Arcana is one of the most important character progression systems in Aion 2, unlocked once players hit level 45. Many players waste materials or build their Arcana incorrectly by blindly chasing high-rarity cards without checking skill bonuses first. This guide breaks down the Aion 2 global Arcana system from basic rules, card types, enhancement, farming methods to endgame build planning.
Aion 2 Arcana Guide
Arcana in Aion 2 are equippable modular card items that add stat bonuses and raise the levels of your active and passive skills. The full core five equip slots are Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell, and Mirror. Additional slots like Scales, Key, Hourglass, Dice, and Lantern exist but are outside the standard Transcendence core setup. To activate set bonuses, you need to equip at least 2 pieces from the same Arcana set; equipping 4 pieces unlocks the second set effect. You can freely mix different Arcana sets to match your playstyle instead of forcing a full 4-piece set if it sacrifices critical skill upgrades.
Arcana, paired with the Daevanion Board and Soul Bind, is the only method to push your class skills past their natural level cap. Arcana cards provide +1 to +4 skill modifiers for regular class skills. Stigma skills will never roll on Arcana, so only evaluate bonuses for the active and passive skills you regularly use in your rotation. Besides skill level increases, every Arcana also carries passive Empyrean Lord stats. They grant permanent passive effects such as combat speed, cooldown reduction, attack, critical hit, defense, and movement speed. Your target stats will shift depending on your class and build goals.
Your normal skills can hit level 10 on their own. The Daevanion Board adds another 4 levels, bringing skills up to level 14. To unlock the third specialty of your key skills and maximize damage, you need to push those skills to level 20. There are two common ways to reach level 20. The standard formula is 10 base skill levels + 4 from Daevanion Board + 4 from Arcana cards + 2 from ring soulbind = level 20. Soulbind upgrades cost a lot of resources early on. If you do not have suitable soulbinds yet, you can get all 6 extra required levels from Arcana cards instead.
A key rule to remember: higher rarity does not always equal better. A green Common Arcana card can outperform a gold Unique Arcana if it gives the correct skill level boosts. Always prioritize skill level gains over gear score, unless you need extra gear score to unlock new dungeon content. A strong Arcana setup adds hundreds of item levels, permanent Empyrean Lord stats, set bonuses, and targeted skill increases. Its real power often does not show up from a simple item level comparison alone.
Aion 2 Arcana Card Types
The five core Arcana slots are Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell and Mirror. Every slot has two variants: Vigor and Magic. Each variant comes with its own Empyrean Lord substats, belongs to one of the two major set lines, and can drop from Transcendence Dungeons.

To get Arcana cards in AION 2, you need to clear Transcendence Dungeons. The dungeon tier decides the set type and card rarity (Common, Rare, Epic, Unique). Higher-tier dungeons drop better high-grade cards. You need to reach Level 45 and 2200 Gear Score to unlock Tier 1 Transcendence.
Card variant selection:
Chalice of Vigor: Recommended for all classes for its combat speed bonus. Global statistics show 70–88% of top players across all classes use Chalice of Vigor.
Parchment of Vigor: Usually the top pick for extra HP. Templars may choose Parchment of Magic for more endurance and tankiness.
Bell of Magic: Preferred for most damage builds because Destruction [Zikel] percentage attack bonus scales stronger as your character gets more powerful.
Compass: Choose Compass of Vigor if the boss fight requires high accuracy. Otherwise, pick Compass of Magic. Assassins generally skip Compass of Magic, since attacking from behind lets them ignore boss parry.
Mirror: Early game, Mirror of Vigor works great for cooldown reduction, especially for assassins and sorcerers. Mirror of Magic is a solid alternative for other damage classes that gain more from extra double strike chance.
Arcana Grade Breakdown
Each grade controls main stat value, maximum skill levels, base item level, and enhancement cap:
Common: 8 main stat, +1 skill level, 20 base item level, max enhance +2
Rare: 12 main stat, +2 skill levels, 40 base item level, max enhance +3
Epic: 16 main stat, +3 skill levels, 60 base item level, max enhance +4
Unique: 20 main stat, +4 skill levels, 80 base item level, max enhance +5 A fully enhanced Unique Arcana reaches 85 item level at +5. Five fully upgraded Unique cards together contribute 425 item levels before counting skill bonuses and set effects. This makes Arcana a critical source of gear score to cross progression thresholds at 2200, 2500 and beyond.
Aion 2 Arcana Progression & Best Cards
Your Arcana progression follows three clear stages. Do not aim for perfect cards or complete set bonuses at the start. The core loop is simple: farm lower Transcendence dungeons to raise your gear score, then unlock higher-tier Transcendence runs for stronger drops.
Stage 1: Focus on green Common Arcana cards. Your only goal is to raise gear score and progress into Transcendence Dungeons. Do not worry about perfect passive stats or set completion.
