World of Warcraft: Midnight is still deep in alpha, but one thing’s already clear — Blizzard’s sweeping redesigns have completely reshaped how every spec feels to play. Today, we got you WoW Midnight most fun tier list, ranking the funniest tanks, melee, and ranged dps.

We made these most fun WOW Midnight Alpha tier lists because not every player cares about topping meters or chasing meta builds — sometimes, you just want a spec that feels good to play. WoW: Midnight is the biggest class shake-up the game has seen in years, and with nearly every spec reworked or redesigned, we wanted to see which ones actually deliver on gameplay flow, responsiveness, and identity. These WoW Midnight tanks, melee and ranged dps rankings are based purely on how fun each spec feels in the current Alpha, not on damage numbers, survivability, or tuning. Every spec was tested in real content and target dummy rotations, focusing on key factors that make a class satisfying to play


Most Fun WoW Midnight Tank Tier List

A Tier

Blood Death Knight 

Received a significant rework, with new mechanics around Blood Plague and Dancing Rune Weapon, but lost Bone Storm and several Runic Power spenders.

Guardian Druid

Got fun new mechanics like Sundering Roar and Red Moon, but lost several iconic passives and interactions.

Protection Warrior

Recently reworked in 11.2, so not much changed — still plays well, but has questionable design decisions around AoE and button overlap.

Vengeance Demon Hunter

Smoothed-out playstyle, but lost signature mechanics (Demonic, Illuminated Sigils, and Frailty stacking). Feels cleaner but less flavorful.

B Tier

Brewmaster Monk

Partially reworked — lost Weapons of Order and Rising Sun Kick; pruned to reduce button bloat, but key defensive interactions feel weak or incomplete.

Protection Paladin

Substantial pruning — lost most of its layered defensive stacking. Feels weaker and somewhat empty, though still solid baseline gameplay.


Most Fun WoW Midnight Melee DPS Tier List

S Tier 

Frost DK

Hardly changed from The War Within, but that’s actually good news. Its rotation still feels crisp and engaging with just enough optimization to reward skill. The new Apex talent that adds a recallable Frostwyrm is fun and flashy without adding complexity. Breath and Obliteration builds both feel great.

Unholy DK

After recent updates, Unholy feels alive again. It lost some unnecessary clunk (no more wounds) while keeping its plague and ghoul identity. You can now extend Dark Transformation and smooth out your rotation. It’s thematic, powerful, and fun — easily S tier during its “honeymoon phase.”

Havoc DH

Still one of the smoothest specs in the game. Blizzard pruned minor clutter (Sigil of Flame and Glaive Tempest) but baked the effects into core buttons like Blade Dance. The gameplay loop flows naturally — fast, flashy, and impactful — exactly what you expect from a Demon Hunter.

Enhancement Shaman

The gold standard of modern melee design. It feels deep without being overloaded. Procs like Hot Hand and Stormbringer flow beautifully. You don’t need add-ons to track anything — you just play and feel powerful. Lightning Rods, Sundering procs, and fluid elemental effects make it incredibly satisfying.

A Tier

Feral Druid

Simplified but still engaging. Snapshotting remains, yet now it’s visually clear when bleeds are empowered. Chomp adds flair, but otherwise Feral hasn’t changed much. It’s solid, just lacking new excitement.

Survival Hunter

Surprisingly smooth gameplay, but totally confused fantasy. It plays well — Raptor Strike and Mongoose Fury feel great — yet the spec identity (bombs, shotguns, melee?) feels disconnected from “hunter.” Still fun moment-to-moment.

Windwalker Monk

Initially disappointing, but it grows on you. Nearly every ability has added nuance or synergy, giving depth without overwhelming buttons. The new Chi economy makes the rotation smooth and satisfying. It lacks big burst “wow” moments, but it feels consistently fun to play.

Arms Warrior

A comeback story. Heroic Strike and Sweeping Strikes charges are back, giving it a nostalgic yet modern rhythm. Slam and Colossus Smash changes make the kit flow better. It’s close to S tier — just waiting on tuning and gear to see its full potential.

Fury Warrior

Still enjoyable, still fast-paced, but missing a bit of spark. Removing Odin’s Fury hurts, and Ravager’s removal feels bittersweet. The rotation is very straightforward. You always feel like you’re raging, but not necessarily evolving during combat. Good fun, not great fun.

B Tier 

Retribution Paladin

Simple to a fault. It’s easy to play but feels stripped of depth. Cooldowns and procs barely change your rotation, so there’s little engagement beyond spamming the same few buttons. It’s fine if you already enjoy Ret, but otherwise uninspired.

Assassination Rogue

A quiet winner for rogues. It’s been smoothed out with smart changes like Crimson Tempest becoming a generator that spreads bleeds. Energy regeneration improvements help pacing. It’s not flashy but feels tidy, deliberate, and satisfying — a solid middle-of-the-road experience.

