The Mirage league brings a refreshed Atlas with several new maps added and a handful removed. Choosing the right maps to favorite, scry, and farm can mean the difference between a trickle of returns and a flood of divines. This guide covers the full 3.28 map list with ratings for Layout, Mob Density, Divination Cards, and Boss, followed by a ranked list of the top maps you should be targeting this league.

PoE 3.28 Map Tier List

The 3.28 Atlas has gone through a rotation - maps like City Square, Defiled Cathedral, Glacier, Jungle Valley, Tropical Island, and Waste Pool have been added, while Lava Lake, Vaal Pyramid, and Vaal Temple have been removed. Each map is rated across four categories: Layout (L), Mob Density (M), Divination Cards (D), and Boss (B), each scored on a 1–5 scale. The Total (T) is a weighted composite that gives you a quick snapshot of overall farming quality.

PoE 3.28 Best Maps To Favorite & Scry

Below are the Top 10 maps to favorite and target in Mirage league, ranked by a combination of overall farming quality, divination card value, layout efficiency, and how well they interact with the Mirage and Scrying mechanics.

1. Tropical Island — T: 4.7 ★ New in 3.28

The highest-rated map on the entire Atlas this league. Tropical Island carries a perfect 5 in the Divination Card category, and its open, linear layout allows for very fast full clears. This is the kind of map where you can blast through packs in one sweep and maximize your Nameless Seer spawn chances per hour. If you're favoriting maps and want a premium all-rounder that prints div cards, this is your number one pick.

2. Defiled Cathedral — T: 4.5 ★ New in 3.28

This map is the div card king of 3.28. It drops The Apothecary, Seven Years Bad Luck, and The Innocent (the 40-rare-item card, which is still worth real currency). The layout scores a 4, meaning you won't waste time navigating awkward corridors. As the league progresses and Mageblood climbs toward 900+ divines, Defiled Cathedral becomes the single best map to scry by a wide margin. Even now in the early league window, it is a top-tier pick. Favorite this map and never look back.

3. Beach — T: 4.4

Beach has been a community favorite for years, and 3.28 is no different. It earns a 5 in Divination Cards thanks to The Fortunate, an extremely common drop that provides steady, reliable income over the course of a farming session. The layout is wide open and fast. If you want consistency — a map where you're guaranteed to see returns every single day rather than gambling on a big-ticket drop — Beach is the answer. It is one of the three best maps to scry at any point in the league.

4. City Square — T: 4.0 ★ New in 3.28

City Square earns the highest Layout score on the Atlas at 5. The map is tiny, open, and has multiple bosses — which gives it a unique interaction with the Mirage mechanic. You have a high chance of encountering bosses inside the Mirage, which means more boss altar options and more targeted loot. If you're running an altar-heavy Atlas tree or want fast map completions with strong boss access, City Square is a top pick. Running Elder Guardian versions of this map also enables boss altar spawns during normal mapping.

5. Glacier — T: 4.0 ★ New in 3.28

Glacier returns to the Atlas with a bang, earning a 5 in the Boss category and solid 3s across Layout, Mob Density, and Div Cards. The map is compact and clears fast, with a boss encounter that doesn't waste your time. Glacier has long been a favorite for league-start farming and it holds up well in Mirage for anyone who wants high-volume, low-friction mapping.

6. Waste Pool — T: 4.0 ★ New in 3.28

Another new addition to the 3.28 Atlas, Waste Pool posts a strong 4.0 total with good marks across the board. The Layout score of 4 keeps things efficient, and balanced ratings in Mob Density, Div Cards, and Boss difficulty mean you won't feel like you're giving anything up by running this map. A strong choice for anyone building out a diverse favorite list.