Stage 2: Start prioritizing blue Rare Parchment and Compass, as they carry your main active damage skills. Aim to lift your core DPS skill from level 14 to at least level 16. You do not need perfect Bell or Mirror passives yet; these will get replaced by gold Unique Arcana later. At this point, pick any card with the correct skills, regardless of whether it is Vigor or Magic variant.
Stage 3 & onward: Start planning gold Unique Arcana. This stage opens at 2200 gear score, but gold drop rates are only about 12%. It is not efficient to farm heavily here. Push to hit 2500 gear score to unlock Stage 4 Transcendence. In Stage 4, gold Arcana drop rate rises to roughly 60%, and you can also get gold Chalice drops. Stage 4 Transcendence is where players farm BiS endgame Arcana.
Recommended priority cards
The gold Unique Chalice is the first gold Arcana you should craft. Its full skill pool covering all regular skills makes it extremely hard to roll naturally from dungeon drops. Parchment and Compass are easier to farm and have smaller active skill pools, so use them to fill missing skill levels after you get your Chalice.
The current global PvE meta defaults to four Vigor cards paired with one Magic off-piece. Bell of Magic is the most common off-piece, thanks to its percentage attack scaling. Defensive Templar builds or characters struggling with MP shortages may run more Magic variants, but top global players mostly lean toward the Vigor core. Keep in mind popularity in leaderboards does not automatically mean BiS; rankings often mix PvE, PvP and progression goals.
Aion 2 Arcana Enhancement
Every Arcana rarity has a maximum enhancement limit. Cards of higher rarity offer more enhancement rolls to upgrade skill bonuses. Even so, rarity alone cannot decide if a card is useful.
A blue Rare or green Common Parchment may already push your main skill to level 20 and unlock its third specialty. Swapping it for a gold Unique Parchment with wrong skill bonuses can remove that level 20 specialty buff, even if your overall gear score goes up. Always check skill level gains before replacing your current Arcana cards. When enhancing, focus your investment first on cards that add levels to your most-used rotation skills. A small stat upgrade is never worth losing a skill specialty.
Aion 2 Unique Arcana Farming
Transcendence Dungeons are the primary source of Arcana cards. These are 2–5 player group dungeons, requiring at least 1600 gear score to enter. After clearing a Transcendence dungeon, spend Unobtained Cube Coupons to open the Odyle Energy Cube for Arcana rewards. There is an important weekly limit: players receive only 10 Unobtained Cube Coupons each week, and these coupons are shared with Conquest Expeditions. If you complete 10 Conquest runs in a single week, you cannot collect Transcendence cube rewards until the weekly server reset.
Each Transcendence dungeon contains four difficulty stages, with higher stages demanding higher gear score and rewarding better Arcana. In the Transcendence menu, select your target dungeon and click the percentage icon next to Cube Reward. This menu shows drop probabilities for every Arcana card and which bosses drop each specific card.
You can also extract unwanted low-tier Arcana cards to get Mysterious Crystals and Noble Crystals. These materials support transmutation to craft custom Arcana cards. Transmutation lets you target a specific set, slot, and even lock in one selected skill effect. Poorly planned crafts can cost millions of Kina for a card you quickly replace, so save heavy transmutation spending for slots hurt worst by RNG, especially Unique Chalice.
The fastest path to your first gold Unique Arcana uses Mysterious Crystals. Reach 4,000 points in Ascension Trials to earn 3 Mysterious Crystals. You can get another 2 crystals from season points, bringing your total to 5 crystals. With 5 Mysterious Crystals, you can transmute your first gold Arcana. Gold Chalice is the best choice for this craft. Transmutation guarantees one selected important active skill, while the remaining skills and enhancement bonuses roll randomly. You do not need a perfect result from your first crafted gold Chalice; its main job is to help you reach 2500 gear score to unlock Stage 4 farming.
Best Aion 2 Arcana Build for Each Class
The standard global damage template is 4 Vigor + Bell of Magic. The most important rule for every class: never blindly copy a skill list. Prioritize skills you actually use in your rotation, and only invest crystals when raising a skill toward its level 20 specialty threshold.
Ranger Arcana
This Ranger Arcana setup uses 2 Vigor cards (Chalice, Parchment) and 3 Magic cards (Compass, Bell, Mirror). The build prioritizes powerful Magic substats for passives over extra PvE Attack from a full Primal Vigor set.
Recommended Setup
Chalice of Vigor
Parchment of Vigor
Compass of Magic
Bell of Magic
Mirror of Magic
Key Skill Targets
Active skills (Goal: reach level 20): Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Tempest Shot, Drill Dart, Snipe, Burst Arrow
Passive skills: Hunter’s Resolve (Bell), Focused Eye (highest priority), Hunter's Soul (Mirror)
Note: Skill levels can come from Arcana plus gear, rings and armor; you do not need all skill points purely from Arcana cards.
