PoE 2 0.5 Kalguuran Skill Tier List - Ranking Best Kalguuran Skills & Builds

May 28, 2026 Path of Exile 2

The new Kalguuran skills revealed for Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5 look very different from traditional PoE skills because they introduce an entirely new resource system built around Runic Ward instead of mana. Read this PoE 2 0.5 Kalguuran skill tier list, we ranked the best Kalguuran skills and potential builds.

PoE 2 0.5 Best Kalguuran Skills & Builds Ranked

Based on the teaser, these skills appear designed to create highly specialized utility-heavy archetypes rather than straightforward “spam one button” meta builds. Some of them already look potentially meta-defining for minions, ailment setups, and crowd control, while others currently seem more experimental or niche unless hidden synergies are discovered later. In this PoE 2 0.5 Kalguuran skill tier list, we rank the strongest revealed Kalguuran skills so far, analyze which abilities may become meta-defining, explain which skills currently seem weak or highly situational, and explore the most promising build archetypes and synergies that could dominate the new league.

S Tier

Eternal March

Eternal March immediately stands out as one of the strongest Kalguuran skills revealed so far because it solves one of the biggest weaknesses of minion builds: recovery after your army dies. The ability instantly revives dead minions by spending Runic Ward, effectively functioning like a panic button for summoners during difficult boss fights. In PoE 2, where bosses can wipe minions extremely quickly, having a fast recovery tool on only a short cooldown could massively improve consistency for builds like:

• Minion Army Witch

• Zookeeper Spirit Walker

• Infernal Legion Elephant

• Wolf Minions

It also has huge synergy potential with minion explosion mechanics because instantly reviving large groups of minions creates constant corpse generation and reactivation loops. This skill alone could indirectly buff almost every major summoner archetype in Patch 0.5.

Bitter End

Bitter End looks like one of the most mechanically interesting skills revealed. It transforms corpses into chilling cores that seek enemies before exploding into cold DoT runes. Mechanically, it resembles a hybrid between Volatile Dead,  Cold DoT and lingering ground effects. This has huge potential because corpse skills traditionally scale extremely well in PoE. The automatic seeking behavior also solves targeting and clear issues that many cold builds struggle with. Potential archetypes include:

• Cold DoT Occultist-style builds

• Corpse chain reaction setups

• Freeze/chill control builds

• Cast-on-freeze archetypes

Depending on scaling, Bitter End could become one of the strongest mapping skills among the Kalguuran reveals.

A Tier

Repulsion

Repulsion looks surprisingly powerful because it combines AoE explosions, knockback, fragility scaling and stun buildup. This could become extremely valuable in PoE 2’s slower and more dangerous combat environment where positioning matters much more than PoE 1. The interaction between fragility and stun buildup suggests this may become a powerful support skill for:

• melee builds

• slam builds

• stun archetypes

• heavy hit physical setups

If the explosion scaling is decent, Repulsion could even become part of a chain-reaction clear setup similar to old Profane Bloom style gameplay.

B Tier

Conductive Runes

Conductive Runes has some potential because electrocution is still relatively rare in PoE 2, but trap-style hazard gameplay traditionally struggles unless the damage payoff is extremely high. The delayed arming and requirement for enemies to step onto runes could make mapping feel awkward compared to smoother meta skills. However, it may still work in:

• zone control builds

• corridor-heavy content

• electrocution stacking setups

• defensive caster archetypes

The skill likely depends entirely on how strong electrocution scaling becomes in Patch 0.5.

Fragment of the Past

Fragment of the Past looks more like a supplementary skill rather than a true main skill. Since it repeatedly triggers Ice Fragments around a volcanic zone, it may work best as supplemental single-target DPS, freeze support abd secondary proc damage. It could synergize with:

• Freezing Salvo

• Ice Shot

• Cross Slash

• freeze threshold scaling

But based on the reveal alone, it does not currently look powerful enough to define a standalone build archetype.

C Tier

Runic Reprieve

Runic Reprieve currently looks underwhelming because it essentially functions like raising a shield manually while consuming Runic Ward. The problem is that most endgame PoE players generally prefer proactive defenses mobility, freezy, block, suppression and kill-before-being-hit gameplay. Spending a skill slot to stand still and channel defense may simply not fit PoE 2’s endgame pacing unless specific boss mechanics require it. It may find niche use in:

• hardcore

• ultra tank builds

• slow shield archetypes

But right now it looks far weaker than the more offensive Kalguuran skills.

Most Interesting Synergies & Archetypes

Minion Builds Get Huge Indirect Buffs

The biggest winner from these reveals may actually be minion builds because Eternal March dramatically improves recovery and consistency during boss fights. PoE 2 bosses are designed to punish stationary armies, so instant resurrection mechanics are incredibly valuable. Potentially buffed builds:

• Zookeeper Spirit Walker

• Minion Army Witch

• Infernal Legion Elephant

• Wolf Minions

• Spectre builds

This may push summoners even higher in the 0.5 meta.

Armor Break + Projectile Builds

Rune Forge Blade has strong synergy potential with:

• armor break mechanics

• poison corrosion

• gas cloud setups

• projectile chaining

• pierce scaling

The interaction where projectiles fire after fully breaking armor could create rapid shotgun-style clearing if scaled correctly. Classes like:

• Huntress

• Deadeye

• Amazon

• Gemling

may find ways to abuse projectile scaling here.

Cold & Freeze Archetypes

Several Kalguuran skills strongly support cold gameplay:

• Bitter End

• Fragment of the Past

Since freeze remains one of the strongest defensive mechanics in PoE 2, cold archetypes may benefit heavily from these additions. Even after freeze threshold nerfs, these skills may compensate by adding:

• chill zones

• repeated freeze buildup

• corpse explosions

• lingering cold DoTs

This could revive slower tactical freeze builds in the meta.
