Best PoE 3.29 Legion Farming Strategy, Atlas & Build

July 27, 2026 POE POE Farming POE Leagues

Legion is a classic endgame farming mechanic built around frozen ancient armies activated via Timeless Monoliths. The Path of Exile 3.29 patch delivered a large-scale Legion revamp, removing several old reward sources while adding the brand-new Enshrouded Unique crafting system. This guide covers PoE 3.29 Legion critical changes, farming strategies, recommended Atlas passive setup, and suitable builds.

PoE 3.29 Legion Changes

The Path of Exile 3.29 update reshaped Legion rewards and mechanics significantly, with both new features and many removals.

Crystal of Permutation & Enshrouded Uniques

Four Crystals of Permutation exist inside the Domain of Timeless Conflict. Players can insert Enshrouded Items into these crystals. Once you fully charge an Enshrouded Unique by killing monsters within the Domain, interact with the crystal to transform the item into another Unique of the same item class. The new unique inherits a Vestigial implicit modifier from your original Enshrouded item.

Five Enshrouding Currency Crystals

Legion Generals inside regular maps drop five new currencies: Karui, Imperial, Maraketh, Templar and Vaal Enshrouding Crystal. These items apply the Enshrouded state to Uniques and cannot drop inside the Domain of Timeless Conflict.

Quality of Life & Mechanic Adjustments

  • When you free 90% of monsters in a Legion encounter, all remaining monsters, Sergeants, Generals and chests automatically break out of stasis.

  • Unrelenting Timeless Emblems have been deleted; existing ones convert into standard Timeless Emblems. All five Timeless Emblem types received revised monster scaling penalties, stacking buffs each time enemies revive.

  • Visual UI overhaul for the Domain of Timeless Conflict: floating reward icons above monsters are hidden. Reward progress now shows via lit small central crystals; one lit crystal equals three old reward icons. This change is cosmetic and does not alter drop rates.

Significant Reward Nerfs & Removals

1. Incubators and Timeless Delirium Orbs can no longer drop from Legion. Rog’s Incubator crafting option is removed. Existing items in Standard League remain usable.

2. Timeless Splinter drop rules reworked:

  • Splinters no longer drop outside Legion encounters and Kingsmarch Atlas Runner maps.

  • Regular Legion monsters (non-Sergeant, non-General) no longer drop Timeless Splinters.

  • Legion Generals drop more splinters on average. Sergeants and chests have lower drop chance but larger stack sizes when splinters drop. Map Item Quantity has weaker influence on splinter drops from Sergeants and chests.

3. Atlas passive rebalance: Emblematic passive now only gives a 0.3% chance for Splinters to turn into Emblems (down from 0.6%). Nearby small passive increases Timeless Splinter quantity dropped by Legion Generals. Two clusters (Logistical Support, Pillaged Treasures) lost their splinter duplicate bonuses.

4. Heist trinkets that once granted extra Legion loot now grant extra Gold instead. Heist equipment modifiers that duplicate Timeless Splinters are removed.

PoE 3.29 Legion Farming Strategy

Legion profitability heavily depends on your investment level, especially early league. The removal of Incubators heavily reduced baseline loot value for low-budget runs.

Route A: Map-Based Legion Farm (Most Common)

Low investment (Alch-and-Go): Not Recommended Early League

Without Legion Scarabs, raw alch-and-go Legion farming yields mediocre currency. Loot diversity is lower compared to previous patches, so your hourly profit will struggle to compete with Altar farming or standard eight-mod map strategies.

Medium/High Investment (Scarab Supported): Decent Option

Use Legion Scarabs to boost encounter quantity and monster composition. Recommended scarab combination:

  • Base Legion Scarabs to add extra Legion encounters

  • Legion Scarab of Officers: Spawn 5 additional Sergeants

  • Legion Scarab of Eternal Conflict (optional premium pick): Allow repeated breaking of stasis for scaling difficulty and rewards. Target T14–T16 red maps. Prioritize maps with open layouts for fast monster freeing. Focus your hunting targets: Legion Generals for Enshrouding Crystals and Timeless Splinters; reward-marked rare monsters for raw currency and divination cards.

