WoW Dragonflight Best 2v2 Comps for Each Class Spec | Dragonflight Arena 2v2 Comps Tier List

1/5/2023 6:24:11 PM

Here we've sorted out the Dragonflight Arean Comps Tier List for you, where we will not only be looking at the best and easiest  2v2 comps to play in Season 1, but also go over some basics for each of these 2V2 comps, as well as tell you what you should be playing based on your spec.

WoW Dragonflight Best Arena 2v2 Comps Tier List & Ranking

Our goal with this tier list is to do two things, first is that we're going to make sure every spec has a good composition included so you know which one to play, second we are ranking the compositions into S to D tiers so by the end of the list you should know what compositions are strong to play for your class or spec and what partners you should aim to play with as well as how difficult you can expect it to be.

Here we rank the best 2v2 comps for WoW Dragonflight, every spec will be represented:

1 - Havoc Domon Hunter + Holy Paladin (S Tier)

Havoc DH now has the best instant CC in the game (a 10 sec (AOE) fear on a 54-sec CD), while Holy Paladin can go and HoJ into Repentance the enemy healer every 30-40 seconds. You can CC the enemy healer for 6+8+10=24 seconds every 40 seconds while doing unhealable PvE damage + mortal strike effect + endless mobility. Holy Paladin now can access a Kick and has Blessing of Sacrifice on 1 min CD. Havoc DH can always stay aggressive because of 2x Blessing of Protection on disarms and stuns.

2 - Feral Druid + Holy Priest (S Tier)

Feral Druid can switch between unhealable cleave damage and Convoke depending on the matchup. Holy Priest now brings double PI, Mindgames, Lifeswap, fast MD, double Dispel, and Rez legendary. Feral is tankier than ever in bear if you don't pick Cyclone (which you don't need with a Priest in Dragonflight because Priests can now break slows via Fade to land fears every 30 seconds guaranteed).

3 - Fury Warrior + Resto Druid (S Tier)

Fury Warrior same as in Shadowlands but has slightly less uptime on 40% MS, it is still the good spot due to its high sustained damage strong bursts, and just overall great survivability, it's this that makes pharaoh prefers more aggressive healers to partner up with. The warrior now has an AoE fear dispel on a 1 min CD to counter the new DH fear and all Priests. Warrior has Def stance, Impending Victory, Storm Bolt, 2x charge, and short Leap, what's more, improved mobility for Warriors is especially useful in 2v2.

4 - Arms Warrior + Resto Druid (S Tier)

For Resto Druid nothing has changed: you still sit bear and outheal without casting. Resto Druids in twos can slot into two types of compositions, those where they can just sit back roll hots, and focus on healing or those where they can easily access their crowed control kit with a partner who can help set up cyclones. The strongest partner is Arms Warrior. Arms now have Bleeds, 2x Mortal Strike when using Bladestorm or Avatar (Unhinged), and never resource starved because of procs for days.

5 - Fire Mage + Subtlety Rogue (A Tier)

Subtlety Rogue pairs with Fire Mage completely remain to be the strongest double DPS composition. 2v2 Sub Rogue has 2 vanishes on 80 sec CD with 20-sec CD on everything (blind/kidney/kick etc), that also heals the Rogue for 30% of max health and shields the Rogue for 30% for 6 seconds. Sub Rogue is tankier than in Shadowlands, while Mage is slightly less tanky. This comp can do burst damage high as always, especially good in Dragonflight Season 1 because you just run over every Evoker and DH (unless they play the Holy Paladin version). Because of the new PvP trinket bonus - reduced CC duration, the enemy gets out of the stun earlier and can use a defensive, this comp is not in S Tier.

6 - Assassination Rogue + Resto Druid (A Tier)

Assa rogue now has some of the most ridiculous damage imaginable thanks to damage poison, MS poison, slow and cast speed reduction poison with 2 charges of Sharpen Blade (Shiv) on a 25sec CD in Dragonflight. Especially the four-piece Shiv + Bleeds (unhealable in dampening) which makes vendetta kidney shots delete your health bar about 2 times over if you don't have strong defensive cooldowns to trade. Assassination Rogue due to its high consistent pressure doesn't need much support from their partners, so it opens up a lot of comps, the best healer is going to be the Resto Druid which is broken in 2v2 now.

