D2R Season 14 Tier List - Best Class & Builds Ranking (3.2 RotW)

Patch 3.2.0 marks the first major balance update since the Reign of the Warlock expansion launched, and it lands hard. The Warlock, the class that dominated every ladder leaderboard, every trade economy, and every piece of content in Season 13, is being pulled back toward the pack. Meanwhile, every other class stays exactly where it was, which means the relative power rankings across all eight classes are shifting for Season 14. If you're planning your ladder starter or mapping out a build for the long haul, this is where each class and its top builds land after the dust settles.

D2R Season 14 Best Class & Build Tier List (3.2 RotW)

The 3.2.0 patch is almost entirely focused on the Warlock. Echoing Strike received a combination of bug fixes and direct nerfs that reduce its output to roughly 12–13% of its pre-patch damage — it now requires attack rating, consumes weapon durability, and has its damage bonus corrected from multiplicative to additive. Bind Demon went from a one-point wonder to a 20-hard-point commitment for super uniques, the cursed affix proc rate dropped from 75% to 5%, and Conviction was removed from the random aura pool. Two-handed weapons now require a Grimoire in the off-hand instead of a shield, killing Spirit and Phoenix setups. Fire skills took hits across the board, with Ring of Fire reduced to Frost Nova levels and Flame Wave receiving a 15% damage reduction, though Apocalypse remains untouched. On the non-class side, Sunder Charms now drop from any monster using magic find, Heralds spawn far more frequently with the intent of two per terrorized zone, Colossal Ancient Statues drop from non-terrorized act bosses, and player count no longer modifies World Stone Shard or Sunder Charm drop rates, all of which ease the gearing path for every class equally. These changes reshape the class hierarchy for Season 14 in a meaningful way, and the following tier list reflects where each class is expected to land.

1. Paladin (S Tier)

The Warlock's fall from the top puts the Paladin right back on the throne, a position it held for most of Diablo 2's lifespan. Nothing in 3.2.0 touches the Paladin. Blessed Hammer still ignores most resistances, Smite still guarantees hits against Ubers, and the Paladin's gear flexibility from Spirit to Enigma to Grief remains unmatched. With Sunder Charms now far easier to obtain, builds that previously struggled against specific immunities can patch those holes faster than ever. The Paladin also benefits indirectly from the Warlock nerfs: in party play, the Paladin's native Conviction and Fanaticism auras become more valuable now that free Conviction from a one-point Bind Demon is gone. Multiple community voices echoed the sentiment — "Hammerdin is back on the menu" was one of the most upvoted reactions to the patch notes, and for good reason.

Best Paladin Builds for Season 14:

  • Hammerdin (S Tier) - Still the most reliable all-around farming build in the game. Blessed Hammer deals magic damage, bypasses most immunities without a Sunder, and scales well from budget gear through endgame. Enigma pushes it into the top speed-farming tier, but even with budget Teleport alternatives, this build clears everything.

  • Smiter (A Tier) - The Uber king hasn't changed. Smite's guaranteed hit, crushing blow stacking, and lifetap proc from Dracul's Grasp remain the gold standard for Torch farming. Every ladder season needs a Smiter, and that won't change in Season 14.

  • FoHdin / Fist of the Heavens (A Tier) - Gained traction in recent seasons as a strong alternative to Hammerdin for specific content. Deals holy bolt and lightning damage, pairs well with a lightning Sunder, and has a much easier time in dense areas. Not quite as flexible as Hammerdin, but a strong second option.

  • Zealot / Auradin (B Tier) - Fun and viable with the right gear. Dream helms and Dragon armors create potent aura-stacking setups. Not as efficient for raw farming speed, but solid for players who enjoy melee Paladin gameplay.

