Conquest of Azeroth's PvP meta is still rapidly evolving. This WoW Ascension Conquest of Azeroth BG tier list covers all ~70 specs for Conquest of CoA PvP, focused on Battlegrounds (both leveling through BGs and endgame level-60 BGs/OPGs).
Conquest of Azeroth Best BG Specs - WoW CoA C Tier List & Ranking
Unlike a class tier list, these rankings evaluate each individual specialization, meaning even classes with mediocre specs often have one build capable of dominating PvP. The WoW CoA Battleground tier list based on several important assumptions:
Equal player skill across all specs.
The list prioritizes Battleground performance, not Arenas or 1v1 duels.
The leveling experience (1-60) is weighted more heavily than endgame.
The PvP meta is still young, with many specs lacking sufficient representation.
Future PTR updates and balance patches could significantly change the rankings.
S+ Tier
These specializations are considered overtuned because they combine exceptional burst damage, survivability, mobility, crowd control, or utility. They consistently outperform nearly every other build in Battlegrounds.
Corruption Cultist
Corruption is regarded as the strongest Cultist DPS specialization. It produces enormous sustained DoT damage while remaining surprisingly difficult to kill. Once fully ramped, Corruption almost always finishes near the top of the damage charts. Compared to Godblade, it deals higher damage much more consistently.
Lightning Stormbringer
Lightning Stormbringer specializes in devastating one-shot burst damage. Its powerful instant combos can erase opponents before they have time to react, especially when defensive cooldowns are unavailable. Combined with healing reduction from a Cultist teammate, Lightning Stormbringer can instantly eliminate almost any target.
Infernal Felsworn
Infernal combines elite damage output with incredible survivability. Besides its massive offensive pressure, it also has strong defensive tools, excellent mobility, mana burn and utility that many other classes simply lack. The result is one of the hardest melee specs to stop in PvP.
Tyrant Felsworn
Tyrant sacrifices some damage for incredible survivability. It is widely considered one of the strongest flag carriers because it can survive enormous punishment while also burning enemy mana, making healers such as Witch Doctors and Witch Hunters significantly weaker during extended fights.
Mechanic & Demolition Tinker
Both Tinker DPS specs dominate Battleground scoreboards. Their toolkit includes:
• extremely high sustained damage
• excellent burst
• strong utility
• difficult-to-kill defensive tools
• high objective control
The creator even comments that several abilities could be removed from these specs and they would still remain among the strongest builds.
Draconic Pyromancer
Draconic Pyromancer may be the single most explosive caster in the game. Its strengths include:
• reliable one-shot combos
• devastating Meteor AoE
• powerful crowd control
• mobility
• self healing
• excellent defensive cooldowns
It can completely swing large Battleground engagements by itself.
Rotweaver Venomancer
Rotweaver overwhelms enemies through relentless poison damage. Its signature Spider Eggs provide some of the strongest crowd control in Conquest of Azeroth by forcing opponents to waste mobility cooldowns before the real kill attempt begins. Against classes without strong self-healing, Rotweaver is particularly oppressive.
Growth Keeper Primalist
Although technically a support specialization, Growth Keeper is considered one of the strongest PvP specs in the game. It offers incredible healing, excellent mobility, strong survivability, objective control
and elite flag carrying. Its signature Tree ability can completely heal nearby allies, often turning lost team fights into victories.
Rift Blade Runemaster
Rift Blade is arguably the strongest assassin specialization. It combines massive one-shot burst, stealth, blink mobility, high escape potential and excellent flag carrier pressure. It functions similarly to a Subtlety Rogue—but with significantly more burst damage and mobility.
Sun Cleric (Healer)
Among healers, Sun Cleric sits comfortably at the top. It combines:
• outstanding healing
• strong survivability
• powerful crowd control
• excellent teamfight presence
Its overall impact makes it arguably the strongest healing specialization available.
Valkyrie Sun Cleric
Valkyrie trades survivability for incredible burst damage. Its signature aerial immunity ability allows it to leap into the air before crashing down for devastating damage capable of instantly deleting enemy players. Although fragile, its offensive potential earns it an S+ ranking.
