PoE 3.29 Best Reliquarian Skills & Builds (Leveling & Endgame)

July 16, 2026 POE POE Builds POE Leagues

Path of Exile 3.29, the Curse of the All Flame expansion, has arrived with a fresh wave of theorycrafting excitement, and one of the most talked-about topics is the reworked Scion's Reliquarian Ascendancy. After a lukewarm debut in 3.28, Grinding Gear Games has retooled this branch into something far more powerful and interactive. This guide walks through the reworked structure, ranks the top ascendancy skills, lists the best unique items to pair with them, and outlines viable builds for league start leveling all the way through endgame progression.

PoE 3.29 Reliquarian Skills & Build Guide

The Reliquarian is the newer of the Scion's two ascendancy branches, functioning as a collector of legacy and pinnacle-boss unique effects. Rather than gaining traditional passives, each notable copies a modifier from an existing unique item, letting your character benefit from powerful gear without actually equipping it.

Changes To Scion's Reliquarian Ascendancy in PoE 3.29

Point Distribution StructureThe Reliquarian follows the same odd point layout as the Ascendant. The first Labyrinth gives nothing meaningful; the Cruel Lab hands you two weak points; the Merciless Lab awards your first major node (the third point); the Uber Lab then finishes with the sixth-point major and your final two points.

Wide Selectors at Every TierEvery notable is a wide selector, giving five or more options per slot. You pick one option at the third point, one from either the top clump (spellcaster weapons) or bottom clump (attack weapons) at the sixth point, then one of several powerful capstones at the top.

Bloodline Trade-OffTaking the eighth-point capstone consumes all eight ascendancy points, meaning you cannot combine it with a Bloodline. Builds that want a Bloodline must stop after the sixth point and spend the last two points elsewhere.

Given all of that flexibility, the natural next question is a simple one.

Will Reliquarian Actually Be Good in PoE 3.29?

Yes! likely much better than in 3.28. Node values are higher across the board, and access to items like the Apostate, Dawnbreaker, Black Cane, Arakaali's Fang, and Melding of the Flesh at the ascendancy level opens play patterns that would normally require rare, high-cost pinnacle boss drops.

Why It Feels Different Now

  • You can benefit from pinnacle boss uniques while still using a rare item in the mirrored slot.

  • Meme skills like Burning Arrow of Vigor become playable when paired with the Apostate node for life stacking.

  • The Black Cane node offers massive flat physical damage for spell builds through Fantasmal Might.

  • Bow builds pick up unconditional chain and projectile scaling through Gloomfang and Shattered Divinity.

While no single node is best-in-slot for every archetype, the flexibility carries the class forward. With that in mind, let's rank the strongest choices.

Best Reliquarian Skills in PoE 3.29

Skill selection depends on which slot you're filling, so here is a ranked list of the strongest picks across all three ascendancy tiers.

1. The Black Cane (Sixth Point - Spellcaster Weapon)

Probably the best option in the entire ascendancy. Each summoned Phantasm grants Phantasmal Might, adding a large chunk of flat physical damage to your spells. Paired with Soulwrest as your actual weapon (which triggers level 25 Summon Phantasm on corpse consumption), a socketed Summon Phantasm Support gem, the Dark Monarch helmet set to Phantasms, and Congregation Support, you can reach roughly 62 Phantasms and around 4,000 average added physical damage on every spell you cast. If built carefully, this could easily be the build of the league.

2. Shimmeron (Sixth Point - Spellcaster Weapon)

This one is amazing. Grants 8% crit multi, 3% base crit chance, and 3% spell block per power charge. Feels like free Tempest Shield stacked on top of solid crit scaling. Stacks with tons of other effects and remains awesome with or without Void Battery equipped. A no-brainer pick for crit spellcasters.

3. Dawnbreaker (Third Point)

Incredibly strong defensively, but terrible early game, please don't take this at level 55. Twenty-five percent of cold, lightning, and physical damage taken as fire, including damage over time. Layered with Cloak of Flame, a timeless jewel with the same effect, or Sublime Vision, you can push toward converting nearly all incoming damage into fire. Respec into it late for endgame content like Uber Shaper, where boss penetration gets defeated by the damage type shift.

4. Gloomfang (Eighth Point)

Excellent and really under the radar at the moment. Skills chain plus one time unconditionally, and chained projectiles gain 20% of non-chaos damage as extra chaos damage. The chain being unconditional is what separates it from Shattered Divinity, which requires pierces to be consumed first. Fantastic for bow and projectile builds.

5. Arakaali's Fang (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

Bonkers early on, but gets outscaled late. Triggers level 20 Raise Spiders on kill. Each spider gives 15% increased poison damage and 2% increased attack speed. Combined with Dark Monarch set to Raise Spiders, you can reach 40 spiders, that's 80% increased attack speed and 600% increased poison damage as a passive engine. Poison dagger builds love this.

