Season 14 of Diablo 2 Resurrected, the second season of Reign of the Warlock, launches May 22, 2026 at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET. With Patch 3.2 now live ahead of the ladder reset, Blizzard has rebalanced the Warlock, reworked Heralds and Sunder Charm drops, and pushed sweeping universal buffs through new jewels, charms, and uniques that lift nearly every class by 20–50% effective damage. Here is the updated D2R Season 14 tier list and best builds ranking.
D2R Season 14 Best Class & Build Tier List (3.2 RotW)
The 3.2.0 patch is almost entirely focused on the Warlock. Echoing Strike received a combination of bug fixes and direct nerfs that reduce its output to roughly 12–13% of its pre-patch damage, it now requires attack rating, consumes weapon durability, and has its damage bonus corrected from multiplicative to additive. Bind Demon went from a one-point wonder to a 20-hard-point commitment for super uniques, the cursed affix proc rate dropped from 75% to 5%, and Conviction was removed from the random aura pool. Two-handed weapons now require a Grimoire in the off-hand instead of a shield, killing Spirit and Phoenix setups. Fire skills took hits across the board, with Ring of Fire reduced to Frost Nova levels and Flame Wave receiving a 15% damage reduction, though Apocalypse remains untouched. On the non-class side, Sunder Charms now drop from any monster using magic find, Heralds spawn far more frequently with the intent of two per terrorized zone, Colossal Ancient Statues drop from non-terrorized act bosses, and player count no longer modifies World Stone Shard or Sunder Charm drop rates, all of which ease the gearing path for every class equally. These changes reshape the class hierarchy for Season 14 in a meaningful way, and the following tier list reflects where each class is expected to land.
1. Warlock (S Tier)
Even after a wave of targeted nerfs with the 3.2 patch, the Warlock holds onto the top spot in Season 14, just barely. Echoing Strike lost its multiplicative damage stacking, Bound Demon's free Conviction is gone, and the universal jewel/charm buffs lifted every other class closer to its level. But the Tainted minion build and the Abyss/Miasma Chains magic build are still the two single strongest options in the game. Blade Warp turret setups remain unmatched for boss damage, and the new Pus Spitter Lower Resist source makes Tainted accessible to budget players for the first time. The Warlock is no longer broken, it is finally balanced, and that's why it still leads.
Best Warlock Builds in Season 14:
Tainted Warlock / Taintlock (S Tier) - The strongest build of the season. Three Tainted minions launch 15k–20k fireballs with explosion radius and chase enemies, dropping to roughly 10k on partial gear. Patch 3.2 reduced Blood Boil synergy from 30% to 20% per point, but the skill now correctly counts as a fire skill, meaning Magefist and Flickering Flame finally work. Engorge and Demonic Mastery's attack speed are now skill-based, giving you a much bigger effective IAS pool. Source a Lower Resist proc via Infinity, Plague, or Pus Spitter through Mirrored Blades.
Abyss Magic Warlock (S Tier) - Miasma Chains now allows up to 10 active chains (up from 5), the casting delay is removed, Blade Warp no longer breaks chains, and Enhanced Entropy properly grants the Abyss radius bonus (capped at 11 yards). Stack Sling, Geed's Wager, Arreat's Law, Mephisto's grimoire, and Hell Warden's Will for monstrous -magic resist scaling. Players-8 farming is trivial.
Hex Purge Echoing Strike Warlock (A Tier) - The full Echoing Strike build lost massive damage to the multiplicative-to-additive fix, but the Hex Purge variant triggers 5 explosions per volley and is now arguably the best way to play this skill. Weapon damage contribution is up from 75% to 90%, and the durability loss was officially reverted: ethereal Death, Doom, and Breath of the Dying are now a feature. Echoing Strike no longer auto-hits, so attack rating matters again; bring Angelics, Demon Limb prebuff, or a Blessed Aim merc.
Mirrored Blades Bow Warlock (A Tier) - Multiple flavors are viable in 3.2: fire, magic, physical, and a surprisingly intact Proc Lock. Mirrored Blades + Pus Spitter doubles as the cheapest endgame Lower Resist source for the Taintlock, making this a great starter or hybrid build.
