WoW Midnight Season 2 PvP Tier List (12.1)

July 22, 2026

Patch 12.1 marks the arrival of Midnight's first full seasonal update, and Season 2 is arriving faster than most players anticipated based on PTR testing. While PvE changes have dominated the patch notes with a wave of reworks, PvP is receiving a different kind of treatment: sweeping global adjustments that fundamentally reshape how combat feels in arenas and battlegrounds. From aggressive nerfs to slow effects, extended diminishing returns windows, and refreshed rewards, Season 2 is set to redefine the PvP experience for every class. Here we are going to sort out the WoW Midnight 12.1 PvP Tier List based on the class tuning and PvP changes coming in Season 2!

WoW Midnight 12.1 PvP Changes

Season 2 is bringing a noticeable shift in the pace and feel of PvP. Instead of piling class-specific reworks onto every spec, Blizzard has taken a global approach, targeting the mechanics that dictate mobility and control. Slows are being scaled back across the board, crowd control windows are getting longer between reapplications, and melee classes are positioned to benefit the most from these changes. On top of that, new training modes, fresh rewards, and quality-of-life tweaks are being rolled out to onboard new players and keep veterans engaged.

With that context in mind, let's take a closer look at the specific PvP changes coming in Season 2.

Global Slow Reduction

Slows have always been a key tool in PvP, letting classes keep enemies at range while pelting them with damage. Blizzard is reining this in with a widespread reduction:

  • Heavy cooldown slows (like Hunter's Chimeric Sting): reduced from 90% to 70%.

  • Mid-cooldown slows (like DK's Chains of Ice): reduced from 70% to 50%.

  • Passive and short-cooldown slows (Crippling Poison, Concussive Shot, Hamstring): reduced from 50% to 30%.

The result is a meta where every class moves noticeably faster, and melee specs especially gain uptime on their targets.

Extended Diminishing Returns Window

Crowd control diminishing returns are being extended from 16 seconds to 20 seconds. Players will sit in CC for shorter overall periods, and chaining stuns, fears, and polymorphs back-to-back becomes harder. CC still matters, but the pacing feels less oppressive.

Class-Specific PvP Adjustments

  • Balance Druid: New passive "Stellar Protection" reapplies Stellar Flare when Moonfire or Sunfire is dispelled, punishing dispel-heavy teams.

  • Restoration Druid: Ancient of Lore returns as a PvP talent, transforming Tree of Life into a massive healing juggernaut with CC immunity and 30% damage reduction. Call of Lunara's cooldown increases by 30 seconds.

  • Evoker: Hover no longer removes movement effects entirely but instead prevents movement speed from dropping below 100%. Swoop Up has been removed.

  • Hunter: Hunting Pack radius increased to 30 yards, Roar's Sacrifice now reduces damage by 25% (up from 15%), and Scatter Shot returns for all specs.

  • Mage: Improved Mass Invisibility cooldown reduction scaled back to 3 minutes. Ring of Fire now lasts 4 seconds. Overpower Barrier absorb bonus reduced from 100% to 60%. Arcane's version now grants Time Warp for 6 seconds instead of invisibility.

  • Warlock: Bonds of Fel damage increased by 100% and radius extended to 12 yards.

New Onboarding Content and Rewards

Season 2 introduces a Random Arenas training mode, allowing players to face bots in 3v3 matches for practice. Alongside this, expect new PvP class sets, Gladiator recolors, a new weapon enchant, the Venomous Gladiator's Gorge Drake as the top mount, and the Vicious Lightbloom Boar for participation rewards.

WoW Midnight 12.1 PvP Tier List (DPS, Healer, Tank)

Now that we've covered the systemic changes, here's how every spec looks heading into Season 2.

  1. Restoration Druid (S Tier)

With the return of Ancient of Lore and buffs across the board, Resto Druid is shaping up to be the strongest healer in the game. Many healers are expected to reroll from Preservation Evoker over to Resto Druid this season.

  2. Balance Druid (S Tier)

Big changes are coming with new dispel protection via Stellar Protection, plus damage buffs, healing buffs, and a strong tier set boosting burst. Boomkin is trending toward being one of the strongest specs overall.

  3. Beast Mastery Hunter (S Tier)

Small nerfs to burst are offset by huge buffs to consistent damage. BM is already dominant, and Season 2 keeps it at the top.

  4. Havoc Demon Hunter (S Tier)

Even after burst nerfs and defensive tuning to Glimpse, Havoc remains one of the best melee specs available. The toolkit is too strong to fall below the top ranks.

  5. Affliction Warlock (S Tier)

With minimal nerfs and the second-best caster spot already locked down, Affliction is projected to become the best caster in Season 2, especially as stat scaling favors Warlocks.

  6. Unholy Death Knight (A Tier)

Facing pet nerfs but benefiting from a rework toward consistent damage plus the Mistweaver Fistweaving nerf indirectly helping pet specs. Expected to start the season strong.

  7. Vengeance Demon Hunter (A Tier)

A hidden gem this season. More stats mean more versatility, haste, and mastery, making Vengeance nearly unkillable while still dishing out damage.

  8. Preservation Evoker (A Tier)

Getting hit with dream breath and direct healing nerfs, but the immunity and CC toolkit keeps this butterfly annoying enough to remain top-tier.

