Aion 2 Global Class Popularity Tier List - Most Popular Classes in Aion 2

Since the official global launch of Aion 2, player choices around playable classes have formed clear popularity trends across all servers. These figures effectively reflect the real class preference of global players in the early free-to-play stage. It is worth noting that the popularity distribution may shift gradually as more players reach the endgame, adjust their main classes, and engage in high-difficulty content. This guide ranks all Aion 2 Global classes from the most to the least popular, clarifies each class’s core role, and breaks down their gameplay traits, pros, cons, and current performance.

Aion 2 Global Class Popularity Tier List & Ranking

Gladiator takes the top spot in global class popularity, and this trend is highly predictable among new and veteran Aion 2 players. European servers hold the largest player base across all global regions, bigger than all other regions combined. Spiritmaster is the clearest example of regional preference: unpopular in KR/TW but widely played on global servers. Ranger is the top class in Korean and Taiwanese releases, unlike the global ranking.

1. Gladiator (Melee DPS / Off-Tank Hybrid)

Gladiator is the most popular class for the Aion 2 global servers, and this result is not a big surprise. Players love this class for its iconic massive greatsword, which delivers heavy, satisfying melee hits. Primarily a melee DPS, Gladiator can also act as an off-tank when groups lack a dedicated tank, giving it great flexibility for group play.

It performs reliably in open-world quests, exploration, and low-star dungeon runs. It has better survivability than squishy melee DPS options and can keep steady damage output without strict positioning or perfectly timed burst windows. You will spot Gladiators in nearly every random party, this class stayed very popular once the game moved to full free-to-play release.

2. Cleric (Pure Healer / Support)

Cleric lands at #2 in the largest global sample. Early access numbers suggested Cleric might be less common, but its population grew steadily after full launch. As Aion 2’s dedicated pure healer, Cleric handles major healing and powerful group buffs that no other class can fully replicate. In transcendent content and reactivated raids, teams will depend heavily on Clerics to keep the party alive.

Even though Cleric deals the lowest damage out of all classes, it has strong self-sustain. It can complete solo dungeons, nightmare runs, and daily quests without needing teammates. Many groups struggle to find dedicated healers for harder content, so Cleric stays highly sought after, and its player count is strong across global servers.

3. Spiritmaster (Pet-Caster DPS Hybrid)

Spiritmaster is the most striking difference between global servers and Korean/Taiwanese servers. In KR/TW regions, Spiritmaster sits as the least played class. On global servers, it jumps high up the popularity chart, nearly matching Cleric’s player presence in the main sample.

Spiritmaster is a pet-caster hybrid. Players cycle different elemental pets to fight alongside them while casting magic damage. It is not like a necromancer with a huge army of minions; pets are integrated into the caster rotation. Western players tend to enjoy summoner-style archetypes, which explains this big regional gap. Spiritmaster also has better survivability than pure casters like Sorcerer, making it comfortable for open-world questing.

4. Ranger (Ranged DPS)

Ranger is the most common ranged DPS in the game. Its long-distance attacks are perfect for open-world gameplay. When doing daily quests or farming mobs, Rangers can tag enemies from afar and stay out of harm’s way. In sieges and large-scale air raids, the ranged playstyle keeps them safe from being swarmed by enemy players.

Most casual groups will include at least one Ranger. It offers consistent sustained damage and straightforward mechanics for both low and mid-difficulty content. Ranger is actually the top pick in Korea and Taiwan, showing clear regional preference differences. Ranger players also commonly upload combat logs to DPS tracking websites.

5. Chanter (Support / DPS Hybrid)

Chanter takes the #5 spot in the main global sample. It is a hybrid support and DPS class, bringing party buffs, light healing, and solid personal damage. For low-star dungeons and open-world content, a Chanter can keep a group stable even without a dedicated pure healer, lowering the barrier to forming casual teams.

One notable trend for global Chanters is that many Western players prioritize personal damage output over support duties. It is common to see Chanters focusing entirely on DPS and rarely using healing or buff skills in group content. Still, its flexible dual role keeps it popular for players who want to switch between helping the team and dealing damage. Its representation on DPS meter logs is slightly higher than its real in-game population.

6. Sorcerer (Magic Burst DPS)

Sorcerer comes in at #6 in the global player sample. Many players expected this classic burst mage to rank higher, but its actual player count is lower than anticipated. Sorcerer relies on precise burst windows and careful cooldown management. Many high-end bosses teleport, phase out, or lose their hitbox, which can completely waste Sorcerer’s big damage rotations.

Sorcerer is also very squishy compared to Spiritmaster. It struggles in crowded PVP and high-difficulty PVE because it takes heavy damage quickly. These demanding gameplay requirements keep its population down. Its DPS meter log representation is close to its real player numbers.

7. Templar (Main Tank)

Templar is the dedicated main tank of Aion 2, ranking #7 in the global player sample. This low popularity creates a growing tank shortage as players move into transcendent content and raids. Templar provides stronger aggro control, unique active block mechanics, and better group buffs than Gladiator off-tanks, making it the preferred frontline pick for the hardest boss fights.

The main reason for its low player count is that tank gameplay feels less exciting to many players compared to high-damage DPS classes. For easy and mid-tier content, a Gladiator can fill the tank role well enough, so most players skip picking Templar.

8. Assassin (Melee Burst DPS)

Assassin sits at the bottom of the global population ranking. This result is counterintuitive, because rogue-style classes are usually very popular in Western games. It is critical to separate real population data from DPS meter parse statistics: Assassin appears at the very top on DPS parse leaderboards. This number is misleading, because Assassin players are far more likely to upload combat logs to track their burst performance. Tanks and healers rarely submit logs, skewing these website numbers.

Assassin depends heavily on consistent back-attack windows to deal damage. Stable aggro from a Templar helps a lot, but Gladiator’s weaker aggro makes landing back strikes difficult. Its damage is locked into narrow burst windows. If a boss teleports or phases away right as Assassin activates its skills, the damage loss is severe. In open-world PVP and sieges, melee Assassins get swarmed easily and die quickly. These harsh conditions make it the least picked class in the real global player base.