Route B: Domain of Timeless Conflict (5-Way Legion)

Run Timeless Emblems to open the Domain of Timeless Conflict. This content is best for:

  • Fast experience gain for leveling characters to 100

  • Farming materials for Enshrouded Unique crafting via Crystals of Permutation

  • Note: Enshrouding Crystals do not drop inside the Domain; you must farm Generals in regular maps to get this crafting currency.

Core Legion Gameplay Tips

  • Rarer rewarding monsters spawn deeper inside the Legion formation. Move inward quickly after activating the Timeless Monolith.

  • Destroy Chests and War Hoards; they automatically free nearby stasis monsters in a radius.

  • If you allocate the Timeless Conflict keystone, the timer is replaced by a Schism progress bar. High-value monsters and chests contribute more progress to trigger the Legion fight.

  • Timeless Astrolabes can shape Atlas regions to guarantee extra Legion encounters with scaling difficulty and rewards.

PoE 3.29 Legion Atlas Tree & Passives (Modifiers)

The best PoE 3.29 Legion Atlas passives focus on boosting encounter spawn rate, reward quantity, splinter duplication, and encounter duration, while amplifying elite monster loot potential.

Must-Take Legion Atlas Passives

  • High Legion Encounter Spawn & Scarab Weight: Stack cumulative bonuses to grant maps +104% increased Legion Encounter spawn chance and 104% higher probability of dropping Legion Scarabs. This drastically improves mechanic uptime and self-sustained scarab supply, solving the early-league scarab shortage issue.

  • Logistical Support: Reward-bearing Legion monsters gain a 10% chance for 2 extra rewards, or a 20% chance for 1 extra reward if the first roll fails. Each additional reward also increases these monsters’ life by 50%, balancing loot buffs with moderate difficulty scaling.

  • Chain of Command: Adds 2 extra Sergeants to every Legion encounter and boosts Sergeant reward chances significantly. More Sergeants directly translate to more reward drops and splinter sources per run.

  • Pillaged Treasures: Grants all Legion chests an additional random reward, providing steady supplementary loot alongside splinters and exclusive drops.

  • Extended Encounter Duration: Combined node bonuses grant up to 60% increased Legion Encounter duration, offering more time to clear stasis monsters and collect all available rewards without missing spawns.

High-Impact Supplementary Nodes

  • Faction-Specific Spawn Bonuses: 60% increased chance for Templar army spawns and 55% increased chance for Maraketh army spawns in Legion encounters, expanding elite monster pools and unique reward opportunities.

  • Splinter Duplication & Emblem Conversion: 5% base duplication chance for all Timeless Splinters from Legion monsters and chests, plus a small chance to convert dropped splinters directly into Timeless Emblems. Additional node buffs raise splinter duplication rates for chests and monster drops separately for stacked gains.

  • War Supplies & Stasis Range Boost: Spawns an extra War Hoard per Legion encounter and increases the release range of stasis-locked monsters/chests by 120%, letting players collect more loot without full map traversal.

  • Stasis Damage Vulnerability: All Legion monsters take 50% increased damage while trapped in stasis, speeding up clearing and improving farming efficiency for fast-paced league starters.

  • General Spawn Boost: Nodes like Face Off raise Legion General spawn likelihood and enable dual Generals in eligible encounters, boosting high-value splinter drops from elite bosses.

Best Builds for PoE 3.29 Legion Farming

Legion demands fast movement speed, wide-area damage to clear packed stasis armies, and solid defenses to survive stacked reviving enemies. Two playstyles exist: map Legion farming and 5-way Domain levelling.

League Starter Picks for Legion

  • Essence Drain + Contagion Witch (Occultist): Strong screen-wide clear, good maximum hit protection and block chance. Consistent performance against dense Legion packs. Many players choose this starter for Legion, though some reports note performance falls off against high-health T16 endgame monsters. It generates steady currency to fund later build upgrades.

  • Cyclone Melee Builds (Berserker/Champion): Excellent tankiness, reliable sustained area damage. Works well for both map Legion and 5-way runs. The build easily handles repeated monster revives common with Timeless Emblems.

Mid & Late Game Legion Builds

Bow Deadeye is a top-tier movement and clear speed ideal for rushing through Legion formations to free monsters quickly. However, bow builds usually have low Effective Hit Pool (EHP), requiring careful gear investment to avoid sudden deaths against scaled-up Legion Generals. Popular long-term target for Headhunter to maximise 5-way efficiency.
