Path of Exile 3.29, known as the Curse of the Allflame league, has brought Breach back into the spotlight as one of the most rewarding league mechanics to farm. With the new Genesis Tree system layered on top of Breach encounters, players now have far more control over what rewards they can target, from raw currency to Foulborn Uniques and fractured rare gear. This guide walks through the current state of Breach, the changes players need to know, and the farming strategies that are producing the best returns right now.
PoE 3.29 Breach Farm Guide
Breach in 3.29 sits comfortably as one of the top mechanics for both SSF and trade players. In SSF specifically, it is arguably the number one way to gear up early, offering high-life, multi-resistance rare gear with very little setup. On top of that, the Genesis Tree acts as a customizable reward system where Wombgifts and Hiveblood can be spent to target uniques, Foulborn currency, fractured items, and generic currency drops.
The mechanic pairs well with the Allflame mechanic, where Foulborn currency has real utility, such as spamming Foulborn Regal Orbs onto chest bases to hit specific mod combinations. Now that we've covered the general shape of Breach this league, let's look at what's actually changed.
Changes to Breach and the Genesis Tree in 3.29
Reward Targeting Through the Genesis Tree
The Genesis Tree is the biggest structural change this league. It converts Wombgifts and Hiveblood into targeted outputs, giving players far more agency than in previous Breach implementations.
Currency targeting: You can select Foulborn currency, or block it entirely if you'd rather chase generic currency drops.
Unique targeting: Clicking a slot (rings, amulets, etc.) increases rarity odds for that specific item type.
Rare gear targeting: Select the base type, then click the specific modifier groups you want (life, crit, resistances, attributes).
Fractured gear access: Once you push into late-game crafting, fractured bases become available through the tree, which is one of the strongest tools for end-game crafting.
Point Allocation Quirks
Some players have reported issues getting the full 13 points on the unique portion of the Genesis Tree. Turning in 9 out of 10 body parts and hitting the 30k Hiveblood threshold still leaves some accounts stuck at 11 points. This appears to be undocumented behavior, and targeting a specific item type (like rings) tends to work more reliably than trying to block attribute rolls.
Foulborn Currency Value
Foulborn Regal Orbs and other Foulborn currency have become more valuable due to Allflame crafting synergies. Meanwhile, catalysts, especially Refined Sybilant (~8 div) and Refined Reaver (~5.5 div), have replaced raw currency as the top-value farm targets late in the league.
With those changes on the table, here's how to actually farm Breach efficiently.
PoE 3.29 Best Breach Atlas & Genesis Tree Build Strategies for Profitable Farming
Three main strategies dominate the current meta: a mid-budget Instability setup for consistent profit, a budget Jungle Valley farm for XP and Wombgift gambling, and a high-investment Unstable Breach setup for late-league currency printing.
Strategy 1: Mid-Budget Breach Farm (~20 Divines/hr)
This is the current go-to Breach farm for anyone with a functional mapping build. It runs on cheap, common scarabs, profits roughly 2 to 2.5 Divines per map, and averages around 6 minutes per map, which works out to about 20 Divines/hr at 10 maps per hour. Slower players still pull 10-14 Divines/hr, and that's before Genesis Tree payouts, Beyond drops, or Mageblood/Hidden Trove/Valdo's uniques get factored in.
Scarab Setup
The full scarab loadout for the map device:
2x Breach Scarab of Instability - adds 4 Unstable Breaches to the map.
2x Scarab of Monstrous Lineage - grants 80% magic pack size, which dramatically boosts Breach density.
1x Cartography Scarab of Wisps - cheap, drops a lot of extra currency in a Lab.
This setup is intentionally cheap. These scarabs are common enough that even if the strategy gets popular, prices stay flat. That price stability is a big reason this farm actually pays out, expensive scarab setups quickly eat your profit margins with the nerfed Breach values.
Skip Bloodlines
Horned Scarab of Bloodlines is not worth running right now. At current prices of 1.5-1.8 Divines each, the loot bump does not pay for the scarab itself. If Bloodlines drops to around 1 Divine, revisit it, but at the current pricing, running Monstrous Lineage instead is strictly better.
Map Rolling
Target map: Tier 16 or Course-tier Dunes for the open Breach layout.
Rolling checklist:
Minimum 90% more currency - the bare-minimum threshold. Higher is better.
High quantity roll - the more, the better.
High pack size roll - pack size is very strong for Breach density.
Six-mod maps only - Exalt up to six mods.
Currency Chisel if cheap. If prices are too high, skip it, not a big deal.