2. Sorceress (S Tier)

The Sorceress reclaims her eternal position as the best ladder starter in the game. With native Teleport, strong early-game damage from Frozen Orb or Blizzard, and the best magic find setups available, the Sorceress is once again the obvious first character for most players. The 3.2.0 patch doesn't touch her at all, and the improved Sunder Charm accessibility means she can patch her elemental weaknesses faster than before. The old meta — roll a Sorceress to farm gear, then build another class — is firmly back in place now that the Warlock's early-game power has been reduced and its endgame dominance brought down. Static Field, Teleport, and the sheer variety of viable elemental builds keep the Sorceress at the top of the list for Season 14 starters.

Best Sorceress Builds for Season 14:

  • Lightning / Nova Sorceress (S Tier) - With proper gear (Infinity, Griffon's Eye), Lightning or Nova Sorceress is one of the fastest farming builds in the game. The lightning Sunder Charm becoming easier to obtain accelerates the transition from starter to endgame powerhouse.

  • Blizzard Sorceress (A Tier) - The definitive magic find build. Cold Mastery, Blizzard, and a Shako/Oculus/Skullder's setup can farm Mephisto, Ancient Tunnels, and other key areas from Day 1. Budget-friendly and effective throughout the entire ladder.

  • Frozen Orb / Fireball (Meteorb) (A Tier) - The dual-element hybrid remains a top ladder starter because it handles almost every immunity without needing a Sunder. Not as specialized as pure builds, but the versatility is hard to beat during the first week of a ladder.

  • Hydra / Fireball (B+ Tier) - A popular fire build that gained ground in previous seasons. Strong for specific farming spots and pairs well with a fire Sunder. The Hydra limit mechanic (similar to what happened with Miasma Chains) keeps it below the top options.

3. Warlock (A Tier)

Even after the barrage of nerfs in 3.2.0, the Warlock is not dead, not even close. Multiple top players and theorycrafters agree that the class still has enough raw power across its various build paths to compete with any class in the game. The Fire tree barely took a scratch: Apocalypse was not touched at all, and Flame Wave's 15% reduction still leaves it as one of the hardest-hitting skills available. The Tainted Summoner build actually got a massive buff through the Blood Boil synergy fix, which was previously non-functional. Mirrored Blades, which several prominent creators have called the actual best Warlock skill all along, received zero nerfs. What the Warlock lost is its absurd ease of play and its one-point-wonder access to god-tier demons, free Conviction, and permanent Amplify Damage. You now have to make real build decisions, invest hard points into Bind Demon and Demonic Mastery, solve attack rating for Echoing Strike, and use a Grimoire instead of a shield with your two-hander. The class dropped from what one content creator called "Diablo III territory" back into the D2 range — and that range is still very high.

Best Warlock Builds for Season 14:

  • Flame Wave / Apocalypse Fire Warlock (S Tier) - Apocalypse was not nerfed at all, and Flame Wave at 85% of its former power is still among the strongest skills in the game. The leveling experience won't be as smooth now that Ring of Fire does Frost Nova damage, but from mid-game onward this build scales well. You don't depend on attack rating, durability, or heavy demon investment to function. Spirit Shield is gone, but Obsession as a two-hander plus a Grimoire still provides a workable FCR setup. Fire Warlock was already a 60-point build at its core, which leaves room for 10–15 points into Bind Demon for a supportive demon with Fanaticism or Holy Freeze.

  • Tainted Summoner - Taint Lock (S Tier) - The sleeper hit of the patch. The Summon Tainted synergy from Blood Boil was bugged and never worked in Season 13, now it does, adding 30% damage per level. One creator tested the numbers and found the sheet damage jumping from roughly 3,700 per Tainted to over 26,000 per Tainted. With three Tainteds active, that's roughly 7x the damage of the pre-patch version. The build runs on a 60-point core (Tainted + Blood Boil + Demonic Mastery), leaving plenty of room for hex skills, survivability, or Bind Demon investment. Blade Warp teleporting into packs and watching three Tainteds explode everything is both effective and satisfying.

  • Mirrored Blades Melee or Ranged Warlock (A Tier) - Completely untouched by the 3.2.0 patch. Multiple creators have called this the actual best Warlock skill all along, overshadowed only because Echoing Strike was so overtuned. Mirrored Blades is a 20-point investment that works with melee weapons, bows, proc builds, physical damage, and elemental setups. The ranged bow version is immune to Thorns — a huge advantage against Thorns Heralds. Pairs naturally with Cleave for AoE and with the hex skills for supplementary damage.

