Tag: WoW TWW

With Patch 11.2 of The War Within now deep into PTR testing, players are getting their first serious look at how Season 3’s DPS meta is shaping up. Whether you're planning your next Mythic+ push, aiming for top raid parses, or just want to know which specs feel fun and fluid in Season 3, this TWW 11.2 DPS tier list breaks it all down.

TWW 11.2 Melee DPS Tier List (M+)

S Tier

Retribution Paladin

Retribution Paladins are crushing Mythic+ in The War Within 11.2 with explosive burst damage, versatile utility, and durability that’s hard to beat. If you’re aiming for TWW 11.2 best melee DPS, look no further. This is the spec to beat in Season 3.

A Tier

Unholy Death Knight

High sustained damage with excellent add control and AoE scaling. Think of this spec as a walking plague machine. If you want consistent performance in multi-mob packs, Unholy DK is one of the most reliable melee specs in The War Within 11.2 DPS tier list.

B Tier

Havoc Demon Hunter

Extremely high mobility and a fast-paced, mobile playstyle make Havoc great for some dungeon mechanics. Still a decent pick for Mythic+, but not quite meta-defining. Needs precise play to shine in TWW 11.2 Mythic+ dungeons.

C Tier

These specs aren’t terrible, but they’re not keeping up with the pace of the dungeon meta in 11.2. Either their damage isn’t competitive, or their utility is lacking.

Enhancement Shaman

Great AoE toolkit and cool elemental flavor, but poor single-target output hurts in boss-heavy dungeons.

Assassination Rogue

Solid mobility, but low survivability and inconsistent damage hold it back.

Arms Warrior

Offers some utility and a decent rotation, but damage output doesn’t hold up in competitive Mythic+.

Windwalker Monk

Status: Strong rotation and high skill ceiling, but needs better damage numbers to compete at the top.

Fury Warrior

Fun and fast-paced, but suffers from lackluster utility and average damage in high-end keys.

D Tier

These specs are at the bottom of the TWW Season 3 melee DPS tier list. They might have fun playstyles or good visuals, but low output, clunky mechanics, or lack of tuning make them poor picks for Mythic+.

Frost Death Knight

Lacks the sustained pressure and AoE flexibility of Unholy. Too cooldown-gated.

Fury Warrior

Still underperforms in group utility and lacks damage consistency for key dungeons.

Assassination Rogue

Repetitive damage profile and very little group utility compared to Subtlety.

Subtlety Rogue

Great in PvP or raids, but in Mythic+? Subtlety just lacks AoE flow and group utility.

Survival Hunter

A hybrid that doesn’t excel in either melee or ranged roles.

TWW 11.2 Ranged DPS Tier List (M+)

S Tier

These specs received significant improvements in gameplay, tier sets, or quality of life and are exceptionally fun, intuitive, and competitive heading into Season 3:

Shadow Priest

Massive rework, new visuals, talents, and Voidweaver hero tree. Incredibly fun, explosive single target (Void Rift), flexible playstyles. The War Within Season 3 best ranged DPS— high impact, fresh design.

Arcane Mage

Excellent tier set, hero talents are top-notch. Huge single target damage with strong funnel potential. Fun, smooth rotation and high damage ceiling.

Fire Mage

Got SKB and Frostfire bolt quality-of-life updates. Feels smoother and more enjoyable than early Season 2.

Marksmanship Hunter

Tons of talent reshuffles, bad ones removed, good ones buffed. Dark Ranger & cooldown rotation reworks feel amazing. MM finally feels fresh, accessible, and fun.

Balance Druid

Strong in both raid and Mythic+ with current design. Funnel with Starlord + Star Surge is insanely explosive (100M crits!). No major changes, but its raw performance and fun factor make it stand out.

Demonology Warlock

Not powerful yet, but design improvements are a win. Shifted away from one big cooldown (Tyrant), spreading power out. Makes the spec more accessible and beginner-friendly.

Devastation Evoker

Feels extremely fun and fluid, especially Flame Shaper. Hero talents for both Flame Shaper and Skill Commander are top-tier. A welcome non-Augmentation alternative with great M+ viability.

Beast Mastery Hunter

Huge updates with new capstones and insane tier set. Pack Leader path is standout strong. Overall, the spec is fun, mobile, and competitive.