Pack Size Chisel works as a backup and is also solid for this farm.
Do not be shy about re-rolling. A map with 90% currency but low quantity is inferior to one with high currency, high quantity, and good pack size, roll as strict as your alchemy budget allows.
Delirium Orbs
Use as many Fine Delirium Orbs as your build can handle. These are more valuable this patch because overall currency drops are down, which pushes up the relative value of Delirium's guaranteed rewards. You'll pull raw Divines out of these consistently.
Recommended counts:
2-3 orbs on early maps or a squishier build.
4-5 orbs once your character can tank the extra danger.
Even a single orb adds meaningful value, don't skip them entirely.
Map Strategy: Dunes
Dunes is the ideal map for this setup thanks to its open layout, which gives Breaches maximum room to spawn monsters.
Execution order inside the map:
Rush the boss first. This locks out boss altars, so every altar spawn afterward is a player altar.
Prioritize altar effects: currency duplication, scarab duplication, and quantity.
Clear all Breaches using your build's clear pattern.
Pick up all Beyond spawns as they trigger from the density.
Astrolabe
The Grasping Astrolabe (Breach Astrolabe) is worth using at current prices. Monitor its price — if it climbs, drop it.
Important note: the Synthesised Stability keystone is now required for the Astrolabe to work with this setup. Last patch it worked without the keystone allocated when using the Astrolabe, but that no longer holds. Either the interaction changed or it's a bug, but the keystone is currently mandatory.
Atlas Tree
The Atlas tree is identical to last patch, nothing has changed structurally. Full node priority:

All Breach nodes - non-negotiable foundation.
Synthesised Stability keystone - required for Astrolabe use.
All map effect nodes - scales your investment.
All quantity and pack size nodes.
Red altars over blue - with the right build you can take every altar downside for free. Blue altars work if your build has trouble with red downsides; pick based on your character.
Beyond cluster nodes - the extra monsters are meaningful.
Endless Tide - very important for keeping Beyond bosses spawning.
Beyond currency nodes - more currency from Beyond monsters.
Genesis Tree Setup
The Genesis Tree adds substantial value on top of the raw map drops. Foulborn uniques still command high prices even after the nerf, so this tree pays out steadily throughout the farm.
Which path to pick:
Uniques and currency are the two strong paths in 3.29. The rares path took a heavy nerf and no longer competes with the other two, it can still work but is not the top pick.

Unique-focused Tree (recommended):
This is the current best path for chasing Foulborn uniques like the meta wand, Xoph's Heart, and other high-value drops.
Take the full unique cluster including the Foulborn chance nodes.
Pick which item slot you want to target and click it (rings, amulets, shields, jewels, etc.).
Skip the unwanted item slots to concentrate rolls into your target.
Belt-Chase Variant:
If you want to gamble specifically on belts (Foulborn Mageblood territory):
Drop the general unique cluster nodes on the far side.
Drop the final unique node on the right.
Redirect those points into Major Hunter to concentrate on belt drops.
Jewel-Chase Variant:
Jewels are also a strong target this league. Path toward the jewel-focused cluster using the same principle, drop the equipment slot points and reallocate toward jewels.
Currency-focused Tree (alternative):
For raw currency rather than uniques:
Take the full currency cluster.
Pick between two options at the choice node:
2% chance for a full stack - reliable, consistent value.
Flawed Seeds - grants Foulborn currency, which can be worth quite a bit thanks to the Allflame crafting demand.
Both options are viable, the Foulborn currency path scales harder as the league progresses and more crafters need Foulborn Regals and Exalts.
Expected Returns
Fast player (10 maps/hr): ~20 Divines/hr in raw map profit.
Average player (5-6 maps/hr): ~10-12 Divines/hr in raw map profit.
Genesis Tree bonus: stacks on top of both. Foulborn uniques, raw Divines, Mageblood shots, Hidden Trove, and Valdo's Puzzle Box drops all funnel into the total.
The strategy's cheap entry cost is what makes it work. Because you're not spending a fortune on scarabs or map rolling, even modest profit-per-map values compound into a strong hourly rate.
Strategy 2: Budget Breach Jungle Valley Farm (Best for XP + Wombgifts)
This is the budget Breach farm for 3.29, the strategy that both prints currency and doubles as the fastest way to hit level 100. GGG tried to tone Breach down this patch, but not nearly enough. Raw Divine Orbs drop often enough from Breach monsters to become a meaningful part of the profit, and multi-Divine maps are not rare. Loot density is high enough that you genuinely need a strict endgame filter just to keep the ground readable.