D to F Tier 

Subtlety Rogue 

Once a masterclass in controlled burst windows, now hollow. Shadow Dance doesn’t buff damage anymore, Secret Technique feels weak, and Dance Macabre became a dull passive. The fluidity is there, but the excitement is gone.

Outlaw Rogue 

The tragic fall of what used to be WoW’s most dynamic melee spec. Roll the Bones got overly simplified — now just “good, better, best” buffs. Crackshot and Hidden Opportunity playstyles vanished, and constant bugs make it unplayable. It’s the least fun spec to test right now.


Most Fun WoW Midnight Ranged DPS Tier List

S+ Tier

Elemental Shaman

Elemental Shaman is the perfect spec right now — “probably even better than Enhancement.” It embodies Blizzard’s new design philosophy perfectly: every ability feels impactful, talent choices all make sense, and nothing feels bloated. Stormkeeper defines the rotation beautifully, Fire Elemental’s return adds nostalgic flavor, and both Lightning and Elemental Blast builds feel satisfying. It’s simple yet deep, explosive yet clean — a model spec for Midnight’s design direction.

S Tier

Affliction Warlock

Affliction Warlock has finally hit a sweet spot — simpler, smoother, and cleaner than before. The new AoE Agony spreading talent removes a lot of the clunky tab-dotting pain while keeping its DoT-class identity. Returning abilities like Seed of Corruption and Haunt (as shard spenders) make the spec feel fresh and complete again.

Balance Druid 

Balance Druid feels almost revolutionary. The new New Moon / Full Moon setup with Elune’s Chosen gives it an invigorating rotation loop. A “short Convoke” version of Keeper of the Grove adds burst excitement, and the class feels both mobile and impactful. It could become one of the most mobile ranged casters in the game, sitting comfortably near S-tier.

A Tier

Arcane Mage

Arcane Mage is simple but surprisingly satisfying. You can choose between two strong playstyles — an Orb-based one generating endless projectiles, or a Missiles-focused one that consumes charges. Each feels fast and engaging without needing addons or heavy tracking. Despite some internal contradictions (like Missiles vs Barrage charge consumption), it’s a joy to play.

Devastation Evoker

Devastation Evoker feels completely reimagined with its new Flame Shaper setup. Consuming Fire Breath DoTs to create huge burst moments feels amazing — you can chain fiery explosions and actually “feel like a dragon.” It’s flashy, fast, and fluid.

Devourer Demon Hunter

Devourer Demon Hunter is the surprise standout of the new specs — simple, intuitive, and insanely satisfying. Whether you play the close-range Hungering Slash + Void Blade version or the safer ranged Collapsing Star + Void Ray style, it feels clean and responsive. It’s accessible for newcomers but still fun for veterans looking for impact and flow.

B Tier

Augmentation Evoker

Augmentation Evoker is fun but limited by its support identity. The rotation feels great, especially with the “future self” capstone that mirrors your actions, but without party metrics or meters, it’s hard to feel your contribution. Fun, but lacking payoff.

Demonology Warlock

Demonology Warlock has lost complexity but gained consistency. Imploding imps to summon Doomguards feels great, but it’s a little bland in single-target. Still, that Doomguard proc moment is very satisfying.

Shadow Priest 

Shadow Priest is better than before — Tentacle Slam is a clear upgrade to Shadow Crash — but it’s unfinished and missing some key talents. It’s improved in quality of life but not reinvented. Archon as a Hero Talent feels dull, while Voidweaver shows promise.

Destruction Warlock

Destruction Warlock feels like a watered-down version of live. It works, but lacks the flash or freshness of its peers. Everything is familiar — but without the spark.

C Tier

Marksmanship Hunter

Marksmanship Hunter plays smoothly, especially with Dark Ranger or Sentinel hero talents, but feels overly simplified. It lost Streamline (which made Aimed Shot faster), so Aimed Shot now feels too slow and not quite satisfying enough. There’s potential, but it needs more visual and mechanical punch.

Frost Mage

Frost Mage is fun conceptually — the freezing/shatter rework feels great — but its Water Elemental is weak and unfinished. Without its new talents, it feels incomplete and lacks the impact the fantasy promises.

D Tier

Beast Mastery Hunter

Beast Mastery Hunter has completely lost its flavor. There’s no pet management depth, no decision-making — just press buttons on cooldown and watch things happen. It’s the definition of mindless simplicity. Pretty visuals, hollow gameplay.

Fire Mage

Fire Mage is the lowest of the low — described as “Z tier” bad. The rework removed nearly everything that made Fire engaging. It now boils down to two core buttons and one spender. There’s no sense of mastery, no satisfaction, and no flow.