S Tier
These specializations may not be quite as oppressive as S+, but they remain among the safest and strongest choices for PvP. Notable S-tier specs include:
• Godblade Cultist — strong damage with valuable healing reduction.
• Heretic Cultist — durable healer with good CC.
• Maelstrom Stormbringer — consistent elemental damage instead of burst.
• Slayer Felsworn — highly mobile, mechanically demanding melee.
• Animation Necromancer — exceptional pets, crowd control, and durability.
• Stalking Venomancer — burst-focused spider assassin with healing reduction.
• Incineration Pyromancer — devastating sustained fire damage.
• Flameweaving Pyromancer — resilient healing specialization.
• Witch Doctor (Shadow Hunting & Voodoo) — difficult to kill thanks to Mirage while dealing excellent damage.
• Warden Star Caller — one of the strongest melee burst specs.
• Infinite & Artificer Chronomancer — excellent balance of damage, CC, and survivability.
• Wild Walker Primalist — combines high damage with impressive self-healing.
• Hellfire & War Knight of Xoroth — exceptional during leveling, though they lose some power at level 60.
• Crusader Templar — heavy burst but vulnerable to focus fire.
• Piety Sun Cleric — excellent damage, healing, and crowd control.
• Soul Reaper — durable dual-wield melee with strong sustained pressure.
• Ancestry & Headhunting Barbarian — powerful flag carriers that also produce impressive damage.
A Tier
These builds perform well in most Battleground situations but have noticeable weaknesses preventing them from reaching S Tier. Popular A-tier specializations include:
• Wind Stormbringer
• Fleshweaver Blood Mage
• Eternal Blood Mage
• Brutality Barbarian
• Rhyme Necromancer
• Sentinel Star Caller
• Moon Priest Star Caller
• Geomancy Primalist
• Archery Ranger
• Harvest Reaper
• Time Chronomancer
• Engravement Runemaster
• Glyphic Runemaster
Most of these specs offer good damage or utility but lack either survivability, mobility, or consistent burst compared to higher-ranked builds.
B Tier
B-tier specs remain perfectly viable but generally suffer from one or more significant weaknesses.
Common issues include:
• poor mobility
• low survivability
• unreliable burst
• heavy mana dependence
• weaker objective control
Examples include:
• Cursed Blood Mage
• Sanguin Blood Mage
• Houndmaster Witch Hunter
• Inquisitor Witch Hunter
• Black Knight Witch Hunter
• Venomancer Healer
• Bear Venomancer
• Moon Guard Star Caller
• Templar Tank
• Domination Reaper
• Gladiator Guardian
These builds can still succeed in experienced hands but are usually overshadowed by stronger alternatives within the same class.
C Tier
Only a handful of specializations fall into C Tier.
Zealot Templar
Zealot offers little reason to choose it over Crusader, providing lower damage and fewer advantages in Battleground combat.
Defiance Knight of Xoroth
Very little data exists, but current impressions suggest it underperforms compared to stronger tank options like Dreadnot Cultist or Black Knight.
How to Choose Best Ascension Conquest of Azeroth Battleground Specs
Tanks in BGs are generally not recommended — unless they can flag-carry well or bring unique utility. A tank that survives a lot, deals a lot of damage, and heals a lot is broken (and those get nerfed). Leveling vs. 60 matters.
Some specs (Archery Ranger, Knight of Xoroth) are gods while leveling but fall off at 60 when people have trinkets, resilience, and PvP power.
Mana users have a vulnerability — Felsworn Tyrant/Infernal can mana burn them, shutting down Witch Hunters, Witch Doctors, etc.
Spider Eggs (Venomancer) are the best CC mechanic in the game — they force mobility cooldowns and create kill windows. 5.
Growth Keeper (Primalist) is the best support in the game — healing + survivability + mobility + tree ultimate that full-heals everyone in range.
The S+ club: Tinker (both DPS specs), Felsworn (Infernal + Tyrant), Pyromancer (Draconic), Venomancer (Rotweaver), Primalist (Growth Keeper), Runemaster (Rift Blade), Stormbringer (Lightning), Cultist (Corruption), Sun Cleric (Healer + Valkyrie).