7 - Demo/Affli Warlock + Resto Druid (A Tier)

The Warlock is now tanker compared to SL because of the flat 40% HP buff, especially Locks benefit from having access to different builds for different matchups. Curse of Tongues amplified via Amplify Curse means you win against every other caster. Affliction Warlock has had quite the glow up from Shadowland and has somehow catapulted it into a dominant force inside of 2v2. You've got consistent high damage which then becomes overwhelming once cooldowns are popped, especially inside of 2v2 where healing is far less effective due to dampening. Demo Warlock is a spec that benefits greatly from both double legendaries and tier sets allowing them to now benefit from both Balespider's Burning Core while still keeping the Shard of Annihilation necro lord legendary, this enables demonology warlock to setup ridiculous levels of damage in 2v2 is the perfect playground to execute this. For partners, Resto Druid reigns supreme.

8 - Unholy Death Knight + Resto Druid (A Tier)

Unholy DK is much tankier due to flat 40% HP buff, and now has increased consistent rot damage. If your turtle and wait for Gargoyle + Abo Limb to come back off CD, then you just win in dampening. Unholy DK thrives in longer more drawn-out games, so the best healer options are those that bring unrivaled healing output, the strongest of which currently is a restoration druid.

9 - Preservation Evoker + Survival Hunter (A Tier)

Preservation Evoker is now better than Resto Druid with a Hunter because of a number of reasons. Your "Cyclone" (Sleep Walk) can be cast while moving at 70% increased movement speed while being immune to slows and kicks (Obsidian Mettle). Oppressing Roar lets you stun-trap the enemy healer for a total of 15.6 seconds. Your Fire Breath is like Kleptomania, countering all the Resto Druids on the ladder and lining up with Hunter trap CD. Survival Hunters gained Scatter Shot, a 40% wall, and Survival now has 2 actual burst cooldowns, and also gained a ranged slow, which is a massive upgrade for them in 2v2.

10 - Beast Mastery Hunter  + Holy Priest (A Tier)

In Dragonflight, Holy Priests can use stun and fear every 30 seconds, which they previously couldn't do. This is especially helpful in 2v2 with a hunter because of Chastise stun into trap. Every 30 seconds you can Chastise stun the healer into trapping into fear. This means the hunter has to spend fewer globals worrying about how to land their trap and can fully focus on doing damage instead. BM hunter now has access to steel trap which will make some matchups easier, being able to use Scatter Shot defensively is also quite strong.  Hunters are still the squishiest class in the game is the only reason this comp isn't S tier.

11 - Mistweaver Monk + Havoc Demon Hunter (A Tier)

Mistweaver Monk is not a bad healer, but it lacks in damage or crowed control, they make up for with throughput and that's their main strength. So when you look for a partner who is a very self-sufficient spec and doesn't necessarily need all that much help setting up skills, the best option is without a doubt Havoc Demon Hunter. This comp is not as good as the Holy Paladin version because Demon Hunter fear and Mistweaver Monk disorient share the same DR and MW Monk doesn't do any damage, but still A tier because of high mobility which lets you avoid damage in dampening.

12 - Resto Shaman & Unholy Death Knight (B Tier)

Resto Shaman is the most viable of the three shaman specs, the perfect partners for it are aggressive melee damage dealers, where you can look to contribute with Purges and interrupts to make quick work of enemy healers, most notably in Dragonflight with the Unholy Death Knight. The weakness of this comp (a melee running down the shaman) is offset by having Thunderstorm and 2 grips baseline. Thunderstorm the rogue then grip the step into a 70% slow into Ghost Wolf around the pillar.

