower effects, no abyssal overruns, no cleansed or corrupted areas, and without local knowledge for biomes. This ensures your results are a reliable baseline. For 50 maps, the investment was about 10 divines, while returns reached 51 divines, netting 41 divines in profit. Loot included divine orbs, perfect exalted and chaos orbs, omens, skill gems, splinters, and other valuable drops.

  6. Adapt and Adjust - This strategy works best with 100%+ character rarity, but players with 50–150% rarity have also reported strong results. Lower rarity will still give decent returns, though with some diminishing returns at higher gear values. Costs can be reduced further by skipping fear distills and sticking with paranoia.

2. Precursor Tablet Map Juicing Strategy

The strategy centers on setting up the atlas to boost the impact of precursor tablets, explicit modifiers, and content-specific nodes. By prioritizing nodes that increase the effect of precursor tablets and explicit modifiers for each tablet affecting the map, and always running three tablets per map, you can multiply the effects gained. Content farming can focus on different encounters such as asmir spirits, essences, strongboxes, or rogue exiles, each with its own set of recommended atlas paths and tablet choices. Preparing wastones with the right combination of modifiers, omens, chaos orbs, and desecration ensures a balanced spread of rarity, pack size, and content-related boosts. The method also incorporates emotions like grit or envy for additional rarity or drop chance, and makes use of tablets that grant increased chances to spawn your chosen content or add extra instances of that content. As tablets have become rarer and more valuable, focusing your farming around specific content and maximizing the related bonuses is an efficient way to gather both currency and rare items, while the strategy’s flexibility allows you to adjust for spirits, exiles, essences, or boss fragments as needed.

  1. Atlas Tree Configuration - Set up the top part of your atlas tree with nodes that boost precursor tablet effects and explicit modifiers on waystones. Choose the left and right nodes to increase effects of explicit modifiers, as each tablet affecting the map amplifies these effects. Add nodes for increased quantity and rarity of items, as well as unstable energies to further empower your waystones. Use precursor influence if you want to counter the decreased tablet drop rate, or prioritize rogue exile nodes for extra encounters.

  2. Content Selection - Decide on the content to farm: spirits and essences are found on the bottom right of the atlas, while strongboxes and rogue exiles require mimicking specific node setups. For as spirits, always select vivid spirits. For essences, focus on the node that corrupts essences an additional time. If you prefer strongboxes, stack as many as possible and boost their effects, aiming for double-open nodes and researcher strongboxes for currency drops.

  3. Waystone Preparation - Prepare waystones by using orbs of alchemy to get them to rare with four modifiers. Add exalted orbs to reach five modifiers, aiming for the right mix of monster packs, rarity, and explicit modifiers. Mix in omens, particularly omen of co rarity for high item rarity, though this step can be skipped if not available.

  4. Seasoning and Emotions - Use vertebrae from abusal monsters to add a green modifier to your map, then select the right seasoning for extra map item drop chance or item rarity. Add a distilled emotion, like grit from delirious monsters, to further increase item rarity.

  5. Tablet Application - Use tablets that offer 50-100% increased chance to contain your chosen content, or those that add extra targets (like additional as spirits or rogue exiles). For boss farming, pick tablets that empower map bosses with your target content. Combine effects for maximum content density and adjust based on available tablets.

  6. Running the Map - Enter the map and focus on finding and interacting with your preferred content, carefully following spirits or targeting rogue exiles. Combine spirits for bigger infusions and better drops, or manage strongboxes and essences as needed. Avoid defeating all rare enemies before spirits finish infusing, and open research strongboxes for currency.

  7. Specialized Strategies - For chaotic quantity, use chaos orbs to increase pack size and add liquid disgust for a higher chance of precursor tablets. Select high-quantity or high-rarity tablets for the run, and repeat for steady gains in precursor tablets and loot.

  8. Citadel and Tower Speed Farming - Seek out citadels by moving straight through the atlas, using towers to travel quickly. Prepare waystones with high drop chance modifiers, desecrate for additional bonuses, and grease with liquid envy for a further boost. Target maps with high waystone drop chance and tablets that enhance this effect. Defeat citadel bosses for valuable fragments, repeating the process for consistent currency income.

  9. Adjusting for Market and Build - Monitor the market for which content yields the best returns, switch between as spirits, essences, rogue exiles, or strongboxes as necessary. Adapt atlas and waystone setups to suit your build’s strengths and the current meta.

3. Ritual Farming Setup

For ritual-focused maps, prioritize mods and tablets that increase pack size and rare monsters for higher tribute. Use tablets that reduce reroll or defer costs for rituals to maximize your ability to fish for rare omens and high-value items. Defer everything valuable and reroll shops as much as possible, combining reduced cost tablets and tree bonuses allows for near-free defers and rerolls.

4. Essence Farming Combo

Stack increased rare monsters and "map contains two additional essences" tablets. Use atlas nodes that enhance essence rewards and double corruption or perfect essence chances. This combo is a currency-printing machine, especially with the increased supply of high-value crafting essences.

5. Quantity Setup

Despite the nerf, using three max-rolled quantity tablets with atlas nodes that double their effect can still yield high returns, especially for bulk farming and speedclear builds. However, rare monsters and rarity remain more effective for targeted currency farming.