Transmute Priority
1. Compass of Magic: target Deadshot + Gale Arrow; prioritize Deadshot levels
2. Parchment of Vigor: look for Tempest Shot, Drill Dart, Snipe, Burst Arrow; allocate levels to Tempest Shot and Drill Dart
3. Chalice of Vigor: aim for Deadshot first, then Tempest Shot and Drill Dart
4. Do NOT transmute Bell or Mirror first; passive Arcana are low crafting priority
Chanter Arcana
This Chanter endgame Arcana build prioritizes strong innate substats over full set PvE Attack bonuses. Chanter can be built for PvE DPS or PvP, and skill targets change based on your playstyle.
Recommended Setup
Chalice of Vigor (Time substat for combat speed)
Parchment of Vigor (Life substat; BIS, boosts HP, regen and healing scaling)
Compass: Freedom (if fighting block/evasion targets) or Death (if crit/hit resist meta)
Bell of Magic (Destruction substat for extra attack and perfect resist)
Mirror: Wisdom for PvE double chance; Illusion for PvP cooldown reduction
Key Skill Targets
PvE DPS priority (Goal: reach level 20): Dark Crush, Onslaught, Spinning Strike
PvP priority (Goal: reach level 20): Dark Crush, Recuperation (debuff removal), Spinning Strike
Parchment active skills: Dark Crush, Onslaught, Spinning Strike, Rushing Smash; avoid Wave Blow, Heat Wave Blow
Compass active skills: Recuperation, Impactful Crush, Incandescent Blow, Tremor Crush; skip Defiance, Gust Rampage
Passive priority: Wind’s Promise (highest); avoid Crossguard. Bell passives: Attack Preparation > Blessing of Life > Survival Willpower; skip Raging Spell
Note: Combine skill levels from Arcana + rings. Do not overcap skills above level 20, as excess points are wasted.
Transmute Priority
1. Parchment of Vigor: Roll Dark Crush, Onslaught, Spinning Strike, Rushing Smash; allocate levels to your top 3 target damage skills
2. Compass: Roll Recuperation, Impactful Crush, Incandescent Blow, Tremor Crush
3. Bell of Magic: Target Attack Preparation, Blessing of Life, Survival Willpowe, exclude Raging Spell
4. Mirror: Choose substat based on PvE/PvP and roll Wind’s Promise
5. Chalice of Vigor: RNG wild card; roll to fill missing skill levels for Dark Crush, Spinning Strike
Gladiator Arcana
Recommended setup: Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Mirror of Vigor + Bell of Magic
Key skill targets: Ruinous Blow, Rending Blow, Keen Strike, Leaping Slam, Rush Strike
Transmute priority: Roll Ruinous Blow and Rending Blow on Chalice, to secure two high-value active skills in one card.
Templar Arcana
Recommended setup: Vigor core for standard PvE and threat generation. Parchment of Vigor and Bell of Vigor work well for survival-focused fights.
Defensive alternative: Pure mitigation build uses 4 Magic + Bell of Vigor, for encounters where incoming damage is your main limiting factor.
Key skill targets: Punishment, Warding Strike, Vicious Strike, Shield Rush, Poach.
Assassin Arcana
Recommended setup: four Vigor cards + Bell of Magic. Combat speed, HP, accuracy and cooldown reduction all fit the melee burst playstyle perfectly.
Key skill targets: Heart Gore, Insignia Explosion, Shadowstrike, Quick Slice, Flash Slice.
Transmute priority: Heart Gore paired with Insignia Explosion is the premium Chalice roll for burst rotations.
For Compass, aim for at least +2 on your stagger skill to get it to level 16. Target +2 Storm Rampage and ideally +4 Savage Draw. For Bell and Mirror, stack enhancement bonuses on your strongest damage passives.
Sorcerer Arcana
Recommended setup: four Vigor + Bell of Magic. Keep Mirror of Vigor; its Illusion [Kaisinel] cooldown reduction is extremely valuable and should not be swapped casually.
Key skill targets: Hellfire, Firestorm, Blaze, Flame Arrow, Bittercold Wind.
Transmute priority: Hellfire + Firestorm for fire-focused PvE builds.
Spiritmaster Arcana
Recommended setup: four Vigor + Bell of Magic. Raw Attack boosts your own spells, curse damage, and spirit damage alike.
Key skill targets: Elemental Fusion, Jointstrike: Curse, Summon: Fire Spirit, Dimensional Control, Cold Shock.
Transmute priority: Elemental Fusion + Jointstrike: Curse to cover core loop skills on Chalice.
Cleric Arcana
Default: four Vigor + Bell of Magic. Attack scales both your healing output and damage. Switch to more Magic cards if your group content puts heavy MP pressure on you.
Healer skill targets: Healing Light, Light of Regeneration, Radiant Recovery, Warm Benediction, Healing Enhancement.
Transmute priority: Healing Light + Light of Regeneration for group PvE. For solo play, target Earth's Retribution and Judgment Thunder instead.
Perfect endgame Arcana takes a long time to collect. Always upgrade your most important active skills first, then slowly improve passive bonuses and secondary cards as you collect more resources.
