Path of Exile 3.29 Maps Guide
Maps are the primary endgame content in Path of Exile, unlocked after completing Act 10 and the Epilogue quest Picking Up the Pieces. Players use a Hideout Map Device to consume map items and open randomized dungeon instances with scalable difficulty and rewards. All maps are divided into three core tiers with fixed area level ranges:
Low-tier (White Maps, T1–T5): Area level 68–72, early endgame progression base
Mid-tier (Yellow Maps, T6–T10): Area level 73–77, core leveling and map unlocking stage
Top-tier (Red Maps, T11–T16): Area level 78–83, endgame farming and Atlas completion stage
Maps have four rarities (Normal, Magic, Rare, Unique) and can roll up to 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes. Higher modifiers increase difficulty but boost item quantity, rarity, and map drop chances. Unidentified maps grant a +30% item quantity bonus, while Corrupted maps (modified by Vaal Orbs) offer powerful random effects but cannot be further crafted with standard currency.
PoE 3.29 Official Maps Changes
The 3.29 Curse of the Allflame league brings major map pool rotations, mechanic reworks, and loot adjustments, differing significantly from 3.28. All core changes are listed below:
1. Map Pool Rotation
Returning Maps (Re-added to Atlas): Arachnid Nest, Basilica, Bazaar, Caldera, Cells, Channel, Colonnade, Colosseum, Conservatory, Crystal Ore, Desert, Desert Spring, Estuary, Forbidden Woods, Geode, Infested Valley, Laboratory, Malformation, Museum, Phantasmagoria, Pier, Plateau, Ramparts, Stagnation, Sunken City, Temple, Toxic Sewer, Vault.
Removed Maps (No longer in Atlas): Acid Caverns, Arena, Ashen Wood, Bog, Canyon, Carcass, Castle Ruins, Courtyard, Coves, Crimson Temple, Crimson Township, Cursed Crypt, Defiled Cathedral, Dig, Dry Sea, Dungeon, Lava Chamber, Lighthouse, Maze, Moon Temple, Mud Geyser, Necropolis, Pen, Racecourse, Sepulchre, Underground Sea, Wasteland, Wharf.
Discontinued Unique Map: Untainted Paradise is no longer obtainable as a map item; it now spawns as a random Atlas event node with increased difficulty and rewards.
2. Mechanic & Loot Reworks
Mercenary Warrant System: Players can claim a Warrant from Mercenaries in maps if they reject their offers. Warrants summon the same Mercenary (with new loot) in future maps and support player trading. Each Mercenary only grants one Warrant.
Mercenary Loot Nerf: Mercenary Rucksacks in endgame maps no longer drop Orbs of Transmutation or Orbs of Augmentation.
Reflect Modifier Overhaul: Old percentage damage reflect is replaced with Physical/Elemental Thorns. Red map rare monsters have 800 Physical Thorns damage and 1500 Elemental Thorns damage, mitigable via armour, resistances, and evasion.
Atlas Anomalies: Reflecting Mists and Nameless Seer no longer spawn randomly in maps; they now appear in exclusive Anomaly areas. Anomalies require no map items, ignore Atlas Passive bonuses, and cannot be modified by fragments.
Quality of Life Fixes: Memory Thread maps display their final map destination; Enshrouded Astrolabe renamed to Deceptive Astrolabe; unnecessary item drop delays removed from map-spawned Remembered/Feared content.
PoE 3.29 Best Maps to Farm
The best farming maps in 3.29 prioritize simple linear/semi-linear layouts, high monster density, fast boss access, and low backtracking. Below are tiered recommendations for progression, currency farming, and endgame sustain:
1. Early-Mid Progression Maps (T1–T10)
Atoll: Top-tier speed run map with a straightforward layout, fixed boss position, and minimal obstacles. Ideal for fast tier progression and early map sustain.
Burial Chambers: Linear layout with clear pathing, perfect for early currency and divination card farming with low clear difficulty.
City Square: Open semi-linear layout, shortest boss access from the entrance, and consistent monster density for smooth leveling.
Toxic Sewer: Simplest linear layout in the mid-tier pool, no dead ends or backtracking, optimal for fast map completion.
