The Forbidden Rites league is a core limited-time event in Path of Exile 2 Version 0.5.5, featuring a full set of unique league challenges for players to complete. Finishing these challenges unlocks exclusive cosmetic rewards and permanent hideout decorations that are only available during this league cycle. This guide breaks down every PoE 2 Forbidden Rites challenge with clear objectives, completion requirements & methods, and all challenge rewards.

PoE 2 0.5.5 Forbidden Rites Challenges Guide

The Path of Exile 2 Forbidden Rites league and its corresponding challenges launched on September 4, 2026, and will end on December 11, 2026, upon the release of the 1.0 update. All exclusive rewards can only be obtained before the league concludes. There are 8 total challenges in the Forbidden Rites league. Each challenge has fixed objectives, requirements and rewards.

1. The Riteseeker (11 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Banish 11 specific Ritual encounters by finishing Ritual events in designated campaign areas across Acts 1–4 and all Interlude zones.

Required Areas:

  • Act 1: Grim Portents, Grave Tidings

  • Act 2: Desert Omens, Ash and Bone

  • Act 3: Savage Wilds, Blood Offerings

  • Act 4: Blood in the Water, Tidal Omens

  • Interlude: Shadow Over Ogham, Sands of Ruin, Death in the Ranges

Completion Tip: Clear all Ritual altars and enemy waves while progressing through the campaign. Do not skip Ritual events in the listed zones, as every required area contains one mandatory Ritual to complete for this challenge.

2. The Hunter (15 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Defeat 15 unique named rare monsters scattered throughout the PoE 2 campaign. These enemies appear in specific Act and Interlude zones and scale in difficulty as players advance.

Required Targets & Spawn Locations:

  • Areagne, Forgotten Witch – Act 1: Grelwood

  • Vargir the Feral Mutt – Act 1: Ogham Farmlands

  • The Ninth Treasure of Keth – Act 2: The Lost City

  • The Brood Queen – Act 3: Infested Barrens

  • Ranbu the Pale Shaman – Act 2: The Khari Crossing

  • Narag of the Vile Word – Act 3: Matlan Waterways

  • The Noxious Behemoth – Act 3: Toxic Bloom

  • Magmanore, the Molten Clawcrunch – Act 4: Volcanic Warrens

  • Adelina, Guardian of the Pearl – Act 4: Singing Caverns

  • Forael, the Soulkeeper – Act 4: Abandoned Prison

  • Fallen Quartermaster – Act 4: Abandoned Prison

  • Harano, the Meat Carver – Act 4: Ngakanu

  • Mimbok, the Enslaved – Act 4: Isle of Kin

  • Ashen Arachnid – Interlude: Ashen Forest

  • Frozen Mandibles – Interlude: Ashen Forest

  • Bonus related rare foes: Moltenmettle, Bloodgulp, Fleshpierce, Bloodbilge

Completion Tip: Explore every corner of the listed zones, as these named rares are not guaranteed map bosses and can spawn in side areas. Later targets have higher health and damage, so upgrade gear and skills before engaging.

3. The Ascendant (4 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Obtain all 8 Ascendancy Points by completing four tiers of Ascendancy Trials across the campaign and endgame.

Trial Completion Requirements:

  • 1st Trial: Complete the basic Ascendancy Trial in Act 2

  • 2nd Trial: Complete the basic Ascendancy Trial in Act 3

  • 3rd Trial: Clear a Level 60+ trial with at least 3 floors and a Level 65+ trial with 10 trial segments

  • 4th Trial: Clear a Level 75+ trial with at least 4 floors and a Level 75+ trial with 10 trial segments

Completion Tip: Late-game trials feature tough Chaos Trial enemies. Prepare defensive stats and mobility skills to avoid dying and failing trial progress.

4. The Master (1 Completion Required)

Core Objective: Reach character Level 90.

Completion Note: This is a long-term passive challenge. Players will naturally reach Level 90 by farming endgame maps, completing league mechanics, and finishing campaign content. It is often one of the last challenges players complete due to the high XP requirement for late levels.

5. The Reliquarian (50 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Obtain 50 unique items exclusively from Forbidden Rites Ritual events.

Completion Method: Earn Tribute currency by clearing Ritual altars and enemy waves, then spend Tribute on Ritual Favour rewards that grant unique items.

Optimization Tips:

  • Allocate Ritual Atlas passive nodes like Tempting Offers (extra Favour rerolls) and Magnanimous Offerings (free reroll chance)

  • Use the Hour of the Nameless node to expand the unique item reward pool

  • Reroll low-value Favour options frequently to increase unique drop odds

6. The Nameless (18 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Use 18 different Ritual Omens throughout the league.

Available Omen Types: Omen of Gambling, Omen of Bartering, Omen of Greater Exaltation, Omen of Refreshment, Omen of Amelioration, Omen of Resurgence, all Sinistral/Dextral modifier Omens, Omen of the Ancients, Omen of Whittling, Omen of Catalysing Exaltation, Omen of the Blessed, Omen of Sanctification, Omen of Chance, Omen of Answered Prayers, Omen of Secret Compartments, Omen of the Hunt, Omen of Reinforcements.

Obtainment & Usage: Omens can be purchased via Ritual Tribute or traded from the in-game Currency Exchange (unlocked in Cruel Difficulty). Simply activate each Omen in your inventory to count toward the challenge progress.

7. The Cartographer (3 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Fully allocate three major endgame league Atlas Passive Trees.

Exact Requirements:

  • Max out 36 Ritual Atlas passive nodes

  • Max out 31 Delirium Atlas passive nodes

  • Max out 35 Abyss Atlas passive nodes

Progress Tip: Earn Atlas skill points by completing mechanic-specific maps: Caer Tarth for Ritual nodes, Withered Willow for Delirium nodes, and Well of Souls for Abyss nodes. This is an endgame-focused challenge that requires sustained map farming.

8. The Vanquisher (3 Completions Required)

Core Objective: Defeat the three endgame pinnacle bosses of the Forbidden Rites league.

Required Bosses:

  • The Aberration

  • Xesht, We That Are One

  • Atziri, the Red Queen

These are the hardest endgame encounters in the league. Players need fully optimized builds, maxed elemental resistances, and endgame gear to defeat these pinnacle bosses consistently.
