Based on the current trajectory and the original launch timetable, the WoW Classic WotLK phase 4 release date is predicted in December. In this WOTLK Classic Phase 4 prep guide, you will know all changes coming to Phase 4, and all things to do before Phase 4 release.

What to Expect From WotLK Classic Phase 4?

Here’s what we can expect in WotLK Classic Phase 4:

- Quel'Delar Questline: The Quel'Delar questline is an epic 12-part adventure filled with rich lore and exciting challenges. Players will embark on a thrilling journey, culminating in the acquisition of a powerful 251-item level weapon. The Battered Hilt, which initiates the quest chain, can be obtained from the auction house, making it accessible for fresh level 80 characters.

- Ashen Verdict Vendor: Phase 4 introduces the Ashen Verdict reputation system, earned through activities in Icecrown. Players can gain a reputation by completing quests and utilizing trash-farming methods. As reputation increases, players unlock an upgradable ring, new leg and boot recipes, and arrow and bullet recipes. These additions offer more BoE upgrades for both fresh characters and mains.

- WotLK Phase 4 New Dungeons: In Phase 4, players are treated to three new dungeons in Icecrown Citadel, serving as an excellent catch-up mechanic for those looking to gear up quickly. These dungeons offer 232-item level gear, and there is a chance to obtain a hilt drop, initiating the Quel'Delar questline. Additionally, players can sell these hilts on the auction house for lucrative profits.

- WotLK Phase 4 New NPCs: Phase 4 introduces exciting new NPCs, including Frozo. Players can convert Frozen Orbs into eternals, affecting the prices of Eternal Fire. Another notable NPC, Brazie Gearspanner, in ICC, offers new items.

- WotLK Phase 4 New Wintergrasp Gear: Phase 4 brings a fresh set of 245-item level cloaks, shoulders, and necklaces from the Wintergrasp vendor, Champion Rosslain. These gear upgrades are highly valuable for both PvE and PvP content.

- WotLK Phase 4 Weekly Quests: Phase 4 introduces a shift from daily quests to a more manageable and rewarding weekly quest system. Players will now receive a weekly Raid kill Quest, rewarding them with Frost and Triumph emblems. Additionally, ICC offers five weekly quests that provide Frost emblems, epic gems, and potentially a BoE item.

- Final Kirin Tor Rings: Players who have held onto their Kirin Tor rings can finally upgrade them to their final form with 251-item level rings from Harold Winston in Dalaran.

- WotLK Phase 4 Icecrown Citadel Raid: The highlight of Phase 4 is the Icecrown Citadel raid, boasting a whopping 12 epic bosses. Players can earn gear up to 284-item level, making this raid a highly sought-after content for all adventurers.

- Shadowmourne Legendary: Shadowmourne is undoubtedly the most challenging legendary to acquire, requiring a nine-part quest chain and collecting 50 Shadowfrost Shards. This legendary weapon will undoubtedly prompt players to reroll to warriors, death knights, or paladins, making it a highly desirable upgrade.

- Random Dungeon Finder (RDF): Arguably the most significant upgrade in Phase 4 is the introduction of the Random Dungeon Finder (RDF). This cross-realm system automatically groups five players based on their roles, streamlining the process of finding groups for dungeons and raids.

Things to Do Before Phase 4 Release & How to Prepare for Phase 4 for WotLK Classic?

1. Farm Gold

Gold is an indispensable resource in WoW. It enables you to purchase gear, consumables, and other necessary items. Here's how you can effectively farm gold:

  • Daily Quests: Daily quests in Icecrown and Storm Peaks offer a consistent flow of gold.

  • Run Old Raids and Dungeons: Running old raids and dungeons can net you a good amount of gold from boss kills, selling gear, and materials that drop.

  • Professions: Professions like Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning allow you to gather materials to sell on the Auction House. Jewelcrafting can also be profitable by crafting and selling gems.

2. Gear Your Characters

Having the right gear is crucial. The difficulty level in Icecrown Citadel will be significantly higher than in any previous content. Every point of damage and every bit of health will count.

  • Run Dungeons and Raids: Continue running the previous phase's dungeons and raids frequently to acquire the best gear for your class and specialization. If you're a fresh level 80 character, start with Heroic Dungeons, then progress to Naxxramas, Ulduar, and Trial of the Crusader raids.

  • Craft Gear: Keep an eye on any crafting recipes that might become accessible with phase 4. Some of the crafted items could be significant upgrades.

  • Reputation Grinds: Research and pursue reputation grinds that offer valuable gear upgrades. This includes factions related to ICC, such as the Ashen Verdict, which offers powerful rings, weapons, and trinkets.

3. Level More Characters If One of Your Current Ones Intend to Get Shadowmourne

Shadowmourne is a two-handed legendary axe added to the game in Phase 4 of WotLK Classic, with the introduction of the Icecrown Citadel raid5. It can only be used by Warriors, Paladins, and Death Knights6. To obtain Shadowmourne, you need to collect enough fragments and complete a quest chain5. You can level up more characters to increase your chances of obtaining Shadowmourne.