Summon Warlock / Bind Demon (B Tier) - Bound Demon is much more reliable now. Bind chance scales from 20% (up from 10%) to 56% (up from 25%). There's an audio cue when a target can't be bound, frenzied demons are bindable, and the invulnerability bug is fixed. Demonic Mastery hits 2 demons at 5 points (was 10) and 3 at 10 points (was 20). Cursed demons were heavily nerfed (Amp proc 75% → 5%), but the build is still a fun, low-input option.
2. Paladin (S Tier)
The Paladin returns to top-tier dominance in Season 14, propelled by the universal magic-damage buff stack and the new -magic resist item flood. The Hammerdin was already strong; combined with Hell Warden's Will, Sling, Geed's Wager, Void, and a Guardian Jewel, it can now stack roughly -40% enemy magic resistance before facets, territory the build has never reached before. The Smiter remains the unchallenged Uber farmer, and Fist of the Heavens has its own quiet renaissance from the new +magic skill damage stat that appears to scale Holy Bolt. The Paladin also benefits indirectly from the Warlock nerfs: in party play, the Paladin's native Conviction and Fanaticism auras matter again now that free Conviction from a one-point Bind Demon is gone.
Best Paladin Builds in Season 14:
Hammerdin (S Tier) - Re-enters the top tier thanks to magic-damage stacking. New FCR sources let you replace Spirit with Herald of Zakarum, and a realistic Blessed Hammer setup pushes 14k+ on-screen damage before resist multipliers. Blessed Hammer's magic damage bypasses most immunities even without a Sunder, and Enigma still pushes farming speed into a class of its own.
Smiter (A Tier) - The Uber king is untouched. Smite's guaranteed hit, crushing blow stacking, and lifetap proc from Dracul's Grasp remain the gold standard for Torch farming. Every ladder season needs a Smiter, and Season 14 is no exception.
FoHdin / Fist of the Heavens (B Tier) - Holy Bolt tentatively scales with the new +magic skill damage stat, making this a build worth experimenting with in 3.2. Pairs well with a lightning Sunder for dense Hell content. Not quite as flexible as Hammerdin, but a strong second option for players who like the playstyle.
Holy Freeze Paladin / Auradin (B Tier) - Picks up a clean -15% cold resist from the new Renewed Thunder Charm + Guardian Jewel stack. Dream helms and Dragon armors still create potent aura-stacking setups. Solid for players who enjoy melee Paladin gameplay, though not as efficient for raw farming speed.
3. Sorceress (S Tier)
The Sorceress lands firmly in S-tier this season largely because of a single quality-of-life breakthrough: Bow Sorceress can finally hit the 105 FCR breakpoint thanks to Hell Warden's Will's combined IAS and FCR roll. That alone reshapes one of the most popular budget-friendly farming builds in the game. The traditional caster Sorc variants: Blizzard, Lightning, and Fire, all benefit from the universal buff stack as well, with Lightning Sorc gaining notably from a Guardian Jewel slotted into Griffon's Eye plus the lightning Renewed Thunder Charm. Sorceress also remains the queue starter, the merc-rusher, and the build most newcomers default to.
Best Sorceress Builds in Season 14:
Bow Sorceress / Enchantress (S Tier) - For the first time, this build hits the 105 FCR breakpoint without sacrificing Shaels or IAS jewels. Max Enchant + synergies, Energy Shield, and Telekinesis with a 15 FCR amulet and two FCR rings get you there. Drop to 63 FCR with Tal's armor and Chance Guards if you want a Magic Find variant. Hybrid frozen orb handles fire immunes early. Cheap to start, excellent on dense packs.
Lightning Sorceress (B Tier) - Big winner from the Guardian Jewel + Griffon's Eye combo and the new lightning Renewed Thunder Charm. Stacks enough -enemy lightning res to handle Hell without needing a lightning Sunder in most cases.
Blizzard Sorceress (B Tier) - Picks up a clean -10% to -20% cold resist from the new charm + jewel stack. Still the premier MF and Mausoleum farmer.
