D2R 2.7 Terror Zones Tier List - Best Terror Zones Ranking In Diablo 2 Resurrected Season 4

5/5/2023 2:24:36 PM

It doesn't get any bigger than reaching level 99 in Diablo 2 Resurrected ladder season 4. If you want to try and do it as a hardcore player, you've reached the ultimate pinnacle of the game. You get an achievement for doing so and the achievement is very absolutely named. It's only 3 billion 520 million 485 254 XP because that is the exact total of XP that you need for the entirety of your character to start the game to get all the way to the level cap of level 99. If you want to know the best terror zones for level 98 to 99, here is the D2R 2.7 terror zones tier list for you.

D2R Ladder Season 4 Best Terror Zones - Diablo 2 Resurrected 2.7 Terror Zones Ranking

When you get to the higher levels 96, level 97, level 98, and up to level 99, there are fewer and fewer monsters in the game that will give you any kind of decent return on XP. Running Bale waves and doing the four waves of captains that he summons in are the five waves of captains that he summons in and then killing Bale himself is the really most efficient way to get those last couple of levels. Then a couple of seasons ago, they introduced the Terror Zone and Terror Zones changed the way that levels for Monsters worked, it kind of started to scale off of your own character and it vastly increased the level of the monsters when they're in a Terrorized Zone and so that made the grind a whole lot easier. We're going to start at the top and work our way up toward the best terror zone in Diablo 2 Resurrected ladder 4.

No.7 Nihlathak’s Temple

There are actually two different ways you can run Nihlathak’s, Pinkdleskin & Nihl or Nihl only. Because those maps are static, there are just a couple of versions of them and you can quickly identify what version of the map it is and then know exactly where the staircase is. When you get to Nihlathak’s level particularly that again has four options and you can identify them very quickly and find where Nihlathak is. So we did run with no effect only teleporting and ignoring everything else, player one, average run time for that with this character was about 1 minute per run and the XP per run was about 24000.

The second way and we ran Nihlathak’s Temple by just doing Pindleskin and then doing Nihlathak. All you need to do is run to the red portal, teleport up to Pindleskin and take out Piddleskin and his associated pack. Lay some traps behind to get some of those rising skeletons that would come up as you’re killing Pindleskin and then teleport out. Then jump in and fast walk or a fast run down. You would be running for the most part and if you see a boss pack or a champion pack you can kill it. If you see junk or if you got stuck behind a wall, teleport to skip past bland monsters on the way. So that was the approach to this run. This was about 2 minutes and 30 seconds XP per run. So one time doing that full circuit was about 120000 XP and that led to 43800 XP per minute. It more than doubled the XP per minute by adding Pindleskin.

So we’re ranking those as 7A for Nihlathak’s Temple with Pindleskin and Nihlathak’s and 7B is Nihlathak’s Temple just doing Nihlathak’s only. Now one additional thing that we take into consideration for this D2R 2.7 terror zone ranking is the danger factor for these various terrorists. Because there's nothing worse than trying to grind from 98 to 99 and making a whole bunch of progress and then losing it because you died. So uh Nihlathak’s Temple is one of those dangerous zones because Nihlathak himself has that corpse explosion. There are things you can do to lessen that based on your character and you can get Nature's Piece which might prevent the corpse explosions as long as you don't have pets that are doing  the killing. Or you can use the lightning, the Death Sentry but it is still dangerous if you have amplified damage on you and he starts popping corpses, you can get taken out pretty quickly.

No.6 Andariel

Number six of this Diablo 2 ladder season 2 terror zone tier list is going to be the Cathedral and Catacombs. These are Andariel's runs in Act 1. Again relatively quick, we're looking at about a 2-minute run time. The problem here is that the maps are not static, so they are random. If you don't have a teleport, forget it. It's going to be a nightmare because of all the little corridors and the doors and the twists and the turns, it's terrible. But if you have teleport either as a Sorceress or with Enigma, not bad, you can get around pretty quickly. Lots of champions and boss packs to find on your way down there and getting Andariel. We found for the 2-minute investment, you would get about 94700 XP which comes out to 43900 XP per minute. So just about even with Nihlathak’s Temple with Pindleskind.