The real appeal, though, is the gambling. Ancient Wombgifts drop constantly, and every single spin has the potential to hit a Foulborn Headhunter, Foulborn Mageblood, or a Forbidden Orb unique that pays for the whole session in one click. Cheap scarabs, absurd XP, constant raw currency, and massive high-roll potential, all in one strategy.
Scarab Setup
The full map device loadout:
2x Breach Scarab of Instability - adds 4 Unstable Breaches.
2x Scarab of Monstrous Lineage - 80% magic pack size, huge Breach density boost.
1x Beyond Scarab of the Invasion - more Beyond monsters on top of the Breach density.
These are the same budget scarabs that carried last league. They're cheap, common, and their prices stay stable no matter how popular the farm gets.
Scry Setup
Scry Dunes over Jungle Valley.
Dunes is currently the cheapest scry on the market because everyone's running it as their default Breach map. That makes this conversion essentially free. It also unlocks the Divine Orb-related div card that drops on Dunes - the Fortunate (1/6 of a Divine Orb), which stacks up quickly at this loot density.
Why Jungle Valley
Jungle Valley is the correct map for this strategy for three reasons:
No boss altars. Every altar spawn is a player altar, no rushing the boss needed.
Straight-line layout. You walk from one end to the other. No backtracking, no getting lost. This dramatically cuts map times compared to Dunes, which forces even fast builds to run all over the place.
Searing Exarch altars. The high magic pack size means constant Exarch spawns. If your build ignores altar downsides, just click every minion node and blast through — free scaling, zero risk.
Dunes only makes sense if you already have a very fast character and love the layout. For anyone else, Jungle Valley is straight-up faster.
Map Rolling
Target: 8-mod corrupted Jungle Valley maps.
Rolling approach:
Bulk-buy corrupted 8-mods before the session. Filter out the mods your build can't handle.
Prioritize high pack size on the maps you keep.
Corruption is mandatory - the Atlas tree is built around explicit modifier effect scaling, and 8-mod corrupted maps are the best way to leverage that.
Doing this in bulk saves an enormous amount of time. Roll or filter once, then farm for hours.
Atlas Tree
The tree is built around three pillars:

All Breach nodes - the foundation.
All Beyond nodes - extra monsters from the Beyond scarab plus Beyond currency scaling.
All explicit map modifier effect nodes - this is the key scaling for 8-mod corrupted maps. The more effect, the harder every mod on the map hits.
Compared to Strategy 1, this tree leans harder into map mod scaling because of the corrupted 8-mod approach.
Genesis Tree (Ancient Wombgift Strategy)
Ancient Wombgifts are the crazy gambling payout of this farm. Foulborn Headhunter, Foulborn Mageblood, high-roll amulets, rings, shields, this is where the session-defining drops come from.

Core rule: whenever you have Wombgifts, spam them. When you run out, redirect Genesis Tree points into generating more Wombgifts and just keep the cycle spinning. Volume of spins is more important than perfect targeting.
Slot targeting is flexible:
Shields are the current recommendation because several meta shields are worth a lot in 3.29.
Amulets and rings are also paying out — some of the session's biggest hits come from these slots even when they aren't the primary target.
Belts if you're chasing the Foulborn Mageblood dream.
There is no mandatory tree here. Pick whichever slot lines up with the current meta prices or with items you're personally hunting. Skip the item slots you don't want to concentrate rolls on your target.
Filler nodes: a few nodes in the cluster aren't especially strong (like the outer connector points), but there's often nowhere better to put them. Don't overthink it — the value is in the spins themselves, not in optimizing every last point.
XP Rates
For anyone running this purely as a leveling farm, the numbers hold up:
Level 95 → 96: ~260 million XP/hr
Level 96 → 97: ~246 million XP/hr
Level 97 → 98: ~180 million XP/hr
Rates drop as you approach 100 due to the XP curve, but the pace to 100 is still faster than pretty much anything else in the current patch. And with a safe build, deaths shouldn't be part of the equation at all, this farm is genuinely low-risk if your character can handle 8-mod corrupted maps.
Loot Filter Warning
Use a strict endgame filter. Loot density on this strategy is high enough that a lenient filter will turn every map into a hunt-through-the-mess situation. If you're running this without a filter tuned for endgame farming, you're leaving currency on the ground because you can't see it.