  • Echoing Strike Warlock (A Tier) - Dropped from its uncontested S-tier throne but remains functional. Even at roughly one-tenth of its previous output, it was so far above everything else that it still lands in A tier for raw clearing speed on trash mobs. The build is now harder to play: you need to manage attack rating (Angelic Ring + Amulet is a strong starter option), cast Sigil Lethargy and Hexbane regularly, deal with weapon durability, and invest real points into your demon setup. Weapons with ignore target's defense or minus enemy defense gain value. Grief, with its flat damage, might see a comeback. Boss kills and Uber runs will take noticeably longer, but the build still works.

  • Cleave Melee Warlock (B+ Tier) - With Echoing Strike brought down and the physical damage meta reorganized around proper attack rating and durability management, Cleave becomes a much more attractive melee option. It doesn't suffer from the multiplicative-to-additive damage fix because it never had that bug. Natural attack rating scaling reduces the hit-chance problem. Pairing Cleave with a Fanaticism demon and a Reaper's Toll mercenary for Decrepify gives it a solid physical damage foundation.

  • Blood Boil Summon Hybrid (B Tier) - In a complicated spot. The Summon Tainted synergy fix is a genuine buff, and raw damage wasn't reduced. But the radius nerf, from a full-screen 16 yards down to a 4-yard circle, changes how the build operates. You're now relying on your demons to group enemies tightly, using Sigil Death for crowd control, and popping Blood Boil on the cluster around your summons. More tactical, more reliant on positioning. Still has a high ceiling for dedicated summoner-focused characters, but the days of casually one-pointing your way into a screen-clearing explosion are gone.

  • Abyss / Miasma Chains - Chaos Warlock (B Tier) - The reworked Miasma Chains plays like a Trap Assassin now, no casting delay, up to five active chains, but 50% less cloud damage and no more exponential ticking. The Enhanced Entropy fix (now works with soft points instead of base points only) is a genuine buff to the Abyss radius and the entire Chaos tree. The playstyle is more engaging even if the numbers are lower. It won't compete with the top builds for raw speed, but it's a solid and enjoyable option for players who like a hands-on casting approach.

4. Amazon (A Tier)

The Amazon was already one of the strongest classes in the game before the Warlock even existed, and nothing in 3.2.0 changes that. Lightning Fury Javazon remains one of the fastest farming builds across all classes, capable of deleting entire cow packs in a single throw with proper gear. The improved Sunder Charm accessibility is a direct benefit — a lightning Sunder that was previously gated behind extensive Herald farming can now drop from any monster. The Amazon's biggest limitation has always been the immunity problem, and with Sunders more common, that weakness is smaller than ever. Physical Bowazon builds also benefit from the general meta shift: with fewer Warlocks dominating the ladder, party slots open up and Amazon DPS becomes more valued in group play.

Best Amazon Builds for Season 14:

  • Lightning Fury Javazon (S Tier) - One of the top three farming builds in the entire game across all classes. Lightning Fury with Infinity and Griffon's melts cow levels, Chaos Sanctuary, and terrorized zones. Budget versions with Titan's Revenge and a lightning Sunder still perform at a high level.

  • Multishot / Strafe Bowazon (B+ Tier) - Requires more investment than Javazon to reach a similar power level, but physical Bowazons with Windforce or Faith are strong endgame builds. Good for players who enjoy ranged gameplay and can now farm Sunder Charms more easily to handle physical immunes.

  • Poison Javazon (B Tier) - A niche option that became more viable with Plague Javelin buffs in earlier patches. Not meta-defining, but functional with the right setup and a poison Sunder.