13 - Devastation Evoker +  Holy Paladin (B Tier)

As an Evoker you lack a stun or a poly and you don't have a good answer to high burst. Holy Paladin solves all of that

The Evoker is completely immune to slows if you rotate Hand of Freedom and Hover Evoker is mobile enough to easily land a Fear (Sleep Walk) on the enemy healer. If you follow this up with an HoJ on the Dps into a Repentance on the enemy healer, then you can free cast every 30 seconds, which perfectly lines up with the Evoker's burst CDs. Fire Breath conveniently also purges up to 4 hots from your target. While the lack of peels for your Holy Paladin makes this comp sit in B Tier.

14 - Windwalker Monk + Holy Priest (B Tier)

This 2v2 comp is similar to Holy Priest + Sub Rogue but with a go every 50 seconds instead of 30. Windwalker monk deals with very high burst damage with Strike of the Windlord + Mindgames + Storm, Earth, and Fire lining up with every Leg Sweep. The holy priest can easily cover the off-target. But if the enemy rotates well, then you just lose once the priest is oom, that's why we put it in B Tier.

15 - Destro Warlock & Resto Shaman (B Tier)

The new PvP talent for casters which makes you immune to CC and Kicks when you fake the enemy is what makes Destro viable. The best Destro locks have the potential to be A+ tier because of this. The reason why Resto Shaman is now the best healer for Destro is Lightning Lasso. Destro Locks have no issue landing a Fear or Seduction on the enemy healer and when they do, then the Shaman can just instantly Lasso the DPS for 5 seconds while the Warlock casts a bunch of Chaos Bolts Should the Warlock run out of all their mobility, then the Shaman can simply Thunderstorm the enemy melee away, slowing them by 60% for 5 sec. The warlock can play Succubus because the Shaman brings Wind Shear. The main weakness of this 2v2 comp is just getting overwhelmed by classes like DH/Warrior/DK/Rogue.

16 - Outlaw Rogue & Resto Druid (B Tier)

All three rogue specs have had a decent showing inside of twos with the most common and strongest of course being Outlaw Rogue. Outlaw Rogues predominantly works best in Resto Druid and makes up one of the strongest 2v2 comps period, but realistically work with most healers to varying levels of success. Outlaw Rogues have less consistent pressure compared to Shadowlands but gain a 25% ms effect. Outlaw now has access to Step Kick which is a big deal in 2v2. Outlaw will still be good, just not as OP as they were in Shadowlands.

17 - Arcane Mage + Sub Rogue (B Tier)

Every Mage spec having access to DB opens up Arcane Mage + Sub Rogue as a viable comp for 2v2. As opposed to fire, arcane mages have to cast to do their burst and if they get kicked on Polymorph, then they are also locked out on their damage spell school. Additionally, you don't have access to Cauterize, which means you might get one-tapped by things like The Hunt or Aimed Shot. For these reasons, the Arcane version of the comp is one tier lower. Arcane does however have a ton of mobility and doesn't have to wait for Combustion to do meaningful damage in a go.

18 - Marksmanship Hunter + Holy Priest (B Tier)

Marksmanship Hunter received the biggest buff Intimidation (stun) out of all the Hunter specs.  Now, Intimidation and the entirety of Marksmanship Hunter's burst (Double Tap->Rapid Fire->Wailing Arrow->Rapid Fire) are both included on a one-minute CD. They no longer need their companion to shock their prey because they can do it on their own alone. Holy Priests can now use fear and stun once every 30 seconds, which they were previously unable to accomplish. Due to Chastise's stun into trap ability, this is extremely useful in a 2v2 situation with a Hunter. Every 30 seconds, the healer can be stunned with Chastise, which allows the hunter to fully concentrate on dealing damage rather than wasting globals worrying about how to set up their trap. You can Scatter Shot into Fear the healer and Chastise stun the DPS to get off your Aimed Shots if Intimidation is on CD. This 2v2 comp would be A+ tier if the hunter weren't so weak.