A Tier

These specs have solid designs and/or strong tier sets but lack the exceptional playstyle overhaul or excitement of the S tier.

Destruction Warlock

No major changes, but tier set is very fun. Blackened Soul rotation feels good, though Reign of Fire is still spammy. Fun and functional, but missing deeper improvements.

Elemental Shaman

The tier set is busted (Ascendance uptime abuse), likely to be nerfed. No real class/talent changes, but the fun factor from tier set alone carries it to A tier. Awaiting balance tuning to solidify its role.

B Tier

These specs feel either outdated in gameplay or lacking in design updates.

Frost Mage

Got minor mastery buffs, but rotation remains boring. Dead talents persist, and tier set is underwhelming. Feels stale compared to Arcane and Fire.

Affliction Warlock

No meaningful changes, just one talent removed. No quality-of-life updates, no gameplay improvements. Still suffers from clunky playstyle and community disappointment.

TWW 11.2 Ranged DPS Tier List

S Tier

These specs were consistently at the top across all tested raid bosses. Whether due to strong tier sets, reworks, or synergies with encounter design, these are the TWW 11.2 best DPS specs for Season 3 (so far).

Balance Druid

Absolutely broken due to Dryad + Star Surge interactions. Bug causes Dryad’s Star Surges to crit for 50–60M+ damage. Will be nerfed, but even post-fix, burst profile remains top-tier. Huge burst windows, great in CA-heavy fights.

Marksmanship Hunter

New Dark Ranger build turns Black Arrow into a mini-nuke. Single target and 3–5 target cleave is outstanding. Simple rotation, huge execute potential, True Shot windows are extremely potent. Clean cleave fights, execute phases, reliable performance.

Shadow Priest

Voidweaver tree supercharged with Void Blast and Void Torrent buffs. Void Torrent now deals 22M+ on average cast due to tier scaling. Smooth, intuitive, and visually satisfying.Consistent output in both ST and light AoE scenarios.

 A Tier

These specs performed well across multiple encounters, offering solid value and a competitive edge, but didn’t quite match the S tier overperformance.

Beast Mastery Hunter

Pack Leader remains viable and strong. Mobile, consistent damage dealer with great uptime. Slightly overshadowed by MM Hunter’s explosive output.

Havoc Demon Hunter

One of the best TWW 11.2 melee DPS on PTR. Passive gains via Aldrachi hero talents. Not flashy, but effective. Mobility, consistency, solid AoE and ST.Best for players who are looking for fluid melee without cooldown awkwardness.

Windwalker Monk

Conduit of the Celestials boosts Haste, CDR, and rotation fluidity. Slicing Winds + Strike of the Windlord line up perfectly. Among the highest of melee specs in most fights. Best for players who like high-action, timing-based gameplay.

B Tier

These specs were present in the middle of the pack, with moments of success, but didn’t shine overall in terms of raw output or consistency.

Enhancement Shaman

Surprisingly consistent, especially in hybrid fights. Good utility, decent AoE, fun to play. ST still lags behind, limited burst tools.

Devastation Evoker

Despite past dominance, PTR numbers were underwhelming. Short fights and burst phases don't favor its ramping nature. Still competitive in the right scenarios — maybe stronger in Mythic.

Demonology Warlock

Tier set not translating into strong PTR performance. Pets and ramp-ups aren’t favorable in short-phase encounters.

C Tier

These specs show occasional strength but are typically near the bottom in damage logs across most fights.

Frost Death Knight

Lacks sustained pressure, poor AoE scaling. Outclassed by Unholy (even when Unholy is underperforming).

All Rogue Specs (Assassination, Subtlety, Outlaw)

Subpar across all fights — only moments of relevance in gimmick phases. ST-focused kits, low cleave, and underwhelming tier sets. Needs tuning or redesigns to regain raid relevance in TWW.

 D Tier

These specs were at or near the bottom in every boss test, with significant design or damage problems.

Augmentation Evoker

Still extremely controversial. No major updates. Performance lagging. Blizzard seems hesitant to buff or rework.

Survival Hunter

Identity crisis — doesn’t perform like a true melee or ranged spec. Subpar cleave and single target in raid environments.
