Patch 12.1, the Curse of Oollettech, has officially landed on the PTR realms, bringing with it a fresh wave of content, sweeping class adjustments, and what many players are calling some of the most visually striking and mechanically exciting Tier Sets we've seen in years. Unlike Season 1, where the sets played things relatively safe, Season 2 is doing something different, these sets were specifically designed to introduce new and interesting gameplay components for every play style in the game, often offering massive power spikes alongside gorgeous visuals.
In this guide, we'll be going through every class Tier Set arriving with Patch 12.1, covering both the bonuses and the appearances, while ranking them from best to worst based on combined visual appeal and gameplay potential. Keep in mind this is an early preview - PTR changes are by no means final, so a lot of these sets may be adjusted over the coming weeks.
WoW Midnight Season 2 Tier Sets Tier List - Best 12.1 Tier Sets & Bonuses
Heading into Season 2, the philosophy behind Tier Sets has shifted in a noticeable direction. Where Season 1 leaned on flat damage modifiers, 12.1 introduces bonuses that reshape rotations, reward hero spec choices, and push players to react to procs rather than passively benefit from them. Some specs gain massive power spikes through interesting feedback loops: Frost DK's Frozen Tempest, Devourer DH's Soul Burst, and Augmentation Evoker's Upheaval window are perfect examples. Others, like Hunter Survival and Vengeance DH, still feel like passive number increases. Visually, the patch is troll-themed (Zul'Aman-style raid tier on the Coiled Isle), but only a handful of classes actually lean into that aesthetic.
With that overview in mind, let's get into the full ranking of every 12.1 Tier Set and its bonuses for each spec.
#1 - Priest: Best Tier Set in Patch 12.1
The Priest set takes the top spot. The silhouette is unmistakable, the gothic mask is striking (think weeping angels meeting Kingdom of Heaven), and the glowing halo with three faces in the portals - one for each spec - is a masterpiece of storytelling. The Mythic version features a full flaming halo that looks divine.
Discipline Priest
2-Set: Penance damage and healing increased by 20%. Casting Penance reduces the cooldown of Mind Blast by 2 seconds.
4-Set: After casting Mind Blast, your next Power Word: Shield or Void Shield absorbs 25% more damage.
A flowing chain: spam Penance, feed Mind Blast, then buff your shields.
Holy Priest
2-Set: Each target affected by Renew increases your Haste by 2%, up to 3%.
4-Set: Renew healing increased by 10%. Lightweaver now has a 100% chance to deliver Renew on the first target of Prayer of Mending heals.
Shadow Priest
2-Set: Reduces the cooldown of Mind Spike and doubles its damage.
4-Set: Mind Spike makes your next Vampiric Touch instant, generates more Insanity, and summons stronger Shadowy Apparitions.
The Shadow bonuses create a satisfying sequence that genuinely rewards reaction time.
#2 - Paladin: Cathedral on Your Shoulders
This is the Templar-style French jousting helm Paladins have been waiting for. The flame effects, the rose-window cloak, the literal stained-glass appearance — you become a walking cathedral. The Mythic version glows beautifully, and the helm alone is one of the best in the game.
Holy Paladin Bonuses
2-Set: Infusion of Light increases the healing of Flash of Light by an additional 75% and the absorb from Greater Judgment by 25%.
4-Set: Judgment has a 20% chance to grant Infusion of Light. Holy Light has a 50% chance to grant Infusion of Light.
Protection Paladin Bonuses
2-Set: Consecration is 30% larger. Enemies inside it have their chance to be critically struck by you increased by 5%.
4-Set: Enemies struck by Judgment or Blessed Hammer take 20% additional Holy damage, increased by 200% on crits.
With Prot Pala already stacking crit, this could produce enormous crit damage windows.
Retribution Paladin Bonuses
2-Set: Divine Purpose has an additional 10% chance to activate; consuming it grants Divine Power, increasing Holy damage by 10% for 12 seconds.
4-Set: Consuming Divine Purpose with Divine Storm causes your next Final Verdict to be free and summon a Divine Arbiter dealing AoE Holy damage.
#3 - Rogue: The Shadow Hunter Set
A full Vol'jin / Zul'jin homage - tusks, feathers, wooden voodoo armor, an exposed midriff, a cloak, and a 3D necklace that finally clears tabards. This is the trolliest set in the patch and Rogues finally get something brutal and ceremonial instead of just stealthy.
