This Season 11 Necromancer tier list is ranked using real performance metrics that reflect how each build actually plays after the Season 11 PTR changes. Instead of theory-only rankings, the list evaluates builds by how much the new masterworking system, Wrath changes, passive updates, and item reworks realistically impact their power level. The focus is on endgame viability, damage uptime, scalability, and practical gameplay efficiency, not just raw numbers on paper. • Blood Lance (S Tier)

Massive benefit from Wrath change (~30% more overpower frequency).Scales extremely well with density, where Wrath triggers constantly. Masterworking buffs (25% to everything) further increase both weapon and affix scaling. One of the biggest winners of Season 11.

• Bone Spirit (S Tier)

Rapid Ossification fix = game-changing. Bone Spirit can now reset its cooldown from its own 600-mana cast without needing triple temper rolls. Gains huge QoL and resource uptime because you can use Maco requires resources again. Big damage spike from masterwork scaling + potentially higher essence cap. Result: Much higher uptime, smoother rotation, and significantly stronger overall.

• Blood Surge (S Tier)

Strong single-target improvement thanks to Wrath change (~30% more overpower procs). Blood Surge already overpowered consistently in AoE; now its weakness (single-target) is fixed. Synergizes well with sanctified embalmer (Season 11 theme). Result: Massive consistency buff brings it into top-tier territory.

• Minions (Mages) Mendeln Build (A Tier)

Ring of Mendeln buffed by 20%, and Shadow Mage contribution increases overall proc frequency. Still dependent on Mendeln procs, but performs consistently. Not quite as explosive as the S-tier overpower builds, but very strong.

• Bone Spear (A Tier)

One of the best benefactors of the 25-quality masterworking. Bone Spear’s affix scaling skyrockets with the new system. Still suffers from less synergy with overpower-specific buffs. Result: Still very strong, just overshadowed by overpower builds this season.

• Corpse Explosion – Shadow (A Tier)

Now benefits fully from Hellbent Commander because it gets the summoning tag. Massive buff from +40% multiplicative damage from Hellbent Commander ranks on amulet. Great in density, excellent clear.

• Blood Wave (B Tier)

Only gets ~5% benefit from Wrath changes. Already overpowered every cast; Wrath doesn’t help much. Great 2-play build, but low scaling compared to Blood Lance/Surge.

• Minions (Golemancer) (B Tier)

Hellbent Commander now works with 3-golem sacrifice setups. This is a big buff (~50%+ raw damage), but still less damage compared to Blood Lance/Bone Spirit builds. Major QoL with cooldown-based activations.

• Shadowblight (B Tier)

Shadowblight didn’t get massive specific buffs. Gains strength from global masterworking buffs but not as much from Wrath or Ossification fixes. Still playable and fun, but not meta-defining.

• Blight (C Tier)

Gains from masterworking but has low single-target scaling. No synergy with Wrath changes. Generally outperformed by stronger shadow builds (Corpse Explosion, Mendeln).

• Sever (C Tier)

Sever did not receive meaningful scaling buffs from Season 11. Outclassed by Blood Surge/Lance/Bone builds in every category. Still usable for leveling but not a serious endgame pick.

• Affliction (C Tier)

No direct synergy with overpower buffs or masterworking multipliers. Limited late-game scaling and slow kill times.

Necromancer Changes in Diablo 4 Season 11 

The new affix potential roughly matches what old 12/12 gear with a Greater Affix + 1 MW Crit used to be. With Sanctified Quality, you’re effectively equal to 12/12 GA + 2 MW Crits from Season 10. 

Affix power sits between old S10 and PTR levels. 

Non-capstone MW affixes are ~16% weaker than Season 10, but still ~25% stronger than the PTR. The best possible MW capstone outcome is ~25% weaker than Season 10’s peak 12/12 triple-crit, but still much stronger than anything we tested in PTR.

Weapons got stronger.
Masterworking and quality upgrades give weapons:

4.2% more base power, plus ~10–20% more value from affixes and defense increases compared to PTR. With Sanctified +25% quality, weapons effectively gain a ~20% multiplier on top. 

Sanctification priority matters.

• Other sanc affixes

• GA on random stat

• Replacing sanc affix (worst option)

Minor tweaks aren’t build-changing.

Shields can now roll offensive aspects—cool, but still not worth using. Iron Golem attacks faster, but still needs testing; great cooldown uptime, but still not meta. Sanguivor buff feels good, but Army of the Dead still lacks scaling, so the build remains unviable.
