Offline trading becomes available in the Path of Exile 2 new league. How to start it? This article will cover everything you should know about the Asynchronous trade system and currency exchange in PoE 2 0.3 & Rise of the Abyssal league, covering the unlock, merchant tabs, NPC, buying and selling methods.
Asynchronous Trade is a new trading system introduced in Path of Exile 2 0.3.0 (The Third Edict). There is a Currency Exchange NPC named Ange, the Merchant. Instead of relying on direct player-to-player interaction, players list PoE 2 items for sale in Merchant Tabs within their hideouts. Other players can browse and instantly buy these items through an in-game Market Panel or the official trade site, with transactions occurring automatically. The biggest advantage of the new trade system is that you can buy and sell items offline, without needing to be online simultaneously.
Currency Exchange Update in PoE 2 0.3
The currency exchange function has been moved from Alva to a new NPC named Ange. Ange is located in the Act 4 town, which is a new act introduced in PoE 2. This change was not explicitly mentioned in the patch notes, which caused some confusion among players. Players who had items or currency stored with Alva should not worry, as those assets are still accessible; only the currency exchange service itself has moved.
To unlock access to Ange and her currency exchange services, you must start the quest that leads you to Act 4. This quest is initiated by entering the time portal in Act 3, which triggers the transition to Act 4.
How to Unlock the Asynchronous Trade System in PoE 2?
There are two primary ways to get access to the asynchronous trade system.
1. For Free-to-Play Players
Progress through the story until you reach Act 4.
Clear all five corner islands in the map area, including Whakapanu Island.
Once these islands are cleared, you will unlock the Shoreline Hideout.
In your hideout, Ange will appear, granting you access to the Manage Shop feature and enabling asynchronous trade. This unlock generally happens about 2-3 hours later than for supporter pack owners.
2. For Supporter Pack Owners or Returning Players
Upon entering Act 4, Ange will be available earlier, usually near the Kingsmarch area.
If you have a supporter pack hideout like the Beacon of Salvation, you can access Ange immediately.
Longtime players with previous league hideouts will also have earlier access.
To use Ange, add her to your hideout NPCs via the edit screen, then interact with her to manage your shop.
How to Sell Currency/Items on PoE 2 Trade Sites via Asynchronous Trade?
1. Purchase or upgrade merchant tabs.
You need at least one Merchant Tab, which can be bought from the microtransaction shop or upgraded from the previous Premium Stash Tab. Do not buy premium quad stash tabs once you update the game to the latest version; they do not work for selling.
2. List the currency orbs or items you want to sell.
Go to your Merchant Tab in your hideout and choose an item you want to sell. On PC, hold Ctrl + Left Click on the item to open the pricing interface. Set your desired price in any currency you have, such as Chaos or Exalted Orbs. Then confirm to list the item for sale. Once listed, the item is locked for a cooldown period to prevent price manipulation or spam.
3. Manage your sales.
When your item sells, the currency appears in Ange’s Earnings Tab. You can claim your earnings by interacting with Ange. There is currently no detailed sale history, but this may be added later.
How to Buy Currency/Items on PoE 2 Trade Sites via Asynchronous Trade?
1. Open "The Market" panel.
Press the Merchant Panel keybind. Alternatively, access the market panel from the in-game trading interface.
2. Search and filter items.
Use filters to find the item you want, such as the item type, skill mods, and rarity. Set the top-right dropdown to Instant Buyout Only to see items available for immediate purchase. Browse the filtered list for the desired item.
3. Purchase wanted items.
Click on the item listing. You can review the seller’s entire shop for other items before committing. Select and confirm your purchase. Purchased items are delivered instantly to your hideout. What to note is that items bought cannot be sold back immediately.
How to Convert Premium Stash Tab to Merchant’s Tab in PoE 2?
1. Visit the Official Website.
Go to pathofexile2.com and log in to your account.
2. Access Your Account Settings.
Click on your account name at the top. Select "My Account" from the dropdown menu (https://pathofexile2.com/my-account/overview).
3. Find the Merchant Tab Upgrade Option.
In your account page, look for the section labeled Merchant's Tab Upgrade.
4. Convert Your Tabs.
You will see a list of your Premium Stash Tabs. Click on the Upgrade button next to the Premium Stash Tab you want to convert, and then confirm the upgrade when prompted.
5. In-Game Usage.
Once converted, your Merchant Tab will appear in-game when the update is live. You can now list items in this tab for asynchronous trade, allowing other players to buy directly from your hideout automatically.
Note: This conversion is only available for Premium Stash Tabs purchased before the Third Edict update. After the update, you must buy Merchant Tabs directly in-game using points or microtransactions.
Best Types of Items to Buy in PoE 2 0.3
1. Early Game
Focus on weapons primarily, as upgrading your weapon is the fastest way to increase power. Use filters to search for weapons that improve raw DPS.
Always check the item level and corruption status. Corrupted items have locked modifiers and cannot be crafted on.
Ensure the item level is appropriate for your character level.
Use the “requirements filter” to limit items by minimum level.
Don’t pay more than 1 Exalted Orb equivalent for campaign-level gear.
Prioritize items with the highest DPS and avoid those with unwanted elemental damage unless it fits your build.
Always check the buyout price and beware of gold fees in instant buyouts.
2. Mid to Endgame
Once you reach the endgame and unlock the Map Device, trading becomes more complex.
You want gear that provides resistances (aim for at least 60% resistance, max 75%).
Look for high item-level gear, as it can roll better affixes.
Use detailed stat filters to find items with specific resistances or utility stats. For example, search for a utility belt with high cold resistance and life regeneration.
Consider your character’s needs carefully; you might want to prioritize resistances, armor, life, or damage stats depending on your build.
Use the in-game market or the official website to save and reuse search filters for efficiency.
3. High-End, Perfect Builds
At high levels, aim for perfect or near-perfect gear optimized for your build.
Use advanced search options like stat groups, minimum modifier counts, and weighted sums to find items that maximize your damage and defenses. For example, for rings, filter for specific damage types plus resistances.
Use weighted sum filters to balance resistances or damage stats according to your priorities.
Price your items by comparing against instant buyout listings and avoiding lowball offers.
Use premium stash tabs to list high-value items publicly and price them appropriately.
Currency Used for PoE 2 Trading
Exalted Orbs are the most common and stable currency for Path of Exile 2 trading. Chaos Orbs and Divine Orbs are also used but usually have different price points or tiers of items. You can also trade using currency equivalents, but be cautious as prices fluctuate.
