Borderlands 4 Weapon Tier List - Top 20+ Best Weapons Ranked in BL4

9/25/2025 11:41:20 AM

Are you looking for the most powerful and secretly broken weapons in Borderlands 4? In this Borderlands 4 weapon tier list, we rank the top 20 best weapons for endgame. No matter if you need overpowered underbarrels, undiscovered legendaries, one-shot snipers, badass revolvers, we've got you the best weapons in BL4.

Borderlands 4 Best Weapons - BL4 Weapon Tier List

Borderlands 4 isn’t just about blasting enemies — it’s about mastering an insanely deep arsenal system. With over a billion guns, 8 different manufacturers, and layers like ALT-firing modes, attachments, underbarrels, and elemental types, a “good weapon” isn’t just strong — it’s your survival and progression tool.  Having a “good weapon” in each slot ensures you don’t get hard-countered by enemy variety. Without further ado, let's check this BL4 weapon tier list and rankings.

S Tier

Wombo Combo

Fires elemental bullets + kinetic rockets at the same time. Perfect synergy: the rockets shred shields (kinetic) while the elemental bullets (e.g., Cryo) take out armor/health. Extremely versatile and effective against mixed enemy types. Accurate, smooth handling, and satisfying to use.

Farm Location:

Saw’s Clench Drill Site (Ruined Sumplands, up north).

Tip:

The Vlad underbarrel enhancements currently don’t buff the rockets (possible bug/oversight), so build around its base synergy instead of relying on those buffs.

Linebacker

Fires bounce projectiles that act like a carpet bomb/lava wave. Each bounce increases damage and radius, making it insane for splash builds. Devastating in crowd control and boss fights with splash buffs.

Farm Location:

Skyspanner Kratch (boss).

Tips:

Stack splash buffs like Head Ringer (+25% dmg, +100% radius) and Air Strike set bonus. Works best in tight environments where bounces stack.

Borstel Ballista

Fires a spiraling projectile (“propagation”) that can land multiple crits. Makes headshots ridiculously easy, even for casual players. Being a Jakobs sniper, crits ricochet to other enemies, snowballing damage. Massive damage scaling — a level 26 version still one-shots enemies after leveling up.

Farm Location:

Timekeeper boss.

Tips:

Build around crit chance and crit damage, since the swirl projectile makes landing crits almost guaranteed.

Kaoson SMG

Fires two bullets at once → essentially double DPS compared to similar SMGs (e.g., Bird’s Bees). Perfect for splash/explosive builds — especially strong on Rafa. High DPS and consistent scaling into late game.

Farm Location:

Guardian Arch / Origo Vault (Low Keys area).

Tips:

Lean into explosive/splash synergies for insane scaling — it’s a top pick for mob clearing and boss DPS alike.

Hot Slugger

Fires a single, massive bullet that guarantees full damage output per shot. Easy to land full hits → incredibly consistent. One of the hardest-hitting shotguns in the game, perfect for close-range boss fights or chunky elites.

Farm Location:

Drops from Callous.

Tips:

Don’t confuse it with the Hellwalker, which looks similar but is weaker. The Hot Slugger is the true god-tier shotgun.

A Tier

Phantom Flame (Pango Bango)

Quite possibly the best pistol in the game — a revolver that can unload its entire magazine instantly with insane burst DPS. Lock-on aiming + cowboy-style fanning ability = deadly precision and speed. Loses some efficiency due to reload downtime, but that can be fixed with reload-speed buffs.

How to Get:

Farm Pango Bango.

Tips:

Prioritize reload speed upgrades in your build. Fire rate is already maxed, so reload speed = more damage uptime. Shreds bosses when spammed with fast reload cycles.

Rowan's Charge

A Jakobs AR gone Super Saiyan — critical hits refund ammo (with a short cooldown). Has a crank fire mode that massively boosts fire rate without losing accuracy. Comes with Torgue sticky explosions for extra boom damage. Wide potential for buildcrafting around crits + ammo sustain, making it extremely fun and versatile.

How to Get:

Dedicated drop from Directive-O.

Tips:

Works best in crit-focused builds (snipers, crit damage bonuses). Magazine size upgrades let you stretch the ammo refund mechanic closer to “infinite fire.”

Regulated G.M.R

A more straightforward but brutally effective Jakobs rifle. While aiming down sights, fire rate slows but damage doubles — perfect for crit-sniping. Hella strong in raw damage output, though less flashy than Rowan’s Charge.

How to Get:

Dedicated drop from Driller Hole boss fight near Queen’s Cradle.