Meteorb / Fire Sorceress (B Tier) - Benefits from the same universal buffs and the new fire-skill scaling on Flickering Flame. Solid all-around clearing option.
4. Barbarian (A Tier)
Season 14 turns the Barbarian into the undisputed Herald-hunting and horking king. With Heralds spawning roughly twice as often per full game clear (70–90 vs. 30–40) and Sunder Charm drop rates buffed dramatically at tier 3+, the Barb's ability to Find Item every fallen Herald is more valuable than ever. The Whirlwind/Berserk hybrid leveraging Azurewrath in the off-hand is the centerpiece - Sanctuary's 500%+ damage to undead, plus its magic and cold damage, nearly matches Grief's demon damage on the main hand. Berserk handles thorns Heralds without self-killing, while Whirlwind clears trash and refills mana. The Barb's mercenary problem (Act 2 mercs die on thorns Heralds) doesn't apply, since Barbs run mercless or with an Act 1 Rogue easily.
Best Barbarian Builds in Season 14:
Whirlwind / Berserk Hybrid (S Tier) - The defining Barb build of the season. Grief main / Azurewrath offhand, Bone Break unique, Geed's Wager, Opal Vein, and a dual-leech FCR ring. 20 WW / 20 Berserk / Max BO with excess points into Find Potion (which buffs Grim Ward for high-tier Heralds). Affordable and unmatched at Herald horking.
Magic Berserk Barb (A Tier) - A different Azurewrath flavor using the magic Guardian Jewel. Sanctuary's physical boost applies before Berserk's magic conversion, scaling Berserk damage. One point in WW for leech, snipe-focused playstyle. Excellent for thorns-heavy content.
Frenzy Barb (B Tier) - Still a solid leveling and clearing build, helped marginally by the universal physical buff stack. Less optimal than WW/Zerk hybrid for Season 14's Herald-focused meta, but fun for players who prefer dual-wielding aggression.
Singer Barb / War Cry (B Tier) - Magic damage scaling makes War Cry slightly more interesting with Hell Warden's Will and Opal Vein, though it remains a niche pick.
5. Necromancer (B Tier)
The Necromancer is one of the biggest quiet winners of Patch 3.2. The universal magic-damage buff stack: Sling, Opal Vein (FCR + magic/poison skill damage), Hell Warden's Will, and the magic Renewed Thunder Charm, pushes Bone Spear into legitimate top-tier farming territory for the first time in years. Poison Necromancer also benefits from new poison-skill-damage rolls on Opal Vein. Summonmancer remains the safest leveling option in the game, and Curse utility (Amp, Lower Resist, Decrepify) is still mandatory in party play. The only thing holding the Necro out of S-tier is that its top builds don't quite match the raw clear speed of Hammerdin or Tainted Warlock, but they're closer than they've been in a long time.
Best Necromancer Builds in Season 14:
Bone Spear Necromancer / Bonemancer (A Tier) - The biggest winner of the patch. Stack Sling, Opal Vein, Hell Warden's Will, and the magic Renewed Thunder Charm for massive -enemy magic resistance and +magic skill damage scaling. Bone Spear now legitimately competes with Hammerdin for caster supremacy.
Summonmancer (A Tier) - Untouched but still excellent. Skeleton Mages benefit from the universal element-specific buffs, and the build remains the most forgiving entry point in the game. Pairs naturally with Lower Resist for any farming.
Poison Necromancer / Poisonmancer (B Tier) - Opal Vein's poison-skill-damage variant adds a new scaling source. Still a niche pick versus Bone Spear, but more competitive than in past seasons.
Daggermancer / Novamancer (B Tier) - Bone Spirit Nova benefits from the same magic-damage stack. Strong single-target boss killing in a Bonemancer hybrid.