7. Jungle Valley — T: 4.0 ★ New in 3.28

Jungle Valley is a community favorite for altar farming, and for good reason. The layout funnels monsters into tight kill zones, mob density is strong, and the map interacts well with the Mirage mechanic. Players running Elder Guardian maps on Jungle Valley this league report getting boss altar options, which was not always the case in prior leagues. Pair this with a breach/beyond Atlas setup and you'll have endless hordes to mow through. A very satisfying map to grind.

8. Arcade — T: 3.9

Arcade is a clean, straightforward map that has quietly been one of the best all-purpose farming options for multiple leagues. The layout moves you forward in a natural path with minimal backtracking. With a 3.9 total and no weak spots in its ratings, Arcade is a safe and efficient choice for anyone who values speed and smooth clears over chasing specific div cards.

9. Burial Chambers — T: 3.9

A legacy farming map that still holds up well. Burial Chambers scores a 4 in Layout, meaning you're moving through it quickly, and the div card pool includes cards worth targeting. If you've farmed this map in past leagues and have muscle memory for the layout, it remains a productive option in 3.28. Pair it with monster density scarabs and shrines for best results.

10. Underground Sea / Armoury — T: 3.9

These two maps tie at 3.9 and both offer well-rounded farming profiles. Underground Sea has consistently been a favorite for its combination of good layout and respectable div cards, while Armoury posts balanced 3s across every category, giving it reliability without any obvious weakness. Either one is a strong addition to your favorite map rotation.

Honorable Mentions

MapTWhy It's Worth Considering
Tower3.1Lower overall score, but it drops both The Patient and The Nurse — two Headhunter-related div cards. At current Headhunter prices (80–90 divines), Tower is one of the best maps to scry purely for high-value card drops. If Headhunter drops below 50–60 divines later in the league, its value falls off and Defiled Cathedral takes over entirely.
Crimson Temple3.8Strong div card pool with a 5 rating in that category. A worthy favorite if you want variety beyond the top 10.
Villa3.8Solid all-around scores. A reliable workhorse map that won't disappoint.
Barrows3.8Good layout (4) and balanced ratings. A smooth map to clear quickly.
Mesa3.3Simple, small layout that some players love for raw speed. Feels a bit empty compared to denser options, but if you're a slam build looking for a no-nonsense map, it works.

Tips for Finding the Nameless Seer and Scrying Efficiently

The Nameless Seer — the NPC that enables Scrying — spawns from natural monsters you kill in maps. More monsters in the map means more chances per run. Here's how to maximize your odds:

Map Preparation:

  • Always run 8-mod maps (corrupt maps to hit 8 mods; you can also slam 6-mod maps cheaply). Buy cheap 8-mod maps in bulk from trade if needed (2–3 chaos each).

  • Favorite the maps listed above so they drop repeatedly.

Scarab Setup:

  • 2x Monster Lineage Scarabs — adds more natural monsters

  • 3x Domination Scarabs — spawns shrines, which bring additional packs

Atlas Tree:

  • Take all pack size nodes

  • Take magic monster and rare monster nodes

  • Take map effect nodes (these scale your in-map pack size)

  • Take shrine nodes (shrines add monsters and give speed buffs)

  • Run red altars (or blue) — they spawn instantly and speed up clears

In-Map Strategy:

  • Clear as fast as possible. Speed is everything when searching for the Seer.

  • Click shrines — the buffs (especially Acceleration) help you clear faster.

  • You do not need to kill the map boss. Skip it to save time.

  • If there are fewer than ~50 monsters remaining and you haven't found the Seer, move to the next map.

  • Check the Mirage each map — the Seer can appear there, though it is rare. If the Mirage doesn't show the Seer option, just full clear and move on.

Scrying Target Priority:

  1. Defiled Cathedral — best long-term value as Mageblood price rises

  2. Tower — best in early/mid league while Headhunter price is high (80+ divines)

  3. Beach — best for steady, consistent returns via The Fortunate

Finding the Seer is entirely RNG-dependent and can take hours. There is no way to force the spawn — you can only increase the number of rolls per map by packing in more monsters and clearing them faster.