Assassination Rogue Bonuses
2-Set: Envenom damage increased by 10%. Also boosts damage dealt by 3%.
4-Set: Deadly Poison increases blade damage on target by 10%. Auto-attacks on a target with Amplified Poison deal 2% more damage per attack, and Wound Poison hits a second time.
Outlaw Rogue Bonuses
2-Set: Dispatch damage increased by 15%.
4-Set: Sinister Strike and Ambush have a 12% chance to cause a free Dispatch dealing maximum combo-point damage.
Subtlety Rogue Bonuses
2-Set: Backstab costs 10 less energy and deals 100% increased damage. Shuriken Storm costs 5 less energy and deals 60% increased damage.
4-Set: Lingering Darkness now benefits Eviscerate and Black Powder at 100% effectiveness.
#4 - Monk: The Wukong / Monkey King Set
Monks get the Monkey King. It's whimsical, full of tassels, peacock feathers with proper physics, and a wooden mask painted with folk markings. Some Monks who love their Mists of Pandaria–style hats may not vibe with the shift, but it's joyful and unique.
Brewmaster Monk Bonuses
2-Set: Breath of Fire ignites your next Keg Smash, causing it to explode and deal Flame Strike damage.
4-Set: Ignited Keg Smashes cause enemies to take 8% increased physical damage and leave a burning patch.
Mistweaver Monk Bonuses
2-Set: Rising Sun Kick damage increased by 30%; Rising Wind Kick healing increased by 100%.
4-Set: Rising Sun Kick and Rising Wind Kick have a chance to make the next cast ignore cooldown and reduce mana cost by 100%.
Windwalker Monk Bonuses
2-Set: Fists of Fury strikes an additional time at the start of its channel at 50% effectiveness.
4-Set: Fists of Fury increases your next Rising Sun Kick damage by 10% OR Spinning Crane Kick by 20%, stacking up to six times.
#5 - Warlock: Damned Necrolyte's Shattered Restraint
Big shackles on the hands, corruption climbing up the arms, downturned horns on the hood, and one of the hottest neon glows of any Warlock set in recent memory. The torn-off sleeves tell a story - this is someone who broke free.
Affliction Warlock Bonuses
2-Set: 20% chance to refund a Soul Shard after spending one.
4-Set: Each active Unstable Affliction increases your spell damage by 2%, up to 6%. Seed of Corruption applies UA at 50% effectiveness.
Demonology Warlock Bonuses
2-Set: Wild Imp damage increased by 10%; Implosion damage increased by 20%.
4-Set: When their energy depletes, Wild Imps have a 20% chance to fling themselves at their target and implode at 150% effectiveness to the primary target and 125% to others.
Destruction Warlock Bonuses
2-Set: Incinerate damage increased by 25%; Incinerate has a 10% chance to evoke Echo of Sargeras.
4-Set: Targets damaged by Echo of Sargeras take 6% increased damage from Echo of Sargeras for 6 seconds.
#6 - Evoker: Echo of Calamity
Practically a Deathwing tribute set: molten scale armor, pulsating shoulders (the Mythic version is genuinely outrageous), and a Deathwing face on the cloak. Most of the set disappears in Dragon form, but the shoulders alone earn this its spot.
Devastation Evoker Bonuses
2-Set: Shattering Star damage increased by 150% and always casts as if at maximum empower level.
4-Set: Causality reduces the remaining cooldown of empower spells by 0.1 seconds per occurrence. Eternity Surge damage increased by 10%.
Preservation Evoker Bonuses
2-Set: Consuming Essence Burst sends a Living Flame at 150% effectiveness, redirecting to injured allies when target is at full health.
4-Set: Green spells restore 5% more health. Verdant Embrace has a 100% chance to grant Essence Burst.
Augmentation Evoker Bonuses
2-Set: Reduces Upheaval's cooldown by 10 seconds.
4-Set: Upheaval magnifies your Fate Mirror effects for 8 seconds, increasing damage echoed by 45%.
#7 - Hunter: Serpent Skin Stitched On
A janky old-school look reminiscent of TBC or Wrath, predator-style mask under a snake-skull hood, fangs everywhere, and yes, literal bloodstains on the trousers (this Hunter had an accident). The 3D necklace and shoulder glow are top-tier details.