6. Amazon (A Tier)
The Amazon makes a comfortable A-tier showing in Season 14, with Plague Javazon and Lightning Javazon both gaining massively from negative resistance stacking. Lightning Javazon can stack past -130% lightning resistance in full gear by combining a Guardian Jewel in Griffon's Eye with the new lightning Renewed Thunder Charm. Plague Javazon picks up similar scaling for poison from Opal Vein and the poison Guardian Jewel. Even better, Amazon gear is significantly cheaper to acquire this season because the majority of players are chasing Warlock setups. Bowazon variants benefit from the new +magic skill damage and bow uniques. The Amazon is the value pick for ladder players who want power without paying Hammerdin or Warlock prices.
Best Amazon Builds in Season 14:
Lightning Javazon (A Tier) - Stacks past -130% lightning resistance with Griffon's + Guardian Jewel + Renewed Thunder Charm. Still one of the fastest cow and dense-pack farmers in the game.
Plague Javazon / Poison Javazon (B Tier) - Stacks negative poison resistance from Guardian Jewel + Sunder + Opal Vein. Gear is much cheaper this season because most players are chasing Warlock setups, excellent ladder value pick.
Multishot Bowazon (B Tier) - Benefits from Bone Break and the universal physical buff stack. Faith remains the best-in-slot bow, and the build clears dense areas surprisingly well at budget.
Freezealot / Cold Javazon (B Tier) - Picks up cold-resist stacking from the cold Guardian Jewel and Renewed Thunder Charm. Niche but viable hybrid pick.
7. Assassin (A Tier)
The Assassin lands in A-tier on the back of Mosaic and Phoenix Strike, both of which benefit substantially from the universal -res buffs. Mosaic Sin stacks lightning, fire, and cold scaling simultaneously, meaning any of the three Guardian Jewel + Renewed Thunder Charm combos add real damage. Phoenix Strike's fire and lightning charges similarly enjoy the new element-specific scaling. Traps remain strong, with Lightning Sentry gaining the same lightning res stacking as Lightning Sorc and Lightning Javazon. The Assassin's biggest weakness - high gear floor - is partially mitigated by cheaper Mosaic and Treachery prices this season.
Best Assassin Builds in Season 14:
Mosaic Assassin (A Tier) - Stacks gains from multiple Guardian Jewel and Renewed Thunder Charm combos simultaneously, since charges trigger fire, lightning, and cold damage. Still the highest-DPS martial arts build in the game.
Lightning Trap Assassin / Trapsin (A Tier) - Gains the same lightning res stacking as Lightning Javazon and Lightning Sorc. Lightning Sentry's safety + new damage scaling makes this a top farming pick.
Phoenix Strike Assassin (B Tier) - Fire and lightning charges benefit from the new element-specific scaling. Strong hybrid option with built-in immunity coverage.
Whirlwind Assassin / Death Sentry Hybrid (B Tier) - Niche but functional. Benefits marginally from the universal physical buff stack via Chaos.
8. Druid (C Tier)
The Druid is the one class that genuinely picked up nothing fundamental new in Patch 3.2. Wind Druid still hits hard with Hurricane and Tornado, Fire Druid still clears with Fissure and Volcano, and the Summon Druid still spawns wolves and a Grizzly — but none of the headline universal buffs target the Druid's defining mechanics. Wind Druid technically benefits from the cold Renewed Thunder Charm for Hurricane, and Fire Druid picks up the fire-skill-damage scaling on Flickering Flame, but neither moves the needle enough to leapfrog the buffed competition. The Druid remains perfectly viable for solo Hell farming, just no longer top-tier in a meta where every other class got 20–50% stronger.
Best Druid Builds in Season 14:
Wind Druid (B Tier) - Hurricane gains marginally from the cold Renewed Thunder Charm and Guardian Jewel. Tornado's physical damage is unchanged. Still a respected farmer, just no longer competing for the top spot.
Fire Druid (B Tier) - Picks up the fire-skill-damage scaling on Flickering Flame and Magefist. Fissure remains the centerpiece. Solid but not exceptional.
Summon Druid (B Tier) - Untouched. Wolves and Grizzly still tank well, and the build remains the safest Druid leveling option. Hybrid with Wind for clear speed.
Fury Werewolf / Werebear (B Tier) - Benefits marginally from the physical Guardian Jewel and universal buffs, but melee Druid remains a build for enthusiasts rather than min-maxers.