Tips:

Pair with critical hit multipliers to maximize that doubled ADS damage. Excellent choice for precision-focused builds that value consistency over gimmicks.

Vial Launcher

Not just a damage tool — it gives a +30% damage taken debuff to enemies hit, making it one of the most valuable teamwide boss-melting tools. Stacks across multiple players for absurd scaling (30%, 60%, 90%+). Only downside is it’s limited to certain pistols and only shows up as corrosive.

How to Get:

Found as an underbarrel attachment on Jakobs pistols.

Tips:

Always equip this in co-op or boss fights. Combine with other high-DPS weapons for insane burst phases.

Taser (find in Flewdy SMGs)

Best shield-melting tool in the game. Multiple tasers stack damage fast (1,500 DPS per taser × 3 or 4 = 4,500–6,000+ DPS). Inflicts shock status, further shredding shields.

How to Get:

Look for Flewdy SMGs that roll with 3–4 tasers as the underbarrel.

Tips:

Always check the number of tasers — the more, the deadlier. Consider carrying two taser-loaded SMGs just for bosses with fat shield bars.

Darkbeast

A solid corrosive SMG with piercing bullets that also have a small chance to explode. Great for mobbing because shots pass through multiple enemies. Damage isn’t god-tier, but as a reliable corrosive option, it earns its spot.

How to Get:

Dedicated drop from Timid Kyle’s Neglected Butthole in the Auger Mine.

Tips:

Use for crowd control vs armored enemies. While the explosion chance is low (5%), the piercing mechanic makes it a great run-and-gun allrounder.

Tinged Inkling

A stylish homage to Splatoon — coats the battlefield in elemental paint pools (shock, corrosive, or radiation). Pools last a good while and shred groups standing inside. Not the rawest DPS gun, but its AoE control makes it uniquely powerful.

How to Get:

Has a chance to drop from the Division Bunker in Terminus Range.

Tips:

Great in mobbing zones or defensive choke points where enemies cluster. Build around elemental bonuses to make the paint zones melt faster.

B Tier

Birt's Bees

It’s an SMG that fires angry bees that chase enemies down across the map. Great damage for an elemental SMG and excellent tracking — enemies can’t run from it. Super fun weapon that feels like “peak Borderlands wackiness.”Falls short because it’s not always efficient versus bosses, and while the bees sting hard, there are more consistent high-DPS SMGs in the game.

How to Get:

Dedicated drop from Sludgemaw at the Watershed Gate.

Tips:

Keep it in your backpack as a “fun-but-surprisingly-deadly” SMG for mobbing or messing around.

Bugbear

This launcher-like gun increases both damage and splash radius as you empty the magazine. Perfect for splash-damage builds (especially on Rafa) — can scale really well with explosive modifiers. It needs a big magazine to maximize damage, and without build synergy, it feels clunky.

How to Get:

World drop

Tips:

Invest in magazine size upgrades. More bullets per mag = more buffed shots. Synergizes best with splash/elemental builds, not great for precision.

Sweet Embrace

One of two guns from the Moxxi tip interaction — you either get the “Cold Shoulder” (trash) or the “Sweet Embrace” (actually solid). Sweet Embrace fires four bullets in a square spread, making it brutal up close in run-and-gun elemental builds. Loses points for poor long-range performance and inconsistent drop (since you can also get the dud gun).

How to Get:

Go to Moxxi’s Bar → punch her → tip her repeatedly until she rewards you. If she’s satisfied, you get Sweet Embrace. Otherwise, you may get Cold Shoulder.

Tips:

Best used in close-quarters combat for maximum shotgun spread damage. Excellent for elemental shotgun builds, but don’t expect it to carry boss fights.

Swarm Grenade

Flexible and reliable: homes in, explodes, then spawns multiple baby grenades that continue homing. Great for crowd control and mobbing, easy to use. Loses points because it’s not build-defining — strong utility but not “broken.”

How to Get:

Dedicated drop from Sidney Pointy Legs at the Hungering Plane Prospects Drill Site.

Tips:

Throw into enemy packs for consistent AoE clears. Pairs well with grenade regen builds for nonstop explosions.

Artillery Fuse

One of the best grenade hybrids: combines jumping AoE shockwaves with homing missiles for a two-in-one effect. Even “talks” to you, adding Borderlands personality flair. Stronger than most grenades, but still not build-breaking — great utility, not top-tier DPS.

How to Get:

Found at the Driller Hole in Queen’s Cradle.

Tips:

Use it as your “default grenade mod” for versatility — it works in most situations. Synergizes with grenade regen or explosive-focused builds for big payoff.