5. Necromancer (B Tier)

The Necromancer sits comfortably in the middle of the pack for Season 14, reliable, functional, and capable of clearing all content, but not receiving any buffs or attention in 3.2.0. Multiple community members expressed disappointment that the patch focused solely on Warlock changes without buffing other classes. The Summoner Necromancer is still one of the safest and most accessible builds in the game, capable of tackling Hell difficulty with minimal gear. Poison Nova Necromancer is a strong farming build that benefits from the easier Sunder Charm access. The class does everything it has always done, it just hasn't gotten any new tools or improvements to move it higher in the rankings.

Best Necromancer Builds for Season 14:

  • Summoner Necromancer (A Tier) - The safest build in the game for solo play and hardcore. Skeletons, Revives, and Corpse Explosion carry you through Hell with budget gear. The Amplify Damage curse gives your army all the physical damage support it needs. Not the fastest farmer, but extremely consistent and forgiving.

  • Poison Nova Necromancer (A Tier) - A fast and satisfying farming build once geared. Death's Web and a poison Sunder push this into high-speed territory. The playstyle of casting Poison Nova and watching entire packs melt is fun and effective.

  • Bone Necromancer (B Tier) - Bone Spear and Bone Spirit deal magic damage, which handles most situations without a Sunder. Solid for specific content and PvP but falls behind the other two options for general PvE farming.

6. Assassin (B Tier)

The Assassin enters Season 14 in a familiar position — capable and fun to play with the right builds, but not at the top of any meta list. Lightning Trap Assassin (Trapsin) remains her strongest option and functions as a competent farmer across multiple zones. The Martial Arts tree offers entertaining gameplay through Kicksin and hybrid setups, though these builds require more investment to reach competitive levels. The Assassin did not receive any changes in 3.2.0, and the community consensus is that she could use some love in future patches. The improved Herald and Sunder Charm access does help — a lightning Sunder for Trapsin is now much easier to obtain, which smooths out her endgame farming considerably.

Best Assassin Builds for Season 14:

  • Lightning Trapsin (A Tier) - Lightning Sentry and Death Sentry form a strong farming duo. Good clear speed in specific zones like Chaos Sanctuary and Worldstone Keep. Benefits directly from easier Sunder Charm access for handling lightning immunes.

  • Kicksin / Dragon Talon (B Tier) - A fun melee option that uses crushing blow and elemental damage from gear to handle Ubers and tough content. Requires more gear investment than Trapsin but can clear all content in the game.

  • Blade Fury Assassin (C Tier) - Niche and largely outclassed by other options. Functions as a safe ranged physical build but lacks the speed and efficiency of the top Assassin setups.

7. Druid (C Tier)

The Druid continues to sit in the lower half of the class rankings, and 3.2.0 did nothing to change that. Community feedback was vocal — "Where's the balance changes for the Druid which desperately needs it?" was a common refrain from content creators reviewing the patch notes. Wind Druid remains the class's strongest option, dealing physical (Tornado) and cold (Hurricane) damage in a capable but not spectacular package. Summon Druid is playable but falls behind Summoner Necromancer in both speed and reliability. Fire Druid occupies a niche that requires heavy gear investment to become competitive. The Druid's core problem is that none of its builds reach the top tier of farming speed or endgame efficiency, and without any buffs or reworks in 3.2.0, that gap remains.

Best Druid Builds for Season 14:

  • Wind Druid - Tornado / Hurricane (B Tier) - The Druid's best option. Tornado's physical damage component means it rarely faces full immunity, and Hurricane provides supplementary cold damage plus crowd control. Solid for general farming, safe with Cyclone Armor absorbing elemental hits, but noticeably slower than S-tier builds from other classes.

  • Summon Druid (B Tier) - Grizzly bear and wolves can push through Hell content, and the build is forgiving for hardcore play. Struggles with clear speed compared to Summoner Necromancer and lacks the Corpse Explosion mechanic that gives skeletons their edge.

  • Fire Druid - Fissure / Volcano (C Tier) - Requires a fire Sunder and heavy gear investment to handle fire immunes and reach competitive damage. Fun and visually satisfying but too gear-dependent to rank higher.