6. The Shattered Divinity (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

Bow and wand builds should look closely at this one. Grants 40 strength, 40 dexterity, and Summon Greater Harbinger of Directions skill. Provides +2 projectiles, +2 pierce, +2 chain, and +2 forks every 8 seconds for a 4-second buff. Base uptime is only 50%, but the ceiling is enormous if uptime can be pushed higher.

7. The Apostate (Third Point)

Incredible late game, but requires a life-stacking build entirely centered on this node. Converts armor-slot energy shield into life with a -12 life per level penalty baked in. At endgame chest pieces can hit 1,200 energy shield, so you often come out ahead on the swap and gain 30–50 strength and 20–30% all elemental resistances on top. Opens the door to life-stacking bow memes with Zoff's Nurture or Zoff's Inception paired with Burning Arrow of Vigor.

8. Melding of the Flesh (Eighth Point)

Unconditionally strong, though it falls off late in progression once Mageblood enters the picture. Elemental resistances are capped by your highest maximum elemental resistance instead of individually. Combined with Dawnbreaker and Cloak of Flame, one heavily scaled max resistance carries your entire mitigation profile. The -5 to all maximum elemental resistances drawback is manageable, especially with Ego's Aurora providing +5 max cold resistance.

9. Ahn's Might (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

100% to crit multi while at zero frenzy charges, plus 20% more accuracy at maximum frenzy charges and a -1 maximum frenzy charge penalty. Treat this as +100% crit multi with a "cannot use frenzy charges" trade-off, and it does more than that too. Great for builds that don't rely on frenzy scaling.

10. Vaal Caress (Third Point)

Very strong and very niche, but gets outclassed late in progression. Gain Onslaught for 20 seconds when using a Vaal skill, plus +2 to level of all Vaal skill gems. The plus two gem levels apply to both the Vaal and non-Vaal versions of a gem, giving roughly 15% more damage on strong Vaal skills. Good on Vaal Smite, Vaal Blade Flurry, and Vaal Venom Gyre setups.

11. Elevore (Third Point)

Strong early, falls off harder than Vaal Caress. Don't be afraid to take this early on and respec around your 4th Lab. Grants 25% spell suppression chance, 25% elemental ailment avoidance, and 200 life recovered on suppress. Pairs cleanly with a Storm Shroud jewel for full ailment immunity during campaign and early maps.

12. Al Dhih (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

Warcries cause corpse explosions that are really good, and this ascendancy unbinds the effect from the bad unique claw itself. Enemies taunted by your war cries explode on death for 8% of their maximum life as chaos damage, and war cry cooldown is set to 4 seconds. Works with slams and other war-cry-enabled builds.

13. Ngamahu's Flame (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

20% chance to trigger level 16 Molten Burst on melee hit, plus 20% fire resistance penetration. The ascendancy version lets you use a real weapon rather than the bad unique itself, though Molten Burst can't be supported from the ascendancy source. 14% cooldown reduction is the breakpoint that drops effective cooldown from 165ms to 132ms. The numbers on the ascendancy version are good, so there's real potential here.

14. The Sacred Chalice (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

Hard to use, but the power is there. Grants a flask charge on critical strike and 20% of physical damage as extra cold, fire, and lightning while a Sapphire, Ruby, or Topaz flask is active. Strong for crit attack builds, but falls off completely with Mageblood since the required flasks cannot be used.

15. Kaom's Roots (Third Point)

A slightly better version of the Trickster and Juggernaut anti-slow nodes, but at a higher cost as it effectively sets your evasion to zero and takes up 1/3 of your ascendancy rather than 1/4. Cannot be stunned, action speed cannot drop below base, cannot be knocked back, and 100 maximum life. Never take this on evasion characters.

16. Kaom's Binding (Eighth Point)

Situationally excellent, if you can use both modifiers well. Nearby enemies convert 25% of their physical damage to fire, plus 15% increased strength. Modifies the enemy's damage rather than your incoming damage, so it doesn't stack cleanly with Dawnbreaker or Cloak of Flame. A defensive layer for the right builds.

17. Polaric Devastation (Eighth Point)

A very basic option, but the damage is okay. 40% increased ailment duration on enemies, plus covers enemies in ash or frost for 5 seconds on ignite or freeze respectively. Nothing wrong with it, just less exciting than the top eighth-point picks.

18. Presence of Chayula (Eighth Point)

Decent but not as good as other choices usually. 20% of maximum life converted to energy shield and cannot be stunned. Powerful defensive layer for certain hybrid builds, though most builds prefer the other capstones.

19. Xirgil's Crank (Sixth Point - Spellcaster Weapon)

Not sold on this, it's always okay, but never great. Plus one level to all skill gems and 30% chance for energy shield recharge to start on block. Not worth a third of your ascendancy budget on its own.