Build Note
If you're running the Herald Stacking Ignite Autobomber, this strategy is basically tailor-made for the build, safe, fast, and immune to most altar downsides, which lets you take every Exarch node for free. Any respectable clear-focused build with good defenses works, but the smoother your character, the more this farm prints.
Strategy 3: Unstable Breach High-Investment Currency Farming
For established characters chasing top-end profit, this setup transforms Breaches into thousands of lucrative Magic monsters.
High-Investment Scarabs
Scarab of Wisps
2x Breach Scarab of Instability
Horned Scarab of Bloodlines
Cartography Scarab of Risk
Map
Tier 16 Originator Influenced Dunes rolled for 140% more currency or higher. When Grasping Astrolabe has 1-2 uses left, run a map enchanted with "Area contains an Empowered Mirage which covers the entire Map." If Maven's Chisel of Avarice costs more than a Fenumal Plagued Arachnid, chisel first, then split.
Delirium Orbs:
Use as many Armoursmith's Delirium Orbs as your build can survive.
Eldritch Influence:
Eater of Worlds, the increased values on Quantity and Currency Duplication altars make this the correct choice for any currency-focused Breach setup.
Atlas Passive Tree Setup

Regardless of variant, the core Atlas skeleton stays consistent:
All Breach nodes - mandatory foundation.
Beyond nodes including Endless Tide for extra bosses and more currency Beyond monsters.
Synthesised Stability if using the Grasping Astrolabe.
All map effect, quantity, and pack size nodes.
Red altars over blue for most builds because you can safely take every altar downside.
Genesis Tree Setup by Goal

For Uniques (rings, shields, amulets):
Path toward the unique tree. Reduce Foulborn chance if you don't want Foulborn variants, or increase it if you're chasing chase items like Foulborn Mageblood. Use the "click specific item slot" feature to target rings, amulets, shields, or jewels.
For Currency:
Take the currency-focused tree. Optionally grab the 2% chance for a full stack or the Flawed Seeds node, Foulborn currency can sell for solid Divines, especially early league.
For Rares:
Now weaker after the 3.29 nerf. Unique and currency paths outperform it in the current meta.
For Catalysts (late-league pivot):
As the league matures and hideout warriors start crafting rings, amulets, and jewels, Refined Sibilant (~8 Divines) and Refined Reaver (~5.5 Divines) become the top-value drops. Math from community testing suggests roughly 50 Divines per 100 Wombgifts spent on the catalyst tree, factoring the 14% chance for jewel catalysts and the 240% surpassing multiplier.
In-Map Gameplay Tips
Once you're in the map, a few habits will consistently improve your yield:
Rush the boss first to lock in better Eldritch Altar rolls (avoids boss-related altar modifiers).
Prefer hives (breach fortresses) for maximum reward density, but be ready for slower maps.
Run the inner square of hives to grab chests, which are a strong source of Wombgifts and lucky Foulborn Unique drops.
Swap to Unstable Breaches if maps are too slow, especially when running scarabs. Strong builds can pop up to 3 Unstable Breaches simultaneously.
Best altar rolls to look for: % chance to duplicate currency, increased quantity of items found, % chance to duplicate scarabs.
Breach Hive strategy (Stable Breaches):
When running Stable Breaches at 25+ waves, run the inner square of the arena to pick up hidden chests. These are the top source of Wombgifts and occasionally drop Foulborn uniques. The outer square adds time but adds more chests.
Breach Loot and Selling
The primary sellable drops from a proper Breach farm include:
Currency: Divine Orbs, Chaos Orbs, Valdo's Puzzle Box, and long-tail lucky drops like Hinekora's Lock or Mirror of Kalandra on high-investment runs.
Breach materials: Ancient Wombgift, Lavish Wombgift, Mysterious Wombgift, Provisioning Wombgift, and Hiveblood.
Catalysts: Refined Sybilant (~8 div), Refined Reaver (~5.5 div), Sybilant (~0.5 div), with several others fetching 1-3 chaos that add up in bulk.
Foulborn Uniques and crafted rares: Amulets, rings, and jewels crafted from Breach-sourced bases regularly sell at 80-150 div margins when rolls hit.
Breach in 3.29 rewards focused, repeatable setups more than complex layered strategies. Start with the Genesis Tree league start setup to build a currency base, transition into catalyst targeting once your build can handle multiple Unstable Breaches at once, and move into Grand Mirror city plays or the Horned Scarab of Bloodlines strategy once you have divines to invest. Whether you're playing SSF for gear or grinding trade for divines, Breach remains one of the most flexible and consistently profitable mechanics this league.
