Diablo 4 Anathema of the Primes Drop Boss, Location, Build & Farming Guide

Anathema of the Primes is a new, unique weapon for Warlock builds in Diablo 4 Season 13 Lord of Hatred. This complete walkthrough covers D4 Anathema of the Primes item effects, drop boss and location, best farming methods, and recommended character build.

Diablo 4 Anathema of the Primes Drop & Farming (S13 LoH)

Anathema of the Primes is a unique Two-Handed Sword only usable by the Warlock class in Diablo 4 Season 13 (Season of Reckoning) & Lord of Hatred. This strong weapon changes how Warlock players play Demonform builds. It makes slow core skill rotations faster, lets players cast area attacks more often, and improves speed farming and boss killing performance.

Its unique effect is that hitting enemies with a Core Skill increases the damage they take from you by 30% per Skill, stacking up to 90%. Notably, all Archfiend Demonform Skill Variants count as Core Skills and consume Wrath instead of standard class resources. This unique mechanic is the cornerstone of meta Warlock Demonform builds, enabling consistent damage amplification across all packed enemy groups and elite boss encounters. Anathema of the Primes offers solid damage boosts and changes how Warlock resource mechanics work. It lets core combat and movement skills use Wrath instead of other resources. Players can cast skills nonstop without resource shortages, so this weapon is required for most endgame Warlock speed farming and dungeon pushing builds.

Diablo 4 Anathema of the Primes Drop Boss & Location

Currently, Andariel is the only known boss that drops Anathema of the Primes in Diablo 4 Season 13, so Andariel is the primary target for dedicated farming.

Boss Unlock Requirements, Lair Keys & Location

  • Minimum Difficulty: Torment 1 or higher (World Tier 4 equivalent; lower difficulties have zero drop chances)

  • S13 Lair Boss Rework: Season 13 launched a full Lair Boss key system rework, revamping the traditional boss summoning and looting mechanism. The game now features two core universal boss key types: Lair Keys and Greater Lair Keys, replacing the old exclusive single-boss materials like Pincushioned Doll. Players no longer need unique dedicated materials for individual Lair Bosses, and can flexibly consume corresponding universal keys to unlock boss loot hoards. Additionally, the Lair Boss roster has been expanded: Bartuc (Horde boss) and Astaroth (Escalating Nightmare Dungeon boss) are newly added to Initiate Lair Bosses, while the Butcher is integrated into Greater Lair Bosses.

  • Lair Key Rules & Acquisition: All Season 13 Lair Bosses are divided into three tiers: Initiate, Greater, and Exalted, with exclusive key requirements for each tier. 1x Lair Key is required to unlock the loot hoard of all Initiate Lair Bosses (Varshan, Grigoire, Beast in the Ice, Lord Zir, Urivar, Bartuc, Astaroth). Defeating any Initiate Lair Boss rewards 1x Greater Lair Key. All Greater Lair Bosses (Duriel, Andariel, Harbinger of Hatred, Bloody Butcher) require 1x Greater Lair Key to open their post-fight loot hoards. Exalted-tier bosses adopt exclusive special materials: Belial needs 2x Betrayer's Husk, and Mephisto requires 1x Crux of the False Prophet.

  • Universal key farming sources: Basic Lair Keys drop from endgame content, including War Plans, Helltide events, World Bosses, Legion Events, and Tree of Whisper Caches. Greater Lair Keys are exclusively obtained by clearing all Initiate Lair Bosses. Exalted-tier materials Betrayer's Husk drops from Belial’s Ambush, while Crux of the False Prophet drops from high-Torment endgame activities.

  • Boss Location: Hanged Man's Hall. The entrance to Hanged Man's Hall is located in eastern Kehjistan, right next to the Tarsarak waypoint.

How to Get Anathema of the Primes in Diablo 4 Season LoH?

There are multiple methods to farm and get Anathema of the Primes in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred.

1. Targeted Boss Farming

Defeat all Initiate Lair Bosses (including newly added Bartuc and Astaroth) to farm Greater Lair Keys, which are used to unlock Andariel’s loot Hoard after the fight. Andariel’s hoard holds the highest drop chance for Anathema of the Primes. The Season 13 Lair boss update optimized the endgame loot mechanism, introduced unified universal boss keys, expanded the Lair Boss roster, and improved endgame loot quality, making unique item drops, crafting materials, and Resplendent Sparks easier to obtain for gear upgrades.

2. Horadric Cube Upgrade Gambling

Farm basic two-handed swords from Torment 1+ endgame content, including Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide events, and Infernal Hordes. Use the updated Horadric Cube crafting system to upgrade common 2H Swords into unique versions. Players have a random chance to get Anathema of the Primes through this craft method.

3. Endgame Open-World & Dungeon Farming

Clearing high-difficulty endgame content like max-tier Nightmare Dungeons, Escalating Nightmare Dungeons, and active Helltide events gives small random chances to obtain this weapon. These areas have many elite enemies and reward chests that drop rare gear, though this method is far less reliable than farming Andariel directly.

Best Build for Anathema of the Primes in D4 Season 13 LoH

The Tyrant's Grasp Warlock Build is one of the best choices to use with Anathema of the Primes in D4. This simple Demonform build boosts Warlock movement speed, area clear speed, and boss damage, and fits all endgame farming and dungeon pushing scenarios. This weapon changes the Archfiend skill Tyrant's Grasp - Demonic Grasp to consume Wrath instead of Dominance. Players can cast this pulling skill nonstop with no resource issues. Each core skill hit raises enemy incoming damage by 30% (max 90% stacking damage boost), which greatly improves damage against groups of enemies and bosses. It also lets Rampage - Demonic Smash use Wrath, letting players move and reposition freely during fights.