  9. Windwalker Monk (A Tier)

Moving away from one-shot builds toward a brawler style with buffed consistent damage. Expected to be reliable throughout the season.

  10. Mistweaver Monk (A Tier)

Despite the Spinning Crane Kick nerf, the tier set looks great for Rising Sun Kick builds, and Sheilun's Gifts synergy remains strong.

  11. Retribution Paladin (A Tier)

Burst window nerfs (Divine Toll, Wings) are compensated by buffs to consistent damage. The toolkit: Bubble, BoP, Freedom, Sanctuary, keeps Ret firmly in A tier.

  12. Holy Paladin (A Tier)

Minimal visible changes, but Holy Paladin is always solid in arena thanks to its incredibly long-lasting kit that pushes games into extended pressure windows.

  13. Discipline Priest (A Tier)

Moving away from the toxic Voidweaver build with two stacks of Void Shield and Oracle buffs. A cleaner, healthier playstyle heading into Season 2.

  14. Holy Priest (A Tier)

Nice buffs including Guardian Spirit while Divine Hymn is channeling. Sitting in a stronger spot than it has been in recent memory.

  15. Shadow Priest (A Tier)

Volleys now stack up to three charges and Shadow Word: Madness applies them. Overall flat buffs put Shadow Priest in a good position.

  16. Assassination Rogue (A Tier)

Kingsbane and Deathmark receive nerfs, but consistent damage is buffed. Currently insanely good and remains a top choice.

  17. Outlaw Rogue (A Tier)

Activatable Thistle Tea and buffed Killing Spree balance out small Between the Eyes nerfs. Very solid across the board.

  18. Subtlety Rogue (A Tier)

Minimal changes but the toolkit remains one of the best in the game. Reliably strong in nearly every composition.

  19. Enhancement Shaman (A Tier)

Small healing buffs keep Enhancement in a stable A tier position with no major swings expected.

  20. Destruction Warlock (A Tier)

Bonds of Fel getting a massive buff, plus improved survivability and faster casts. Expected to hit A tier as the season progresses.

  21. Demonology Warlock (A Tier)

Barely any changes, but scaling favors Warlocks in later seasons, so Demo climbs naturally with gear progression.

  22. Arms Warrior (A Tier)

Changes are minimal, and slow reductions won't stop Arms from being solid against most compositions, particularly with Mage counterplay staying difficult.

  23. Blood Death Knight (B Tier)

Minor defensive buffs, nothing meta-shifting. Solid tank, nothing special heading into Season 2.

  24. Frost Death Knight (B Tier)

The Chains of Ice nerf hurts against melee comps. Historically strong at season start, but likely to settle into B tier long-term.

  25. Feral Druid (B Tier)

Very few changes. Great in the hands of a strong player, weak in the hands of a bad one. Same story as always.

  26. Devastation Evoker (B Tier)

Slow nerfs and the Hover change limit mobility, though damage still looks fine. Sitting at the low end of B tier.

  27. Marksmanship Hunter (B Tier)

The removal of Double Tap kills the burst identity. Explosive Shot rework hasn't convinced most players yet, dropping MM to a shaky spot.

  28. Survival Hunter (B Tier)

Barely any changes. Still relies on gimmicks like Freezing Trap combos and the classic one-shot windows.

  29. Arcane Mage (B Tier)

Second charge of Prismatic Barrier is a nice pickup, but Arcane always sits in a weird spot — either broken or garbage, with little in between.

  30. Fire Mage (B Tier)

Combustion nerfed, outside-combustion buffed. In PvP that's effectively a nerf to the win condition, dropping Fire to B tier.

  31. Frost Mage (B Tier)

Losing one Barrier charge is small compared to the still-intact toolkit. Roots, blinks, and invisibilities keep Frost oppressive and nearly uncatchable, though it lands here on paper.

  32. Brewmaster Monk (B Tier)

Small survivability buffs, but tanks in general have a limited PvP ceiling.

  33. Restoration Shaman (B Tier)

Minimal changes. If the tier set applies to Surging Totem, it could climb to A tier, but for now B is the safest placement.

  34. Augmentation Evoker (C Tier)

Forever a niche CC spec, particularly against pet classes. Not enough changes to shift its status.

  35. Elemental Shaman (C Tier)

Lava Burst crit buffs don't apply to PvP, while Ascendance is getting nerfed. A flat nerf for a spec that wasn't even top-tier.

  36. Fury Warrior (C Tier)

Will pump in lower ratings but fall off hard at higher levels. Struggles to keep up in competitive lobbies.

  37. Protection Warrior (C Tier)

Weak overall. Not much competing with the flashier tanks or offensive specs available.

Season 2 is looking like one of the more mobility-forward and melee-friendly seasons Midnight has offered so far, with global slow nerfs and extended DR windows changing the fundamental pacing of every game. Restoration Druid is set to dominate the healer position, Balance Druid and BM Hunter are trending upward, and Frost Mage continues to be one of the most oppressive casters to play against despite losing a Barrier charge. Meanwhile, specs like Marksmanship Hunter, Elemental Shaman, and Fury Warrior are heading into rough waters unless additional tuning arrives before launch.