No.5 Pit

This is the one that surprised us the most on the D2R 2.7 terror zones list. Because it's a level 85 area and so if you're trying to find the best loot or do a Holy Grail, the Pits are on that list. But we didn't think it would have enough monster density to make it worth it, and the numbers didn't lie. We did run this out of players 1, it was about a 2-minute and 45-second, average run time. There's a little bit of extra time there because you have to find the entrance to the Pit from the Cloister and it could be a little random. You got to follow the path and you got to pick the right branch of the path, then the Pit itself is windy and twisty inside the area which isn't very predictable. You want to get to the second floor as quickly as possible that's where the density is. That's where there's a number of bosses and monsters and so that's where you find the second floor because that's where you want to be. Payers 1, 2 minutes, and 45 seconds and that resulted in about 170000 XP per run which was 49000 XP per minute.

No. 4 Cows

At number four, this was slightly surprising but not as much as the Pit. This is the Moo Moo farm or the cow runs. The cows when you're going through the game way before level 98 or level 99, the Cows themselves have very little XP relative to other monsters. Their XP per kill is kind of going to be low but the density here is so good. There are tons of boss packs, the cow king, and all of his minions, it turns out to be pretty good. You do have the added times of the run to Tristram to get Wirt's leg. If you can coordinate that with somebody else, then you can cut this time down. If you know somebody else is running the Tristram for you to get the leg and you're waiting in town for them to come back, go buy a book of town portal and drop it on the ground next to the portal.

So that when they come out of the portal, they don't have to go run and buy one every time from the shopkeeper. Drop it on the ground, they'll pick it up, it'll save 10 seconds a run which again adds up over the course of going from level 98 to 99. For these, the other advantage of the Cow runs they're very popular because of the loot that the cows drop. We were getting an average number of players 6 for running the Cows. The average runtime is higher because you've got a big area to work your way through. So about 5 minutes average run time and that resulted in 450000 XP per run which was 69000 XP per minute.

No. 3 WSK - Baal

Number three is a little surprising because you think Worldstone Keep would be higher. At player 8, when the Worldstone Keep pops up, people are jumping in to do those runs. You can definitely get yourself into a players 8 games. The average run time is 2 minutes and 40 seconds, XP per run was 580000 and that resulted in 189300 XP per minute. If you're truly min-maxing, you want to skip Baal himself, you jump in ideally, and you would find a game to join that's maybe 30 to 40 seconds old.

That means somebody's already started going down to get the town portal set up in Baals Chamber, so you jump in the portal, just goes up, you jump right in and the first wave is coming at you in another 10 seconds. You're there for the four waves or the five waves and then Baal starts laughing to turn around, you leave, don't stick around for Baal actually your XP per minute drops if you stay for bail. You jump out and then you find the next game to join and hopefully, there's another one again that's 10, 20, 30 seconds into its game lifetime that you can then go in and jump right into the portal and start again.

No.2 Chaos Sanctuary

We were running at players 6 for this, you can get up to players 8 pretty consistently depending on the time of day that the terror zone tends to hit. If it's off hours, you're going to be a little low, if it's peak hours, you should be fine getting players 8. We were hitting player 6, the average run time is 1 minute and 40 seconds and that is the one downside to the Chaos Sanctuary runs. They are so fast and players are so good at running them. You're going to spend most of your time trying to keep up with the group. You can't stop, you can't pick up a potion, you can't breathe, because you'll fall behind and as that distance increases.

You might miss out on a boss kill, you might miss out on getting XP and if you miss out on 30 seconds of the run, you missed out on 33% of the run basically. So you need to really be on your game and really dialed in Baal run. You can be very casual, make it in the portal, set yourself up and you've got 2 minutes to just wait while the waves come in and everybody spams the spot. For Diablo runs, you have to be on your game and move fast. 1 minute and 40 second average run time gets you 450000 XP per run and that equates to 220000 and 900 XP per minute.

No.1 Tal Rasha’s Tombs

Tal Rasha’s Tombs come across the number one on this D2R terror zones tier list 2.7. It is a popular one, this was running at players 8 for most of the time. The average run time the runs take forever because you get all 7 tombs, so you're going to one tomb and you'll clear it out and they're random and sprawling, and then you have to backtrack to the entrance. So the average run time was 19 minutes and 55 seconds, they are long runs but that's actually good because you're spending less time in the menus. It's super efficient even though each one is a grind. Be ready to go for almost 20 minutes and the XP per run it's super high. Because it's a 20-minute run, so 3322288 XP per run which comes out to 237300 XP per minute just beating out the Chaos Sanctuary runs from Diablo.