Best D2R Builds Recommended
For new players or ladder starters: Warlock remains the easiest to gear and level, with Ring of Fire and Flame Wave still functional for early progression despite slight nerfs.
For experienced players looking for something different: Whirlwind/Berserk Barbarian offers excellent Herald farming with Horking, Thorns immunity via Berserk, and cheap gearing.
For magic find farming: Bow Sorceress with the 63 FCR setup offers speed clearing with magic find gear flexibility.
For pushing damage limits: Taint Lock or Abyss Magic Warlock with full gear will have the highest ceiling damage output this season.
For budget-conscious players: Lightning Javazon or Hammerdin benefit enormously from relatively accessible new items while avoiding the inflated prices of Warlock gear.
How do the 3.2 Changes and Season 14 Mechanics Affect Every Class?
Guardian/Protector Jewels
-10% enemy resist + 10% skill damage of a matching element. The physical version is the standout — 15–20% Enhanced Damage and 10–30 flat damage function as on-weapon enhancement when socketed into a weapon.
Critical bug warning: never socket a Guardian Jewel into a helmet or armor that also has Min/Max damage. The legacy Min/Max + Enhanced Damage bug causes the ED to apply to only one damage value. Always socket Guardian Jewels into weapons.
Renewed Thunder Charms
Either +10% skill damage or -10% enemy resist. Combined with the jewel, every build gains -5%/+5% to -15% effective resist swing minimum.
New Magic-Damage Items
Hell Warden's Will (up to -10% magic res, +10% magic skill damage, IAS + FCR), Sling ring (-magic res), Opal Vein ring (+poison/magic skill damage variants, FCR), a new magic-skill-damage amulet, Void, Geed's Wager, Arreat's Law, and Mephisto's grimoire. These give real scaling to Bone Spear, Blessed Hammer, Holy Bolt, and Warlock magic skills that previously had no source outside facets.
Mercenary Choice for Season 14
Avoid Act 2 and Act 5 mercs. Heralds spawn frequently and many carry Thorns. Physical melee mercs will one-shot themselves on Thorns Heralds and can't out-leech the damage when they miss. Best is the Act 1 Rogue: ranged, leeches, doesn't trigger Thorns reflect, and scales with the new Bone Break bow. Second-best is the Act 3 Iron Wolf: spellcaster, no thorns death, but lacks leech. Workaround: Act 5 merc with dual Lawbringers (zero physical damage), losing the leech identity.
Herald Thorns Bug Fixed
The Herald thorns double-tick bug is fixed in 3.2, but Thorns is still lethal to fast-attacking physical melee. Reflect is proportional, physical-only, and melee-only (Berserk's magic conversion bypasses this). Attacker Takes Damage Of is flat 80–250 per swing, melee-only, and triggers on attempt even if you miss, regardless of damage type. A 1,680 HP character can self-kill in roughly 7 hits. Avoid melee unless you fully understand the mechanic, Conviction/Conversion Paladins can even kill themselves on their own thorns when monsters convert back.
Heralds & Sunder Charms in Season 14
Total Heralds per full game clear roughly doubled to 70–90 (up from 30–40). Tier 1 and 2 Heralds spawn less frequently than PTR; tier 3–5 spawn more, more uniform pacing. Sunder Charms are now in the regular Herald loot table, with 2x drop chance from tier 3 and 4 and 3x from tier 5. The drop rate increase is no longer modified by /players count, favoring solo players. A lightning storm telegraphs Herald spawns with a 5-second warning. Heralds gain less HP per tier (+250 instead of +500) and less damage per tier (+25 instead of +50). Spawning a new Herald (not killing) increases your tier, no more being stuck on an unkillable one. The double Herald spawn bug is prevented.
Colossal Ancients (Patch 3.2)
Made noticeably harder, they continuously summon up to 5 minions, magic resistance increased 50% → 70% (hurting Hammerdin and Magic Warlock), and Tal's whirlwind, fire twisters, cold fissure, and thunderstorm all do more damage. Statues now also drop from non-terrorized act bosses at a reduced rate, so you don't need to grind terrorized bosses exclusively.
