Season 15 of Diablo 4 has delivered one of the most iconic homages in the franchise's history, with a hidden pinnacle boss fight tucked away in Old Tristram that rewards players with the legendary Hellfire Torch Mythic Charm. This charm grants +4 to all skills, all resistances, all stats, and even counts as a Nameless set piece while letting you equip an additional unique charm. Before you can claim it, though, you'll have to complete a multi-step questline involving Deckard Cain's journals, three Prime Evil Splinters, and a trip back to the original Tristram from Diablo 1. Below you'll find every step needed to reach the boss, farm the materials, and put the Hellfire Torch to work in your build.
Where & How To Get Hellfire Torch in Diablo 4 Season 15?
Before jumping into the boss fight itself, you'll need to complete several preparation steps. Here's the full path to reaching Uber Tristram and looting the Hellfire Torch.
Step 1: Finish the Seasonal Questline
Make sure Deckard Cain is stationed at the Imperial Library. This happens after wrapping up the Season 15 main quest, so most players will already have this checked off. Cain being at the library is required, because that's the location where the final portal opens.
Step 2: Collect All 10 of Deckard Cain's Journals
Scattered across Sanctuary are 10 hidden journal entries that tell the story of Cain's travels after losing his wife and child. You'll know one is nearby when a small green circle appears on your minimap.

Step 3: Farm the Three Prime Evil Splinters
You'll need three items to craft the key for Uber Tristram:
Splinter of Terror
Splinter of Destruction
Splinter of Hatred
These drop from the three Prime Evil capstone fights, which appear on your map with a red hue and the seasonal icon:
World Stone Keep (Baal fight)
Durance of Hate (Mephisto fight)
The Labyrinth (Diablo amalgamation fight)
To get the splinters to drop, you must run these fights on Torment 10 or higher, when the portal turns red and enters Hell difficulty. That said, Torment 12 is recommended because the bosses hit like trucks and require tens of billions of damage to burn down quickly.
Each boss can drop any of the three splinters, so pick the fight you find easiest. Most players prefer farming Baal since the run takes about 2 minutes and rewards you with legendary seals, greater affix items, and royal gems along the way from the three ancients at the area summit. Expect to run each boss around 10 times before your first splinter drops.
Step 4: Craft Wirt's Lucky Coin
Once you have all three splinters, take them to the Horadric Cube and transmute them together. The result is Wirt's Lucky Coin, a nostalgic Diablo 1 reference that acts as your ticket into Old Tristram.
Step 5: Enter Deckard's Memory and Old Tristram
Return to Cain at the Imperial Library and speak with him. A pixelated portal called Deckard's Memory will open, taking you into the original Diablo 1 Tristram with the classic voice actors and iconic music. You can't mount up here, giving you that OG walking experience. NPCs like Ogden and Farnham are there, and you can even trigger side quests like Ogden's Sign or the Butcher.
Step 6: Open the Uber Tristram Portal at the Fountain
Head to the fountain in the center of Tristram and interact with it while holding Wirt's Lucky Coin. The fountain transforms, and a large question mark portal appears. Step through to reach the Uber boss fight.
Step 7: Defeat Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal Together
Inside the arena, you'll fight all three Prime Evils simultaneously in a small square. This encounter is similar to the previous secret portal boss, but harder. A strong Torment 12 build will melt them fairly quickly. On top of the Hellfire Torch, expect a rain of mythics, mythic charms, an Abyssal Splinter, and the mysterious Standard of Heroes quest item.
How To Use Hellfire Torch?
Now that you've earned the Hellfire Torch, here's how to slot it into your character for maximum impact.

These numbers are randomized on each drop, so you may want to farm multiple torches for a better roll. You can also 3-to-1 duplicate torches in the Horadric Cube to reroll for improved stats.
Slotting the Torch Into Your Build
Because the Hellfire Torch counts as a set charm AND lets you equip an additional unique charm, it opens up build combinations that were previously impossible.
Option A: Full Nameless Set Play
Equip four pieces of the Nameless set, then add the Hellfire Torch as your fifth set piece. On top of that, you can still slot a unique charm like Fist of Fate, Flickerstep, or Rictus of Terror.
Option B: Mythical Seal Combo
If you own the Mythical Seal that reduces the required set pieces by one, you can run three Nameless pieces, one unique charm, the Hellfire Torch, and a second unique charm. Two ancestral mythic charms simultaneously is absurd power.
Option C: Temerity Swap
Since your defensive stats are already covered by the torch's resistances and all stats bonus, you can swap Temerity for a different pants aspect and put all of the Speeding Flame effects on the Infernal Homunculus. That frees up your focus slot for something offensive.

Early testing suggests the Hellfire Torch is tradable among friends, since some copies drop without the account-bound tag. If confirmed, this makes the item shareable, though drops appear inconsistent, so double-check before assuming yours is tradable.
Extra Tips & Common Issues
To wrap up, here are a few points that will save you time and headaches when farming this activity.
Turn Off Crossplay Before Using the Coin
Many players report that after transmuting Wirt's Lucky Coin, they walk into Tristram and click the fountain, only for nothing to happen. The coin gets consumed and no portal spawns. The current workaround is:
After crafting the coin, leave the game and return to the player lobby.
Go into Options > Connections and turn off crossplay.
Reload into the game and head straight to Tristram.
Interact with the fountain, and the portal should open reliably.
This bug seems tied to another player already having triggered the fountain in your shared instance. Turning off crossplay isolates your game and avoids the issue.
Reset Dungeons When Farming Prime Evils
While farming Baal, Mephisto, or Diablo for splinters, always reset dungeons between runs. There's a known bug with Nemesis portals where bosses stop spawning after chained runs. Resetting fixes this every time.
Baal Is the Fastest Farm
Out of the three capstone fights, the Baal run in World Stone Keep is the quickest, roughly 2 minutes per clear once you know the layout. Movement speed builds especially benefit here. The Standard of Heroes Mystery