8. Barbarian (C Tier)

The Barbarian remains at the bottom of the class hierarchy for Season 14, and the community is not quiet about it. "The Barbarian needs the most love out of every character," one prominent streamer said during his patch review. "If it wasn't for Find Item, the Barbarian has nothing. He's not the best melee. He's not the best ranged. He's not the best summoner." The 3.2.0 patch does not address any of the Barbarian's longstanding issues: Whirlwind's inconsistent collision and hit detection, the class's dependence on expensive gear to function in Hell, and the weapon mastery system that forces you to commit to one weapon type instead of letting "the class that's supposed to be a weapon expert" use everything. Find Item (Horking) is the one mechanic that gives the Barbarian a unique economic role, and it's the primary reason most players roll one at all. Without targeted buffs in a future patch, the Barbarian will continue to trail behind every other class in raw farming speed and build diversity.

Best Barbarian Builds for Season 14:

  • Horker - Berserk / Find Item (B Tier) - The Barbarian's primary value proposition. Berserk for kills, Find Item on corpses for double loot. Travincal runs with this setup can be profitable, and it remains the most economically efficient Barbarian build. The magic damage from Berserk bypasses physical immunities, and the extra drops from Find Item offset the slower kill speed.

  • Frenzy Barbarian (C+ Tier) - Dual-wielding with Grief or other high-damage weapons creates a fast and fun melee experience. Requires expensive gear to compete with other classes in farming speed. Good at Ubers with the right setup but outclassed for general content.

  • Whirlwind Barbarian (C Tier) - Iconic but deeply flawed. Whirlwind's hit detection is inconsistent, collision with terrain and monsters is clunky, and the skill often feels like it belongs to a different era of game design. Berserk frequently outperforms Whirlwind for single packs, which says everything about the state of the skill. This build desperately needs mechanical improvements to justify its position as the Barbarian's signature ability.

How the Sunder Charm, Herald & Terror Zone Changes Affect Every Class in D2R 3.2 Patch?

Beyond the Warlock-specific adjustments, the Sunder Charm and Herald system rework in 3.2.0 benefits every single class in the game. Latent Sunder Charms now drop from any monster,  terrorized or not, and are part of the regular magic find drop pool. Heralds spawn far more frequently, with the stated intent of one to two Heralds per terrorized zone. The increased drop chance for Sunder Charms now begins at Tier 2 Heralds instead of Tier 4. Player count no longer modifies shard or charm drop rates. Colossal Ancient Statues drop from non-terrorized act bosses, removing the frustrating time-gating that locked statue farming behind Terror Zone rotations.

What this means in practice is that every class will have an easier path to acquiring Sunder Charms in Season 14. Builds that previously relied on specific immunities to be broken, such as the Lightning Sorceress, Fire Druid, Poison Necromancer, Lightning Trapsin, will reach their full potential faster. Solo and casual players who farm alone won't face the steep disadvantage that Players 8 farming imposed in Season 13. This is arguably the most impactful set of changes for the broader player base, even if the Warlock nerfs grab all the headlines.

Patch 3.2.0 brings the Warlock in line with the rest of the Diablo 2 Resurrected roster. The class was, by any honest assessment, operating at a power level that didn't belong in this game, free Conviction auras from one-point investments, unkillable demons tanking Ubers, auto-hitting skills that did tens of thousands of percent more damage than anything else, and shields stacked on top of two-handed weapons. These changes don't destroy the Warlock. They force real build decisions: where to spend your points, what to sacrifice for demon investment, how to gear for attack rating, and which skills to actively use in combat.

The Paladin and Sorceress return to the top as the safest and most reliable ladder starters. The Warlock drops into A tier but retains multiple strong build paths: = Fire, Tainted, and Mirrored Blades in particular. The Amazon holds steady as one of the best farming classes in the game. The Necromancer and Assassin remain solid middle-of-the-road options. And the Druid and Barbarian continue to wait for the attention and buffs that the community has been requesting for years.

The real meta will crystallize once the PTR feedback is processed and the final patch goes live for Season 14. Until then, test everything you can on the PTR, and start planning your ladder strategy now, because the days of one-point wonders are officially behind us.
