PoE 2 0.5 Rune Recipes List and Locations
Rune recipes are core crafting blueprints exclusive to the PoE 2 0.5 Runes of Aldur league. They belong to the new Remnant Crafting (Runeforging) mechanic, the flagship gameplay of this update. Unlike traditional Path of Exile crafting methods, this system lets players combine different types and quantities of runes through fixed recipes to craft various valuable items, including PoE 2 currencies, advanced runes, alloys, skill gems, support gems, and unique items.
The whole crafting process relies on Remnants and the Verisium Anvil. Remnants are special map stones with random 2-10 rune sockets. How to Get & Unlock Rune Recipes in PoE 2 0.5
All rune recipes and core crafting tools (Verisium Anvil) are unlocked through the league-exclusive Runeseeker questline from NPC Farrow, tied to story act progression and specific league encounters. The unlock process follows a fixed act-by-act quest sequence, with mandatory progressive steps for new players to follow. No random Rune Ruin map drops grant recipe unlocks — all recipe unlocks are tied to completing Runeseeker quest objectives and Runic Vaults.
1. Unlock Core Tool: Verisium Anvil (Act 1 Runeseeker Quest)
The Verisium Anvil is the essential workstation for all rune recipe crafting, required for all runeforging on armor and items. It is unlocked exclusively via the Act 1 segment of Farrow’s Runeseeker questline, not random zone runestones.
First, progress through the campaign to Clearfell and speak to the league NPC Farrow to automatically activate the Runeseeker quest. Next, locate and interact with three sets of Runestones in Act 1’s fixed zones: Grim Tangle, Hunting Grounds, and Ogham Farmlands. After collecting all three Act 1 Runestones, return to Grellwood and summon Farrow near the Tree of Souls to unlock the Lost Catacombs zone. Navigate to the end of the Lost Catacombs to obtain Liquid Verisium, then speak to Farrow and return to the Clearfell Encampment. This permanently unlocks the Verisium Anvil for your entire league playthrough.

Progress the Runeseeker quest to collect three unique Runestones in Act 2’s fixed zones:The Bone Pits, Keth, and Deshar. After gathering all three Runestones, proceed to the Skull of the Titan area, locate the Cave Mouth entrance, and navigate to the zone’s end. Completing this Runic Vault encounter unlocks core basic Runic Inscription recipes for crafting.
Act 3 Rune Recipe Unlock
Continue the Runeseeker quest to find three Runestones in Act 3’s dedicated zones: Jungle Ruins, Venom Crypts, and The Azak Bog. Once collected, return to the Infested Barrens to find the entrance to Mystic Refuge. Clear the zone and interact with Farrow at the end of the Runic Vault to unlock Unique Item Runeforging recipes for the Verisium Anvil.
Act 4 Advanced & Ancient Rune Recipe Unlock
The Act 4 segment differs from prior acts — no Runestones are required. Instead, search for Treasure Map Pieces across four Act 4 zones:Shrike Island, Whakapanu Island, Isle of Kin, and Kedge Bay.
Deliver all collected map pieces to ship captain NPC Makoru to unlock access to Plunderer's Point. Complete the expedition encounter here to reveal the entrance to the Deserted Post (replaces the old Abandoned Outpost/raid island mechanic). Full Recipe Unlock: Complete the Entire Runeseeker Questline
To unlock the complete library of 0.5 rune recipes (basic inscriptions, unique item forging, and endgame ancient runes), you must finish the full Runeseeker questline from NPC Farrow in Clearfell.
The full quest progression follows a fixed sequence: Speak to Farrow → Collect Act 1 Runestones + Clear Lost Catacombs (unlock Verisium Anvil) → Collect Act 2 Runestones + Clear Skull of the Titan Vault → Collect Act 3 Runestones + Clear Mystic Refuge Vault → Gather Act 4 Map Pieces + Clear Deserted Post.
