PoE 3.26 Essence Farming Strategy (Atlas Tree, Scarab Setup, Maps and More)

6/30/2025 5:03:17 PM

If you do not want to get into complex mechanics and long cycles, today we are going to introduce an easy farming strategy that works well in Path of Exile 3.26, along with its atlas tree, scarab setup, map choices, selling suggestions, and more.

PoE 3.26 Essence Farming Strategy

This Essence farming strategy offers a fun and beginner-friendly way to make currency in Path of Exile 3.26. It involves running low-tier maps (specifically tier 6 maps) very fast while using essences and scarabs to boost monster drops. What you should do is to put lots of essences into your maps to spawn essence monsters, then kill them quickly to collect essences, which you can then sell in bulk for profit. It’s not the absolute fastest or richest method, but it’s easy, fun, and viable by any POE build or player level. This is a great way to earn mid-game currency and upgrade your gear. If you have overpowered builds with better gear equipped, there is another way to make more profits on the basis. On the whole, you can make about 6 to 10 Divine Orbs per hour.

Atlas Passive Tree Setup

Your Atlas passive tree should focus mainly on essence-related nodes. Unlike some older strategies, you don’t want to bother with beasts or other mechanics here because beasts are not profitable right now. You do not need to unlock every node; focus mostly on essence and shrine nodes for speed and efficiency.

  • Essence nodes: Take all of them to increase the essence monster spawn rates.

  • Shrine nodes: These help you find shrines that give free buffs, making runs faster and easier.

  • Niko chance nodes: Get a 100% chance to find Niko in maps, so you can mine byproducts and trade them for one-socket resonators, which sell for a little extra currency.

  • Scarab nodes: Pick nodes that improve essence scarab drops and map scarab sustainability.

Scarabs Setup

Scarabs are special items you socket into maps to add monsters or effects. Scarabs can be obtained as random drops or from the Safehouses of the Immortal Syndicate. For this farming strategy in PoE 3.26, there are two types of Scarab setups that can be applied.

Basic setup (if you have no map device slots unlocked):

  • 2 Essence Scarabs + 1 Stability Scarab

Better setup (with two slots unlocked):

  • 1 Ascent Scarab + 1 Stability Scarab + 3 Essence Scarabs (Add an additional Essence Scarab with 5 slots unlocked)

Stability Scarab changes how Remnants of Corruption work. Ascent Scarab raises essence monster tiers, letting you get more valuable essences. Focus on farming Essence Scarabs and Ambush Scarabs because these tend to be the most profitable. Essence Scarabs spawn more essence monsters for more loot.

Best Maps

Run tier 6 maps or higher because essences only spawn on maps tier 6+. Avoid tier 16 maps unless your build is very strong because essence monsters get very tough. Good maps for this strategy are ones with easy layouts and good connectivity, like City Square and Tropical Island.

You don’t need to buy many maps initially; 5 to 10 maps are enough. Unlock 5 to 6 favored map slots to sustain your map pool. Favor one map type in most slots and another map type in fewer slots. Running one map type drops the other map type in rewards, and vice versa, so you get a self-sustaining cycle of maps.

Remnant of Corruption vs Crystal Resonance

Remnants of Corruption are items that can re-roll or upgrade essence monster drops, which helps increase your profit. Use a Remnant on groups of 4 or more essences to re-roll their types. If you see purple essences like Scorn, Envy, Misery, or Dread, always use a Remnant on those monsters. This can upgrade these essences into rare, valuable corrupted essences like Insanity or Hysteria. Avoid wasting Remnants on monsters with only 1 or 2 essences because the chance to profit isn’t worth it. This smart use of Remnants significantly raises your chances of getting valuable essences.

You can also choose not to use the Remnant of Corruption, instead building around the Crystal Resonance Atlas passive, which greatly boosts essence drops but conflicts with Remnants. You run mainly City Square maps here because they have separate bosses, making it easier to kill each boss one by one, but this strategy is harder and needs a stronger, faster build to handle tougher bosses reliably. You use four Essence Scarabs plus one Scarab of Ascent to maximize essence monster spawns and higher-tier essence drops. The Atlas tree focuses heavily on taking Crystal Resonance and essence-related nodes, while disabling conflicting mods like Remnant-related ones. This setup is more expensive and demanding, but can yield higher profits, sometimes over 10 Divine Orbs per hour. When selling essences, you can still use the same trade platforms or currency exchange, but because you get more and better essences, the total profit is higher. The limitation is that this way requires better gear and build to run maps efficiently, so it’s recommended for more experienced players or those with strong characters.

Best Way to Sell Essences

After farming, you’ll have many essences that you want to sell. You can bulk sell essences quickly, but you’ll get slightly less currency because buyers pay below market value. For more profit, sell essences yourself on the official trade website: either sell large stacks at divine orb prices (requires patience and large stock), or sell smaller stacks at chaos orb prices (faster, but more trading fees). You can also reroll low-value essences (like Anguish, Torment, Misery) using the Horticrafting Station to turn them into high-value essences. To unlock it in your hideout, you’ll need to run maps until the entrance to The Sacred Grove appears and complete the Sacred Grove quest.

Costs and Profits

When it comes to the final profits, you can make about 6 Divine Orbs per hour normally. Each map costs roughly 34 Chaos Orbs to run (including map crafting), but you make around 81 Chaos Orbs per map before costs. Running about 20 maps per hour is typical if you keep runs under 3 minutes each. Keep your movement speed high to maximize maps per hour.
