Season 11 brings the biggest shake-up to crafting that Diablo 4 has seen. What we knew from Season 10 is gone: no more double tempering, no more 12-step masterworking, and no more massive affix level spikes. Instead, Blizzard has rebuilt the system around clarity, control, and a bit of calculated risk. Today, we'll share the best ways to farm legendaries, uniques and mythics in Diablo 4 Season 11.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Crafting Guide
Crafting in Diablo 4 isn’t just a side system — it’s one of the core pillars of endgame progression. Even if you’re showered with drops, raw loot alone will never give you a perfect build. Crafting is the bridge between “good gear” and “finished gear.” Diablo 4 drops tons of legendaries, but most of them are almost perfect — not perfect. Crafting lets you fix the one thing that’s missing. If you’re jumping into the new season and want to understand exactly how crafting works — and how to farm the materials you need — this D4 Season 11 crafting guide breaks down everything in simple terms.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Legendary Items
A basic Legendary in Season 11 always comes with four natural affixes. This is already stronger than Season 10, where Legendaries only had three. Nothing complicated here — it’s a straight buff to item bases.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Tempering
Tempering is back, but completely streamlined. You can add only one tempered affix (Season 10 allowed two). However, the random luck factor is gone. You choose the category → choose the exact stat you want → apply it. The only thing that rolls is the value within a fixed range. This makes crafting far more consistent:
No more bricking an item because you rolled cold resist instead of fire
No more wasted temper manuals
No more losing two tempers to bad RNG
Even though you now get one temper instead of two, the reliability is a massive improvement. Total affixes after tempering:
4 base + 1 temper = 5 affixes (same as Season 10).
Diablo 4 Season 11 Masterworking
The old 12-tier system is gone. Instead, Diablo 4 items now gain Quality, up to 20. Quality increases ONLY the base values of the item:
Weapons → Damage
Armor → Armor value
Jewelry → All Resistances
This means:
No more huge +25–50% boosts to random affixes
No more pushing skill bonuses to extreme levels
No more big power spikes at ranks 4/8/12
It’s a simpler, more predictable system.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Greater Affixes
Once you reach 20 Quality, upgrading again gives the item a Greater Affix. A Greater Affix enhances one of your existing affixes — but only modestly.
Example:
If your helmet has +3 to Bash, the Greater Affix can raise it to +4. Not +6 like in Season 10. You can reroll the Greater Affix repeatedly, as long as you have materials. The ceiling is lower now, but the path is far more consistent.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Sanctifying
After finishing your item, you can take it to the Sanctified Forge and Sanctify it. Sanctifying can:
Add a new affix
Replace an existing affix
Add an Aspect
Make the item indestructible
Modify it in several powerful ways
But here is the catch: Sanctifying is irreversible.
If you get a bad result, the item is ruined — forever. Some sanctifications are incredible (+All Stats, extra Offensive rolls, Aspect upgrades). Others can completely replace a key affix and destroy the item. Use it only when you are confident the base item is finished and worth the risk.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Unique & Mythic Items
For the first time:
Unique items can gain Quality
Mythic items can gain Quality
Both can receive Greater Affixes
Both can be Sanctified
This lets iconic items scale much higher than before. The only limitation is you cannot temper Uniques or Mythics. Tempering remains exclusive to Legendaries.
How to Farm Crafting Materials in Season 11
With the new system, farming becomes much more predictable. Here’s where to get everything you need.
1. Tempering Materials
Tempering materials drop from:
Helltides
Endgame bosses (Duriel, Beast in the Ice, Andariel, etc.)
High-tier Nightmare dungeons
Best method:
Run Helltides at maximum density → events → elites → chests. Helltides shower you with temper manuals and crafting parts.
2. Quality Upgrading Materials
These materials come from:
Salvaging Sacred & Ancestral items
Whispers cache rewards
Hellborne & Blood Maiden bosses in Helltide
High-tier Nightmare dungeons
Best method:
Farm Tree of Whispers. The overflow of item drops → salvage → guaranteed Quality mats. Nightmare Dungeons also drop huge amounts of salvageable gear.
3. Greater Affix Rerolling Materials
These are more expensive and come from:
Tormented Bosses
Endgame Activity Chests (Helltide Tortured Gifts)
High Nightmare Dungeon bosses
Echo of Duriel / Andariel / Zir
Best method:
Run boss rotations with groups. You’ll get materials, Uniques, and currency all at once.
4. Sanctifying Materials
These are the rarest new materials. Sources:
World Tier 4 Helltide mini-bosses
Oberon & Tormented Bosses
High-tier NM dungeon chests
Seasonal endgame events
Best method:
Target Tormented Bosses. They drop Sanctifying mats more reliably than anything else in the game.