4. Farm Badges for Gems

Gems are a great way to enhance your gear. In Phase 4, Badges from ICC quests and encounters can be exchanged for gems that provide powerful bonuses. To efficiently farm badges, form or join groups for ICC raids and prioritize bosses that drop badges. Pursue daily quests and repeatable quests provided by ICC factions to gather additional badges.

5. Level Up Your Professions

Professions can provide essential buffs and gear. Make sure to max out your professions and gather necessary materials in advance.

  • Alchemy and Cooking: These two professions provide essential buffs for raids. Stock up on flask/potion materials and food ingredients.

  • Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Leatherworking: These crafting professions can produce high-quality gear. Look out for new recipes in phase 4.

  • Enchanting and Jewelcrafting: These professions will be crucial for maximizing your gear's potential. Keep a stock of enchanting materials and gems.

6. Form a Solid Team

Having a reliable and coordinated team is crucial for conquering the challenges of ICC.

  • Guild and Raid Team: If you're not in a guild yet, now is the time to join one. Look for a guild that aligns with your goals in the game. If you're already in a guild, begin coordinating with your guildmates about the ICC raid.

  • Roles: Make sure your team has balanced roles. You need a good mix of tanks, healers, and DPS players.

7. Stock up on Consumables

Finally, make sure to stock up on consumables. They can provide essential boosts and utility during raid progression.

  • Flasks and Potions: These provide significant buffs to your stats. The Flask of Endless Rage (for DPS), Flask of the Frost Wyrm (for spellcasters), and Flask of Stoneblood (for tanks) will be particularly helpful.

  • Food: Fish Feast is a commonly used food buff, but specific stat foods like Mega Mammoth Meal (for strength), Poached Northern Sculpin (for agility), and Firecracker Salmon (for spell power) can be beneficial.

  • Scrolls and Elixirs: Scrolls of Stamina VIII, Scroll of Intellect VIII, and various battle and guardian elixirs can provide additional buffs.

What to Invest in for Phase 4 WotLK Classic & Best Way to Prepare for Phase 4

There are several commodities that you can invest in right now that have a good chance of increasing in price in Phase 4 due to increased demand. Some good investment items include Eternal Shadows, Eternal Earth, and Epic Gems.

  • Eternal Shadows and Eternal Earth: These are crafting materials used in many high-level recipes across various professions. With the introduction of new crafting recipes in Phase 4, the demand for these materials is expected to rise.

  • Epic Gems: Once the price drops enough, Epic Gems will appear. This investment is based on the new gear people get when new raids open, and new gear also means people will need more Epic Gems.

  • Titanium Ore: Titanium Ore is a valuable mining resource used in crafting various items, including gear and weapons. The demand for Titanium Ore tends to surge during new content releases. Investing in Titanium Ore can be a smart move, as prices are likely to rise, especially if you have access to a mining profession.

  • Titansteel Bar: Titansteel Bars are used in many high-level Blacksmithing recipes. Similar to Titanium Ore, the demand for Titansteel Bars is expected to rise in Phase 4 due to the introduction of new gear and recipes.

By focusing on these aspects, you'll be well-prepared for WoW: WotLK Classic Phase 4. Start now and leave no stone unturned in your preparation for ICC!

What Is the Most Sought after Class/Spec for Phase 4 WotLK?

Here are some suggestions from Reddit comments:

1.

Unholy remains the best class going into ICC, Fury has a niche role (huge cleave dps) that is highly contested because Warrior is a popular class.

2.

- Affliction and UH are most sought after and you can stack them.

- Both specs for rogues are great and sought after but a tier below the classes above.

- Fire mages are great dps and continue to scale really well but there are just so many mages.

- Feral, Rets, and Fury are doing very well and scale well but you probably don't want to bring more than 1. Feral in particular is insane dps but hard to play.

- Hunter/spriest/boomie/ele sham/ enhance probably just want to bring 1, mediocre DPS.

3.

- Instant raid spot: Affliction, Unholy

- High demand: Shamans, Boomkin, Combat Rogue, Hunter

- Medium demand: any other Ranged DPS

- Probably won't find a raid: Warrior, Frost DK

4.

- Resto Shaman (since other specs become least wanted).

- Retribution paladin (4 paladins needed on certain fights for AM rotation in P4 + hand of sac that will help the tanks out. Some Rets spec in to divine sacrifice instead of AM as well. Hand of freedom+Cleanse watch in P5 on halion on shadow side).

- Combat rogues (Solid DPS, and gearing in p4 can be done to half bis in first couple of fights, so it's a spec that pumps hard, but noth bothered by progression).

- Demolock (These were super hard to come by).

- Balance Druid (Needed a lot, but same thing as with Demolock).

- MM hunters (Mandatory, but we just couldn't keep one for a long time, being primadonnas that hunters are).
