Do you want to participate in the new mechanism of the Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur league and establish a thriving settlement in Kingsmarch? Let’s get into the PoE 3.25 Kingsmarch progression/upgrades guide that involves recruitment, mining, smelting, farming, shipping, disenchanting, and more.
Path of Exile (PoE) 3.25 Kingsmarch Guide
(Updated on August 16, 2024) Which building to upgrade first for the Kingsmarch in PoE 3.25 and which level is the best? Recruitment, Mining, and Smelting should be the top 3 priorities to upgrade, then choose farming or shipping depending on your need, the remaining ones include Disenchanting, Runesmithing, and Mapping are considered a lower priority because endgame-oriented or not worth investing in at an early stage.
PoE Kingsmarch Progression & Upgrades
Gold and resources are the most important items to get in Kingsmarch, as they are crucial for progressing and you’ll need a significant amount to level up your towns.
1 - Recruitment
The first thing that should be upgraded in Path of Exile's Kingsmarch is recruitment. Upgrading this building increases the maximum town population, which is the number of workers you can have, and the skill rank or specialty rank of the workers. Each level of the building allows for an additional level of worker specialty, which improves the overall time it takes to finish jobs in the town, including mining, farming, and shipping. However, higher-level workers require higher wages to maintain. The cost to upgrade the recruitment building from rank 1 to rank 10 is relatively low compared to other buildings.
In terms of recruitment, some players think there is no reason to get this over level 6, they're more than enough for what you need. The increase in productivity from level 5 to level 6 is around 10%, but the price difference can add up quickly. Therefore, there is no need to go beyond level six until you finish maxing out your town. To maximize the benefits of recruitment, it is best to focus on leveling up the stations that are most important for your play style. For example, if farming is your weakest station, it may be worth investing in level six farmers to increase your productivity.
2 - Mining
Mining is also a high priority to upgrade with numerous benefits, it is one of the main resource generation in the town and allows you to mine Ores encountered in mapping and campaigns. Upgrading the mining building increases the maximum number of miners and the types of ore that can be mined. The threshold to reach is at least level 6, which is the last level to give you the maximum number of miners. Rank 6 also unlocks the ability to mine every single kind of ore currently available. Additional levels beyond rank 6 improve the speed and quality of the ore but are not a high priority. If you are blasting through content and have a lot of ores and gold to burn, you can consider upgrading to rank 7 to increase mining speed.
3 - Smelting
The next building to upgrade in Kingsmarch is the smelting. Smelting turns ores into bars, which multiply the value of the ore by five. The smelted bars are also necessary for upgrading buildings later in the game. Upgrading the smelting building to rank 6 or 7 is recommended. Rank 7 allows you to smelt all the ores in the game, making it a good point to stop prioritizing this building. It is recommended to upgrade the smelting building after upgrading the mining building by one level, as they are directly connected. The other buildings can be upgraded almost equally due to cost differences, but starting from level 5 or 6, you can prioritize certain buildings based on your playstyle. Smelting should always be prioritized after mining.
4 - Farming
Moving on to farming, which is the second resource generation in the town. It generates a food-type resource that can be used for trading and upgrading the town. Rank 7 or Rank 8 is the threshold to unlock every type of thing that can be grown on the farm, making it a good point to stop prioritizing this building. At level 8, you can unlock blue Zanthimum, a valuable resource, as well as an additional crop plot and faster farming speed. The farm is a simple building and does not have many other uses beyond trading and upgrading the town.
5 - Shipping
Shipping is a very gamble mechanic, and upgrading it as quickly as possible can unlock more ships and new locations. However, it is important to consider the risk and make the decision. On the town, you can send resources to different ports to earn rewards. The type of reward depends on the resources shipped and the port you are shipped to, while the value of shipment determines the quantity and quality of rewards. The shipment value needs to be controlled between 100 and 50,000,000, it is determined by the resources shipped, with the higher tier resources contributing more. If your shipment value goes past a certain point, you'll start to accumulate risk, which you want to avoid.
How to Maximize Rewards of PoE 3.25 Kingsmarch Shipping?
From the Kingsmarch, players can earn exclusive rewards by completing the shipment, including runes, tattoos, and unique POE items such as Serle's Masterwork and Ynda's Stand. The most effective way to maximize your shipping rewards in the Kingsmarch is to use the reward multiplier to scale the base value of shipments. There are two ways to achieve the goal using the shipment value multiplier
- Thaumaturgic Dust: a shipment value multiplier, a small amount of dust can significantly increase your shipment value, allowing you to make shipments more frequently. It also affects the rarity of the rewarded item.
10 dust: 1.5174 x shipment value
55 dust: 2.0018 x shipment value
519 dust: 2.5003 x shipment value
8104 dust: 3.0000 x shipment value
- Port Quota: each port has a list of resources they want, and if you send resources that match the request, the number of resources will get a multiplier. But ores and bars are interchangeable. Fulfilling quotas increases the port's demand for resources, and also results in additional bonuses like unique items. It's recommended not to ship any resources that aren't going towards a quota, as it's not worth it and can waste resources that could be used for future shipments.
1) Early Game Strategy
- Ship only to 2 ports to focus on raising favor faster.
- Ship exact requested amounts and resources to satisfy ports.
- Prioritize increasing favor over total shipment value.
- Pick bars over ores when shipping metals.
- Getting favor high is the main way to scale rewards over time.
2) End Game Strategy
- Get shipping skills to level 11 for a 50% favor multiplier bonus.
- Check port favor multiplier is high (100+ ideally) before big shipments.
- Ship requested resources that give desirable rewards.
- Only ship if the requested quantity is high enough for mid-risk runs.
- Profit shipments use 20k dust and fill favor resources until 30-40% risk.
- Repeat profit shipments until the request is filled or resources depleted.
- Can send 3 ships at once once setup is optimized.
- Rebuild setup if favor/resource/request barriers are hit.
- Take advantage of full favor/dust multipliers for big returns.
3) Other Tips
- Use a high-level character to collect rewards.
- Upgrade your port to its highest level to increase speed, crew members, and multipliers.
- Use the quality upgrade feature to roll high-value items.
- Consider sending resources to distant ports, which have larger cargo holds and more rewarding trades.
- Test different combinations of resources to find the best trade values.
- Hire experienced crew members to increase shipment capacity and reduce risk.
- Don't send unsolicited resources, as they will result in low-value rewards.
- Don't overfill the risk bar, as this will cap the rewards and potentially cause valuable items to be lost.
- Don't trade ores, as bars are more valuable.
- Don't waste resources on low-value shipments.
6 - Disenchant
The next is the disenchant building. This allows you to disenchant rare items and get dust for crafting or upgrading. Level 8 is a threshold to increase the dust received for each corrupted implicit by 50%, but it is not a big deal early on. The disenchant building costs a lot to upgrade and is not a priority early on. Level 2 or 3 is sufficient to disenchant rare items, and it can be upgraded later when you focus on endgame content.
7 - Runesmithing
Upgrading Runesmithing requires runes, which can be difficult to obtain early in the game. players will want to upgrade this building to max rank to unlock new and powerful enchants for their items.
8 - Mapping
There is no need to rush upgrading mapping as it is highly risky. There is a high chance of failing and having the runner die, making it not worth the investment early in the game.