2. Endgame Red Maps (T11–T16) for Sustain & Currency
Dunes: Wide open layout with high monster density, excellent for Legion, Breach, and Expedition mechanics. No obstructive terrain, suitable for all AoE builds.
Strand: Short linear layout, fast boss rush, and stable map drop sustain. Low monster density but maximum clear speed for quick map cycling.
Infested Valley: Unobstructed open layout, easy boss fight, and reliable endgame loot drops. Safe for squishy builds with no cramped combat zones.
Channel: Narrow linear paths with clustered monster packs, high drop consistency, and easy full clear for atlas completion.
PoE 3.29 Best Maps to Scry
Scrying Orb stores the divination card pool of the map it drops in. When used, it overrides the native divination card loot of your chosen recipient map. The donor map’s own card pool stays unchanged. One map can only act as either donor or recipient in a single scrying pair. Scrying pairs can be cleared with an Orb of Scouring or overwritten by a new scry. Scrying Orbs drop from Tier 14+ maps when the Altered Prophecy Atlas passive notable is allocated, and they cannot drop in Ruthless mode.
1. Shrine
Target Divination Card: The Progeny of Lunaris (rewards Dying Sun)
This is the most popular high-value donor map in 3.29. Two copies of The Progeny of Lunaris grant the Dying Sun unique flask, a heavily sought item for current Winter Orb builds. Many runners combine this donor with Pilfering Scarabs to double divination card drops from map bosses. Extremely high ceiling profit if you hit the signature card. Additional consistent side loot includes Vinia’s Token sets for Regret Orbs, steady Chart and Tier 16 map drops.
2. Dunes
Target Divination Cards: Earth Drinker, The Fortunate
The primary balanced alternative to Shrine scrying. Earth Drinker can reward high-demand unique flasks including Rumi’s Concoction. The Fortunate adds extra baseline currency value to smooth out loot variance. Far more consistent baseline divination card drops compared to Shrine. Lower risk of extended dry runs without valuable card rewards. Works well if you want steady income without gambling on rare high-value cards.
3. Arcade
Target Divination Cards: I See Brothers, The Miracle, The Mayor
A multi-card donor option with mixed currency and equipment rewards. The Miracle provides random unique item rewards, while I See Brothers and The Mayor deliver consistent currency stacks. Diversified card pool reduces extreme loot swings. Works well for casual map runners who want multiple potential reward types.
4. Graveyard
Target Divination Cards: Damnation, Azyran's Reward
Damnation yields valuable corrupted unique jewellery, and Azyran's Reward grants corrupted Prismatic Jewels, both widely usable across many build archetypes. Jewel rewards maintain consistent trade demand. Suitable for builds that can clear graveyard-style recipient layouts efficiently.
5. Cage
Target Divination Cards: The Apothecary, The Last Supper
The Apothecary remains one of Path of Exile’s iconic high-value divination cards. Defiled Cathedral (the traditional native map for this card) has been removed from the 3.29 Atlas, making Cage the primary donor source for The Apothecary via scrying. The Apothecary commands strong permanent market value. Two target high-tier cards increase your chance of meaningful drops.
6. Vaal Pyramid
Target Divination Card: Unrequited Love
Unrequited Love rewards a powerful unique weapon with consistent demand for melee and caster builds. Single focused target card, simple loot strategy to track.
7. Grave Trough
Target Divination Card: Pearls Before Swine
Pearls Before Swine offers a large stack of chaos orbs, delivering direct, instant trade currency. Straightforward currency reward; zero reliance on random unique roll quality. Loot value is predictable.
8. Pier
Target Divination Card: Fire of Unknown Origin
This card rewards a popular unique flask used across many elemental damage builds. Flask rewards maintain steady market demand. Easy to liquidate on trade sites.
9. Bazaar
Target Divination Cards: The Slumbering Beast, The Miracle
Dual-target donor sharing The Miracle with Arcade. The Slumbering Beast rewards a sought-after unique armour base. Mix of unique armour and random unique rewards creates flexible loot. Bazaar returned to the 3.29 Atlas, so Scrying Orbs sourced here are easy to acquire.