Beast Mastery Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Barbed Shot causes your pet to Stomp one additional time at 50% effectiveness.
4-Set: Stomp causes your next Cobra Shot to either benefit from Beast Cleave at 20% effectiveness or strike your primary target with 30% additional damage, stacking up to four times.
Marksmanship Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Explosive Shot lasts 1 second longer and deals 20% increased damage.
4-Set: Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire damage increased by 5%. Each Explosive Shot burst reduces Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire cooldowns by 0.5 seconds.
Survival Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Raptor Strike (and Raptor Swipe) damage increased by 15%.
4-Set: Mongoose Fury also increases the damage of Wildfire Bomb by 10%.
#8 - Warrior: The Vrykul-Style Set
A Viking, Val'kyr, Vrykul aesthetic: swords on the side, fur ruff at the neck, talon gloves, and a rhino horn between two pierced ivory tusks. Not super on-theme for a troll patch, but striking on its own merits.
Arms Warrior Bonuses
2-Set: Mortal Strike damage increased by 10%. Slam now deals additional AoE damage within 8 yards.
4-Set: Overpower damage increased by 15%. Mortal Strike and Overpower both increase your next Slam's damage by 10%, stacking up to three times.
Fury Warrior Bonuses
2-Set: Raging Blow damage increased by 15%; during Recklessness, Raging Blow extends its duration by 2 seconds, up to 6 seconds.
4-Set: Bloodthirst damage increased by 10%; during Recklessness, Bloodthirst increases its crit bonus by 5%, up to 10%.
Protection Warrior Bonuses
2-Set: Free Revenges deal 15% additional damage and cause the next Shield Slam to deal 20% increased damage.
4-Set: Ravager and your free Revenges cause targets to bleed over 12 seconds. Ravager's cooldown reduced by 30 seconds.
#9 - Shaman: The Snake-Shouldered Troll
Massive serpent pauldrons are the showpiece, easily the most striking shoulder piece of the patch. Unfortunately, the rest of the set is intentionally toned down to let the shoulders sing, and during casting or hammer animations the snake heads end up looking awkward from certain angles.
Elemental Shaman
2-Set: Increases damage of Earth Shock, Elemental Blast, and Earthquake.
4-Set: When Stormkeeper or Ascendance ends, your next two Lightning Bolts, Chain Lightnings, or Lava Bursts deal extra damage, and your next spender costs 100% less Maelstrom.
Enhancement Shaman
2-Set: Your main target periodically erupts with Fire Nova damage. Single-target damage is amplified further.
4-Set: Reduces Crash Lightning's cooldown and significantly increases its damage.
Restoration Shaman
2-Set: Healing Wave or Chain Heal has a chance to create a Healing Rain at the target's location.
4-Set: Your Healing Rain provides an absorption shield to allies inside it.
#10 - Druid: Dead Tree Style
A nasty, hexy Druid set with massive feathers (Mythic only), dead branches that continue as ghost branches on the helm, and souped-up Night Elf colors. The silhouette is iconic but inconsistent across difficulties.
Balance Druid Bonuses
2-Set: Starsurge damage increased by 20%. Starfall deals immediate Astral damage to all enemies in range.
4-Set: Your damage is increased by 10% while in an Eclipse, waning to 2% at the midpoint then waxing back to 10%.
Feral Druid Bonuses
2-Set: When Berserk ends, you deal 10% increased damage for 1 second for each combo point spent during Berserk.
4-Set: Berserk duration extended by 10 seconds.
Guardian Druid Bonuses
2-Set: Thrash has a 20% chance to make your next Mangle deal 100% increased damage.
4-Set: Thrash calls up to three Thorns impaling the target and dealing AoE Nature damage; each thorn extends Incarnation: Guardian of Ursoc by 0.5 seconds, up to 5 seconds.
Restoration Druid Bonuses
2-Set: Rejuvenation has a 15% chance, and Nature's Swiftness a 100% chance, to grant Genesis — all HoTs heal for 25% more for 8 seconds, stackable.
4-Set: Genesis duration increased by 4 seconds; gaining Genesis grants Clearcasting.
#11 - Mage: Primal Leyweaver's Attire (tied)
Tied with Druid. Very Dragonflight in vibe — quilted robes, frosty rough hood, magic orb effects, with subtle troll motifs on the belt. It's the odd one out thematically, but the quilting, the metallic detail, and the furry hood work well.
