The Patch 11.1.7 is coming soon, when will the next big patch come out in World of Warcraft: The War Within? The roadmap showcases an approximate time and content to be added. In this article, follow us to take an early look at WoW TWW 11.2 (Season 3) release date and details.

WoW TWW 11.2 & Season 3 Release Date

Blizzard has revealed their 2025 roadmap that covers all patches and seasons throughout the year, also indicating major content included in each patch. The roadmap lists WoW TWW Patch 11.2 in Summer 2025, which typically spans June 21 to September 22. Given that Patch 11.1.7 (Late Spring) is scheduled on or before June 17, 2025, a 7-8 week gap would place 11.2 in July or August. The WoW The War Within Patch 11.2 (Season 3) is most likely to start around late July to early August 2025.

TWW Patch 11.0.7 (Siren Isle) launched in December 2024, and Patch 11.1 (Undermine) followed in February 2025. If 11.1.7 releases in early June, considering that Patch 11.2.5 is planned to be revealed in early autumn, and 11.2 would start between them with a reasonable interval, then late July is more possible. In addition, the WoW Midnight expansion is set for a late summer 2025 reveal, meaning 11.2 must launch before then.

WoW The War Within Season 3 (11.2) New Content

Even though Blizzard does not specify content details for the War Within 11.2 patch, players found lots of features through data mining. This patch would update with massive Ethereal-themed content. The leaks show the team has been working on the next few patches and seasons for months and has gotten a lot of stuff done. The Ethereal-focused update is going to include lore expansion, new customization options, and possibly a new playable race. Ethereals have a rich history dating back to The Burning Crusade, often encountered as vendors or quest givers.

New Raid (The Ethereal Raid)

The new raid in TWW 11.2 will likely explore the aftermath of the Dark Heart Relic falling into Ethereal hands, as seen in the Undermine cinematic. Players may fight against Nexus-Princess Ky'veza from the Nerub-ar Palace raid and other Ethereal leaders allied with the Void. The potential final boss of the raid is Void-corrupted Ethereal or a Void Lord like Dimensius, who destroyed K'aresh. There are possibly mechanics involving void portals or dimensional shifts.

New Dungeon (Season 3 M+ Rotation)

The new dungeon is likely Ethereal-themed, possibly set in K'aresh or an Ethereal stronghold. This could tie into the raid’s storyline, such as securing a Void artifact before the raid. We can also expect the return of older dungeons for Mythic+ rotation, like Ethereal-themed dungeons from Burning Crusade or Legion.

New Zone: K'aresh or Ethereal Homeworld

A new zone resembling the ruins of K'aresh, with floating islands, void storms, and Ethereal settlements. World Quests and Rares are related to Ethereal factions like the Consortium or Void-aligned groups.

New Open World Challenges

This update will introduce open-world challenges that are different from typical events. These challenges will provide harder elite events that are similar to Flame Druid Invasions or Portal to the Future in Dragonflight. Rewards may include Great Vault progress, cosmetics, or gear upgrades.

Customization Options

Data mining found new bandage patterns, glow effects, and void energy visuals. There is strong speculation that Ethereals may become a playable Allied Race with updated armor compatibility, which is similar to how Vulpera were introduced in Battle for Azeroth. If implemented, they would likely be available to Rogues, Hunters, Mages, and Priests, with potential racial abilities involving void teleportation or energy shielding. While Blizzard has not confirmed this yet, the extensive work on their models hints at a possible future release, either in 11.2 or the upcoming Midnight expansion.

Seasonal Rewards & Progression Updates

TWW Season 3 will also introduce new reward structures across all endgame activities. For raiders, the Great Vault may receive bad luck protection tokens to help players target specific gear. Additionally, raid-exclusive cosmetics, such as mounts, pets, and transmog sets could be related to achievements. Mythic+ players can expect legendary-tier incentives, including recolored KSM mounts, unique weapon enchants, or class-specific weapon skins that rotate each season. When it comes to PvP, potential new rewards for 2v2 and 3v3 brackets can be expected.

Except for the above content, WoW Patch 11.2 will also introduce Warbands and Brewfest updates. Delves will see adjustments, with higher-tier (T11+) versions providing better loot for solo and small-group players. Class balance changes are expected, particularly for underperforming specs in raid and Mythic Plus. Additionally, the world scaling system may be tweaked to make open-world content more engaging for max-level players.
