How to Fast Unlock Torment 1/2/3/4 in Diablo 4 Season 8?

5/6/2025 11:21:42 AM

Diablo 4 Season 8 introduces several changes to progression, experience gain, and Torment tier access. If you want to move through Torment 1 to Torment 4 quickly for better loot, more experience, and access to top-tier content like The Pit, this guide explains how to do it efficiently.

Diablo 4 Season 8 Torment 1-4 Level Unlock

In Diablo 4 Season 8, Torment levels represent the endgame difficulty system. Starting from Torment 1 and scaling up to Torment 4, each level increases enemy health, damage, and - most importantly - rewards. Higher Torments give access to ancestral items, layer bosses, mythic uniques, and better experience sources like The Pit.

Progressing through Torment levels is tied to your Pit Tier completions and overall character strength. Season 8 has adjusted Torment scaling and tied it more closely to your Paragon level, boss power progression, and glyph development.

Let’s break down how to fast-track each Torment level.

How to Unlock Torment 1 in Diablo 4 Season 8?

Torment 1 is the entry point into Diablo 4’s full endgame loop in Season 8. Once unlocked, you gain access to ancestral item drops, which are the foundation of any strong late-game build. These items have higher item power and better stat rolls than anything available in lower difficulties. Torment 1 also enables the use of boss summoning materials, which are required to fight layer bosses that drop mythic uniques, spectral ash, and seasonal rewards. Vendors and gambling tables (like the Purveyor of Curiosities) also scale their item offerings to match Torment difficulty, meaning you can finally start pulling high-value gear through Obol gambling. On top of that, this difficulty is where The Pit starts to shine, offering experience, glyph upgrades, and loot that scale with your performance. Without Torment 1, your gear progression, Paragon advancement, and access to the best content in the game remain limited.

Requirement:

  • Complete Pit Tier 10

Once your character reaches level 60, head to The Pit in Ked Bardu. Completing Tier 10 of the Pit will open up Torment 1.

Step 1: Level to 60 Quickly

To access Torment 1, you first need to reach Level 60. Here’s a fast way to do it:

  • Start in Normal difficulty.

  • Run a few Apparition Incursions early to grab a couple of boss powers.

  • Then farm areas like Held Heights or Undercity until you're around level 50.

  • After that, go back to Normal and complete Strongholds in Nahu to hit 60.

This method gives you a good amount of loot and experience and avoids the need to rely on group activities.

Step 2: Enter The Pit and Reach Tier 10

Once you hit level 60, head to The Pit in Ked Bardu.

To unlock Torment 1, you need to complete Pit Tier 10. This should be manageable with any decent build as soon as you reach 60. Finishing Pit 10 grants access to Torment 1 difficulty.

Why this matters:

  • Torment 1 enables ancestral item drops.

  • You gain access to higher-tier vendor rolls and gear upgrading.

  • You can start farming boss materials and layer bosses efficiently.

Step 3: Farm and Gear Up in Torment 1

After entering Torment 1:

  • Start farming uniques and ancestral legendaries.

  • Use Murmuring Obols to gamble for high-item-power weapons and gear at the Purveyor of Curiosities.

  • Run Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons, and The Pit to build up your gear and materials.

You can also begin crafting and tempering gear with Obducite and other resources you gather in these activities.

How to Unlock Torment 2 in Diablo 4 Season 8?

Torment 2 introduces a noticeable bump in both difficulty and reward, making it a solid step forward in your endgame progression. Enemies hit harder and take longer to kill, but the payoff comes in the form of better loot quality, including a higher chance for ancestral rares, legendaries, and even early mythic unique drops from bosses. Layer boss materials drop more frequently, and activities like Infernal Hordes and Nightmare Dungeons begin to feel more rewarding, especially when paired with Paragon upgrades and glyph scaling. Additionally, vendor inventories and gambler tables improve again, offering better chances to roll high-power gear. Torment 2 also sets the stage for more efficient XP farming—especially in The Pit—while allowing you to start building a character that can comfortably handle Tier 30+ Pit runs, which is necessary for pushing into Torment 3.

Requirement:

  • Complete Pit Tier 20

After farming gear and building up your strength in Torment 1, your next goal is to complete Pit Tier 20 to open the door to Torment 2.

How to Prepare & Unlock Torment 2:

  • Use Obols to gamble for better gear.

  • Farm Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons, and bosses for upgrades.

  • Improve your glyph levels through Pit runs to increase your damage and survivability.

How to Unlock Torment 3 in Diablo 4 Season 8?

Torment 3 is where endgame farming starts to ramp up significantly. In this tier, you'll see increased drop rates for mythic uniques, higher-quality ancestral gear, and better boss loot tables, especially from greater layer bosses like Duriel and Andariel. Tribute-based activities such as the Undercity runs become more efficient, often yielding multiple boss summoning materials per run. Infernal Hordes, Whispers, and Nightmare Dungeons also scale up in reward output, making them more worthwhile for gold, Obducite, and gear. Additionally, Pit runs at this level provide solid amounts of glyph XP and experience, allowing you to level your glyphs faster and push toward Paragon 200+ more easily. Torment 3 strikes a strong balance between challenge and reward, making it a prime farming tier for most builds before entering the high-risk, high-reward environment of Torment 4.

Requirement:

  • Complete Pit Tier 30

With a few gear upgrades and glyphs leveled, you’ll be ready to tackle Pit Tier 30. Once completed, Torment 3 becomes available.

How to Prepare & Unlock Torment 3:

  • Reach around Paragon 180–200.

  • Focus on building out your Paragon boards and unlocking legendary nodes.

  • Start stacking mythic drop chances by farming layer bosses and using Tribute of Titans events.

How to Unlock Torment 4 in Diablo 4 Season 8?

Torment 4 is the top-end difficulty and the gateway to Supreme Bilial, the boss with the best mythic unique drop chance. It also offers the highest XP rates and loot potential across all activities.

Requirement:

  • Complete Pit Tier 55

Torment 4 is the highest standard difficulty and requires completing Pit Tier 55. This is a major milestone, as it opens up the most rewarding content in the game.

How to Prepare & Unlock Torment 4:

  • Push Pit Tiers gradually until you can complete Tier 55 in under 6 minutes.

  • Use elixirs and incense to boost experience gain.

  • Run Tribute of Titans events to stockpile boss materials and gear.

  • Optimize your build for speed—Pit farming is all about time efficiency.

Do You Even Need Torment 4?

Not everyone needs to rush to Torment 4. You don’t need to reach Torment 4 unless you’re aiming for the highest efficiencies. Supreme Bile, the Exalted Layer Boss, is only available in Torment 4 and has the highest chance to drop mythic items. You also gain the best glyph XP, boss mats, and seasonal rewards here. However, if your build isn't ready, Torment 3 remains a strong farming tier with decent returns. For those focused on pushing power, though, Torment 4 is the clear goal.

If you’re not pushing for leaderboard content or speedruns, Torment 3 is comfortable for farming while still offering great rewards.