20. Femurs of the Saints (Sixth Point - Spellcaster Weapon)

Defensive buffs that fall off when your minions die, underwhelming. Grants block, attack speed, life regen, and mana regen based on your active minions. Falls apart the moment your zoo gets wiped by a slam or damage-over-time effect.

21. Sands of Time (Sixth Point - Spellcaster Weapon)

Not so exciting to take, but the fact that Saresh's loot is being referenced at all is intriguing. Could hint that legacy items are still reachable somehow.

22. Screams of the Desiccated (Eighth Point)

A bad node, but its presence is interesting because it's the Shrine belt effect, does that mean it's still available in some form, or is GGG just trolling us? Grants impenetrable shrine buff while affected by no flasks. The no-flasks condition is far too extreme for most builds.

23. Fidelitus's Spike (Sixth Point - Attack Weapon)

The disappointing one. Hits always shock, deal no physical damage, and Herald of Thunder gets 100% increased buff effect and reservation efficiency. Not enough payoff for a third of your points.

Beyond the ascendancy tree itself, the unique items you build around are what turn these picks into real damage or defense.

PoE 3.29 Best Reliquarian Builds for League Starter Leveling & Endgame

The Reliquarian supports several very different playstyles. Here are three of the most promising directions.

Build 1: Black Cane Volatile Dead Spellslinger (Endgame Powerhouse)

Ascendancy Path: Elivore → Black Cane → Melding of the Flesh (or Gloomfang)

Core Idea: Soul Rest auto-triggers level 25 Summon Fantasm on corpse consumption. Socket Summon Fantasm Support in the staff to double the cap. Equip Dark Monarch set to Fantasms, then push the total near 62 with Congregation Support.

Damage Skill: Volatile Dead with Spell Cascade consumes nine corpses per cast, refreshing Fantasms constantly while dealing damage through both the corpse explosion and the fire orb spell portion.

Leveling Path: Start with any corpse or spell skill; swap to the full setup once Soul Rest and Dark Monarch drop. Cluster jewels with Blessed Rebirth keep Fantasms alive during heavy content.

Roughly 4,000 flat added physical damage baked into every spell means you scale increases and more multipliers rather than gem levels, a completely different scaling model from typical caster builds.

Build 2: Arakaali's Fang Poison Dagger Scion (Balanced League Starter)

Ascendancy Path: Elivore → Arakaali's Fang → Gloomfang (early) or Melding of the Flesh (endgame)

Core Idea: Trigger level 20 Raise Spiders on kill from the ascendancy, then double the cap with Dark Monarch set to Raise Spiders. At 40 spiders you gain 80% increased attack speed and 600% increased poison damage.

Weapon Progression:

  • Day 1: Taproot (roughly 1 Alchemy). Fast attack speed, poison duration, and life leech.

  • Mid League: Bino's Kitchen Knife for poison proliferation, or a Leopard's Bane Shield combo.

  • Endgame: Pneumatic Dagger with high crit and elemental damage rolls.

Skill Tree Focus: Perfect Agony once crit-capped, converting crit multi into damage-over-time multi via poison. Venom Gyre benefits directly from the Gloomfang chain payoff.

The spiders handle the buffing while your dagger delivers the killing hits. Active playstyle with a real endgame ceiling.

Build 3: Life-Stacking Burning Arrow of Vigor Bow (Off-Meta Fun Pick)

Ascendancy Path: Elivore → Shattered Divinity or Arakaali's Fang → Apostate

Core Idea: The Apostate node converts armor-piece energy shield into life. Stack maximum life through Dissolution of the Flesh and other life sources. Burning Arrow of Vigor adds fire damage equal to 32% of maximum life at 12,000+ life, that's over 4,000 flat added damage from the gem alone.

Weapon: Zoff's Inception (double corrupt variant) or Zoff's Nurture, weapons with weak baseline damage that scale entirely off the gem's flat conversion.

A meme concept turned semi-serious. Payoff scales purely with life pool, so every defensive stat doubles as offense. Not the top damage numbers in the league, but genuinely playable and completely unique.

Bloodline Notes

Any of the above builds can pick a Bloodline instead of a capstone. Katarina's Umbreal Army gives 2% movement speed per Fantasm (over 120% total in Black Cane setups). Prolonged Server keeps minions alive far longer, ideal for builds with low corpse consumption rates.

The Reliquarian is not necessarily the strongest ascendancy at any single specialty, but the breadth of options, pinnacle boss uniques as ascendancy nodes, layered defensive conversion, and access to previously legacy content, turns it into one of the most interesting classes to theorycraft for Curse of the All Flame. Whichever direction you take, expect the class to reward creative combinations of items rather than pushing a single "best" build. Good luck with your 3.29 league start, exiles.