Arcane Mage Bonuses
2-Set: Arcane Missiles fires one additional missile and deals 20% increased damage.
4-Set: Each wave of Arcane Missiles increases the damage of your next Arcane Blast, Arcane Pulse, or Prismatic Bolt by 5%, up to 40%.
Fire Mage Bonuses
2-Set: Pyroclasm causes Flame Strike and Pyroblast to always critically strike.
4-Set: Pyroclasm reduces the cast time of Flame Strike and Pyroblast by 20%, and its damage bonus is increased by 25%.
Frost Mage Bonuses
2-Set: Each stack of Freezing Shattered has a 5% chance to generate an Icicle. Glacial Spike damage further increased by 25%.
4-Set: Consuming Glacial Spike has a chance to grant a buff increasing Shatter damage by 15%.
#12 - Death Knight: Caged Skull Football
Caged skulls, a chest skull resembling a battle row, and an undead Blood Bowl player vibe. Visually it's technically excellent and the shoulders are amazing, but the contrast feels muted and the set doesn't quite spark joy in motion.
Blood Death Knight Bonuses
2-Set: Auto-attack speed increased by 15%. Crimson Scourge chance increased by an additional 5%.
4-Set: Increases your next Death and Decay damage by 100% and grants 5% critical strike chance (becomes Parry) for 8 seconds when consumed.
Frost Death Knight Bonuses
2-Set: Each time Remorseless Winter damages at least one enemy, you gain Frozen Tempest — 2% attack speed and 4% increased Icy Torrent damage for 5 seconds, stacking.
4-Set: Remorseless Winter deals damage 25% more frequently and Frozen Tempest lasts 5 seconds longer.
Unholy Death Knight Bonuses
2-Set: Magus of the Dead and Lord of the Dead now cast Necrotic Bolt instead of Frost Bolt and Withering Grasp instead of Shadow Bolt.
4-Set: Buffs the damage of Necrotic Bolt and Withering Grasp; Withering Grasp gains an execute component.
The Lich-creation Arthas fantasy is cool, but Blood and Unholy bonuses feel passive, Frost is by far the most exciting DK spec here.
#13 - Demon Hunter: Abyssal Doom Hound's Pursuit
Doom Hound shoulders that scream and animate (Mythic gets a pink glow that elevates it), Flintstone-style bone leg wraps, and a Batman-and-Robin masquerade mask. Goofy in places, but the chunky studded gloves and golden jaw trim are nice touches. It's the lowest-ranked of the bunch, it suggested a troll theme but never committed.
Havoc Demon Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Blade Dance, Chaos Strike, and Essence Break deal 12% increased damage. Essence Break now benefits from Cycle of Hatred effects, has 25% increased initial damage, and a 2-second longer duration.
4-Set: Boosts Essence Break interactions with Drakonid Weaver gameplay.
Vengeance Demon Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Sigil of Flame damage over time increased by 50%. Soul Cleave extends Sigil of Flame duration on your primary target by 2 seconds.
4-Set: Immolation Aura and Sigil of Spite deal 100% increased damage against targets afflicted by Sigil of Flame.
Devourer Demon Hunter Bonuses
2-Set: Harvesting four or more soul fragments using Reap has a 20% chance to make the next Consume instant cast and explode in a Soul Burst dealing Cosmic damage to nearby enemies.
4-Set: Soul Burst generates 8 soul fragments immediately and grants Moment of Craving, allowing Reap to consume more souls instantly.
Devourer is genuinely the most exciting DH set, a real feedback loop rather than passive damage.
Patch 12.1 brings one of the most experimental and bold Tier Set seasons we've seen in years. While not every set leans into the troll aesthetic of the Coiled Isle, the gameplay bonuses are genuinely exciting — many of them rework core rotations and reward hero spec choices in meaningful ways. Priest, Paladin, and Rogue lead the visual pack, while specs like Outlaw Rogue, Holy Paladin, and Affliction Warlock look set to receive enormous mechanical boosts.
Remember that PTR values are not final — expect adjustments to numbers, visuals, and possibly entire bonus reworks over the coming weeks before 12.1 officially launches. Pick your main early, test the rotations on the PTR if you can, and prepare for one of the most varied tier-set seasons in recent memory.