PoE 3.29 Map Farming Strats & Build
1. Starter Low-Budget Farm: Incursion & Essence Dual Farm
A beginner-friendly league-start strategy for weak builds unable to clear high-tier red maps, requiring only 53 Atlas passive points with clustered Essence and Incursion nodes for dual-mechanic single-map farming.
Core Setup
Maps: T6+ white unmodified maps for essence farming; Incursion temples work on all map tiers for low difficulty and zero crafting cost.
Scarabs: Stack standard Essence Scarabs + Essence Scarab of Ascent to upgrade Shrieking Essences to high-value Deafening Essences.
Profit Sources
Steady income: Sell Deafening Essences; skip overly lethal essence rare monsters to save time.
High-margin income: Farm fully upgraded Locus of Corruption (Tier 3 temple room) enabling double item corruption. Synthesis item removal in 3.29 sharply boosts its market value. Early-league temples sell for 40–50 Chaos, rising to ~3 Divines in late league.
Optimized Workflow
Clear accessible essence packs first; prioritize temple paths toward Gemcutter’s Workshop and Corruption Chamber. Preserve unupgraded Catalyst of Corruption temples for subsequent maps to maximize Locus of Corruption upgrade chances, then exit quickly after securing high-value rooms.
2. Mid-League Meta Farm: Shrine/Dunes Divination Scry Farming
The dominant mid-league high-profit strategy with a 30 Divines/hour profit floor, verified via multiple 40-map sample tests, suitable for functional T16 clearing builds.
Core Scarab & Map Crafting
Scarab setup: 4× Divination Scarabs of Plenty+ 1× Divination Scarab of Pilfering to spawn dense magic monster packs and double boss divination card drops.
Efficient map rolling (better than scour-alch): T16.5 nightmare maps for +20% pack size, augment for minimum 25% pack size, then regal + three exalts to lock 45%+ pack size for max loot density.
Key Atlas Passive Allocations
Maximize map modifier effects, Beyond bonuses for extra monsters and card drops, Bismuth Ore buffs for 40–50% higher divination card output, full Prophecy spec for self-farmed Scrying Orbs, and enhanced global divination card spawn nodes.
Profit Structure
Baseline profit: 45–50 Divines per 40 maps, excluding rare high-value cards.
Stable side income: Charts, bulk T16/Nightmare map sales, and Vinia's Token conversions for consistent supplementary chaos gains.
High-value core drop: Progeny of Lunaris (2-card set for Dying Sun Flask) with a 1/40–50 map drop rate.
Clear Standard
25–30 maps per hour (including hideout and vault time); prioritize Plenty magic monster packs as the main divination card source. Dunes scrying is a low-risk alternative with 10% lower loot but more stable card drops.
3. Endgame Farm: Ethereal Knives Elementalist Build
A high-speed AoE endgame mapping build (200–300 Divine budget) optimized for Legion, Breach and T16.5 farming, featuring screen-wide coverage and massive peak damage, not for beginners or T17/Uber boss fights.
3.29 Skill Buff Core
Ethereal Knives gains 10% base crit (up from 6%), improved base damage/effectiveness, and 1% projectile speed per 1% gem quality, enabling 1–1.5 screen AoE clears and offscreen monster elimination. Nimis ring enables returning circular projectiles at high projectile speed breakpoints.
Core Gear
Golden Charlatan: Grants 60-second max-duration shrine buffs on rare/unique kills and converts weapon physical damage to spell damage for massive scaling.
Headhunter + Lost Unity Ring: Stack buffs and 5–6 herald effects for damage, speed and tankiness.
Farming Setup
Run eight-mod high-quantity Dunes maps with Timeless Astrolabe; use Legion-focused scarab sets (swap for currency scarabs as needed). Stand stationary in Legion encounters to trigger full-screen AoE clears with shrine buffs for near invincibility.
Build Pros & Cons
Extremely fast clearing and hundreds of millions DPS with stacked shrine buffs; vulnerable and squishy at map entry without buffs. Avoid maps with mana regeneration penalty, physical thorns/reflect and accelerated buff expiration modifiers.