19 - Disc Priest & Beast Mastery Hunter (C Tier)

Even Disc Priest may now follow up every trap with fear because of the Slow break baked into Fade. Disc Priest also brings double PI, Mindgames, Lifeswap, rapid MD, and greater mana regen. If the adversary is too slippery to set a trap, you can just scatter in fright after earning Scatter Shot as a Hunter. Steel Trap is now available to Beast Mastery Hunters, which will facilitate some matchups, but overall, the class is still extremely squishy and is no longer able to remove debuffs with Craven.

20 - Frost Death Knight & Resto Shaman (C Tier)

No MS effect means Frost DK will never be a top contender in 2v2.  Frost DK did however gain Asphyxiate and more consistent pressure. Pillar goes are still as potent as ever and Lightning Lasso offers another way to lock down the enemy. If Frost deals a ton of damage with full gear, then they have the potential to move up A tier.

21 - Elemental Shaman & Preservation Evoker (C Tier)

Elemental Shamans didn't gain any utility outside of Earthgrab Totem and Gust of Wind, they are however quite tanky in 2v2 and you have the potential to close out a game with surprise burst damage. Preservation Evoker is most likely the most fun healer to play with as an Elemental Shaman because they do considerable damage and can easily push in on the enemy. Having access to a Fear (Sleep Walk) and Hex is also quite strong. Overall though, the Ele will have a hard time into meta melees like DH and DK that just passively outheal magic damage.

22 - Ret Paladin + Disc Priest (D Tier)

This comp is unexpectedly a dampener. The ret has very strong offheals, 1 min cd on Blessing of Sacrifice and a Blessing of Protection for the Priest, this means that the Priest is free to spam Smite, reducing the Cooldown of Mindbender by up to 90 seconds. The game plan is to use every HoJ on the enemy healer and win during Wings in dampening. Not a very fun comp to play but if you're a main Ret Paladin, then this is the way.

23 - Balance Druid & Holy Paladin (D Tier)

Short HoJ CD, Repentance, Cyclone, Bash, and Root Beam open up some wild CC chains for Balance Druid. Additionally, Holy Paladin and Balance Druids now have access to a kick that is actually really strong in certain matchups The reason why we don't rate this comp higher is the nerf to fast Cyclones that now have a 0.8 sec cast time instead of 0.4. If Blizzard buffs the consistent damage of Balance Druids, then this comp has the potential to be B-tier.

24 - Frost Mage & Preservation Evoker (D Tier)

Any squishy class that used to play with a Resto Druid is now better off playing with a Preservation Evoker. The way higher damage output Preservation brings to the table more ways to deal with burst damage from your opponent. With Preservation Evoker, you get the healing of an MW Monk, the mobility and CC of a Druid (Sleep Walk), and the damage of a Priest. While you only have one 3 sec stun on a 60 sec CD, you still have 70% slows and an abundance of root effects, locking melees in place. Don't expect to push high with this comp, but if you are looking for some fun games, then this is the comp for you.

25 - Shadow Priest & Holy Paladin (D Tier)

Shadow Priests have historically never been good in 2v2 and I don't think that's going to change in Dragonflight. Fear now has a 30 sec cd instead of 60 and every minute you have a strong burst but that's usually not enough to win in 2v2. Maybe there is some sort of rot/dampening build you can run that lets you play like an Affliction Warlock, but even then your limited mobility will make you an easy target for all melees. Holy Paladin is most likely the best healer for Shadow Priests because they bring: short HoJ cd, Repentance, Blessing of Freedom, Blessing of Sacrifice, and Blessing of Protection.

26 - Enhancement Shaman & Affliction Warlock (D Tier)

Enhancement Shamans usually can't play with a healer because they have no ms effect, no mobility, and no stun, which means they can't close out a game and eventually just fall over. The biggest buff Enhancement Shamans got in Dragonflight is Thunderstorm, being able to knock the enemy away whenever you or your Warlock get stunned is a big deal. Using Lightning Lasso on the enemy DPS is another nice tool to give your Warlock some breathing room

The game plan is to have your lock do maximum cleave damage while you support him.
