Season of Discovery Phase 2 Best DPS, Tank & Healer - SoD Phase 2 Tier List & Ranking

Phase 1 saw Shaman tanks dominate the scene thanks to their unmatched AoE threat generation. Warriors and Druids also performed well in the tank role. For healers, Priest and Mage specs shone through with their toolkits well suited for the simple Blackfathom Deeps encounters.

However, in Phase 2 things will begin to change. New 40-talent tiers are now accessible, allowing classes held back in Phase 1 to unlock powerful upgrades. Chain Heal for Resto Shaman looks poised to vault them up the healer rankings. Paladins will benefit greatly from the Pro talents that were previously blocked.

On the tank side, Death Knight and Warlock specs are expected to close the power gap with further tuning and talent optimizations now available to them. The AoE dominance of Shaman may also be reduced with certain encounter mechanics countering their strengths.

S Tier

• Assassination Rogue: Why this is the best DPS in Season of Disocvery Phase 2 is because its strong scaling from weapons and no resistances means very high consistent damage.

• Beast Mastery Hunter: Benefits greatly from attack power scaling which is strong early on. Pet attacks also aid in target switching/cleave.

• Arms Warrior: Warriors gain a lot from gear available, especially Deathbringer which none can match. Burst damage dominates raids.

A Tier

• Feral Druid: Once gear allows you to reliably shift forms, you bring strong sustained damage and utility from forms/bleeds.

• Retribution Paladin: As the strongest hybrid DPS spec, they gain well from strength plate gear available. Provides utility and buffs too.

• Demonology Warlock: Despite not having fully optimized talents yet, lack of resistances and scaling from early gear/spells keeps them competitive.

B Tier

• Fire Mage: Good scaling damage but limited by mana constraints compared to others not gated by resources.

• Enhancement Shaman: High damage potential but held back slightly by mana reliance and kits/gear not fully optimized.

• Arcane Mage: Consistent damage over time but mana limits their potential compared to melee/hunters.

S Tier

• Shaman: Have completely overtaken tanks in AoE threat generation with Molten Blast, Fire Nova and high Rockbiter threat. Extremely simple to play effectively, so that makes it the best WoW Classic SoD Phase 2 tank.

• Warrior: Still bring high single target threat from skills and gear. Block/shielding makes them very tanky. Proven spec.

A Tier

• Druid: Excellent sustained single target threat from Lacerate. Flexible with survivability/threat talents. Weak AoE still better than below.

B Tier

• Paladin: Great at AoE but ackluster single target until higher levels. Too punishing to lose aggro. Situationally strong.

• Warlock: Currently underpowered due to scaling issues and lack of optimal talents/builds. High avoidance allows for tankiness but threat generation is middling. Significant tuning potential that could push them higher.

• Rogue: Total lack of AoE threat. Too fragile without damage reduction. Reliance on avoidance promotes one-shot deaths. Poor design fit for role. Demands multiple talent overhauls to compete.

S Tier

• Druid: Excellent raid healing through Healing Touch which can sustain raids during high damage encounters. Rejuvenation also provides strong healing over time. Balance Affinity rune allows for minor DPS contribution through Wrath. Strongest and best SoD Phase 2 healer.

• Priest: Best Season of Discovery Phase 2 tank healing and raid healing through Flash Heal and Greater Heal. Adds 3 valuable debuffs to raids through Shadowfiend rune, enabling more uptime for damaging classes. Very flexible and can adjust runes to each encounter.

• Shaman: New Tidal Force rune provides strong burst group healing and mana restoration every minute. New Ancestral Gift rune shares 10% of mana restoration with whole raid. Significant raid support capabilities.

A Tier

• Mage: Strong overall thoughput from Living Flame rune allowing to deal damage while healing. Combines healing and damage output, offsetting their lower healing compared to S-Tier. Very mana efficient healing style for simple encounters.

• Paladin: Divine Sacrifice provides useful defensive cooldown but encounters don't require its use. Healing not as strong as S-Tier yet but will scale better in later phases.
