Elden Ring DLC 2023: Release Date, Content Leaks & Speculation

2/8/2023 11:44:59 AM

In this guide, we are going to give you a good ahead idea about the DLC coming to Elden Ring in 2023, and major points pertaining to Elden Ring DLC will be covered here. This may be some of the most credible information we've had so far but we're going to break it all down Point by point, there is going to be a bit of speculation but this is all just more and more context and a grand scheme of an announcement coming very soon and you're going to see exactly why we are saying. But first of all, let's talk about the release date of DLC in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring DLC 2023 Release Date

Elden Ring, from Software's biggest success to date, will see further development, as promised to us in a number of ways, including in the original financial report back in March 2022 on Miyazaki himself numerous times, such as in the interviews or even on stage at the game awards, but "WHEN" is the operative word here. The free Colosseum PvP DLC launches on December 7, 2022, but there doesn't seem to be long-term excitement for the game, so we're very much looking forward to a ton of DLC content being added to Elden Ring in time to be paid.

And it usually takes FromSoftware less than a year to produce a lot of full DLC expansion content for their titles, as can be seen with past SoulsBorne titles. It's been almost a year since Elden Ring was released on February 25, 2022, but we still haven't heard any news about the new DLC. But with the Elden Ring 1 Year Anniversary Community Celebration being held in Stockholm, we look forward to news about the DLC.

Anyway, we truly believe the DLC is genuinely around the corner and is likely to be with us this spring. We will let you know as soon as the Elden Ring DLC/Expansion is officially announced and the possible release date.

Elden Ring DLC 2023 Leaks & Speculation

The game of the year 2022, Elden Ring, will celebrate its one-year anniversary very soon, and players passionate about the inner earth are eager to discover more content. They are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of DLC which will introduce new areas, creatures, characters, quests, and more. Good news for the worried Hardless, additional content would indeed be on the program on the side of FromSoftware. On top of that, it would be "huge".

1 - A "Huge Substantial" DLC Approaching in Elden Ring?

When the Coliseum update or DLC01 dropped, it was a lot of back and forth about people that were satisfied with it and those that were unhappy. with it taking up the spot of a quote-unquote DLC and one of the people who were a little bit less than happy about this was Lance McDonald who is a very prominent figure in the data mining and modding scene.

And after the coliseum was released, he took to Twitter saying:

"Yeah it sucks and it's probably the worst DLC FromSoftware has ever released, but yes, the Coliseum update is the first DLC for Elden ring it's called DLC1 internally and has been planned as the first DLC since before release. "

"In a year or two I'll be able to talk more about what happened behind the scenes with this DLC. But for now, Elden ring is still in active development and you should have confidence in FromSoftware."

Now regardless of if you agree or disagree, that what he makes clear is that he has inside knowledge about this which brings us to what's been going on lately. Around this time Lance also had a lot of other things to say about future DLC for Elden Ring. In a conversation and his Discord server, he said there is a huge DLC coming and you can see Abraham Link here said as in a proper area to which Lance said "I know a lot about what it's adding but I don't know about any new gameplay mechanics" and he says "yeah really big in the context of the proper area question". Would it be the new quests, new maps, and new characters, that the Shardless are waiting for?

The data miner adds that he knows nothing about the DLC: neither its gameplay, nor its quests, nor its plot. The only thing he is certain of is that he will be consistent and could well add several hours of play to Elden Ring. If this information turns out to be true, it would be exactly what players are looking forward to. Yet, nothing has been confirmed by FromSoftware yet. The company remains very discreet and has revealed little information about an upcoming DLC. Will the Sleepless get a big announcement on Elden Ring's birthday?

2 - Two New Maps in Elden Ring DLC?

It was last October that Lance McDonald shared part of his discovery on the networks. In the hidden files of Elden Ring, the dataminer had observed the mention of two unpublished maps that are not (yet) available. On top of that, McDonald described both maps as "massive." A qualifier that strongly reminds us of the one used to describe the upcoming DLC. Could it be possible for these two new maps to be part of the next additional content? In any case, Lance McDonald's findings have not yet been confirmed by FromSoftware and Elden Ring fans will have to be a little more patient before knowing if a DLC will really see the light of day in inner earth... or not.

You may remember that back in patch 1.07, there was a lot of data mined content and among that content was a map for a new Legacy dungeon - one unlabeled map and a ton of reserved spots for new weapons and bosses as well as files for new NPCs labeled someone yet unseen, so we don't exactly have to go off Blind Faith here, but this brings us to our second point.

3 - Where could an Elden Ring DLC Take Place?

The tracks are numerous but the one that has made the community react the most is that of the marine whirlpool. It all started on Reddit, when a user posted a photo of a whirlpool located north of the map, above the Manoir du Volcan and the Bastiombre. Asking only, "Does anyone know what this is?" he initiated a colossal theory.

Immediately, reactions poured in and many players associated this place with the (potential) future DLC. While we think we observe a boat sinking in a whirlpool, others see it as a portal or even a cursed place that would teleport all those who venture there. The theory was launched.

The Slackers did not lack creativity, saying that it would be possible for a DLC to turn the map, and that it would only be possible to access this upside-down world through this portal of the seas. It is true that the oceans/seas are an area of mystery in Elden Ring and remain, until then, little exploited.

Nevertheless, these are only theories and nothing has yet been confirmed by the FromSoftware teams. Who knows if the company's developers will be as creative as the players of the inner earth?

4 - DV Updated Play Test 3 Heralds the Next Big Update in Elden Ring?

On the theme DB basically what happens here is that we can take a look at the development process and see when the game is actively being worked on on the back end. Now on the page for Elden Ring, you can see this is all official and the last recorded update was on January 30th, 2023.  If we go down here to the branches tab, we can see all the different types of work that have been done and when they were last updated and we are coming up on about two months since the Coliseum update, now what's interesting is that we can see play-test-3 was done on January 30th, however play-test-1 and play-test-2 were done before the launch of the game.

So we haven't had something this serious in a long time, let us also put an important note here that play-test-3 could also just refer to the build of play testing that they're doing meaning that the play-test-3 is simply the build they've been using post launch. Now what we've heard is that the last time play testing was updated was right before the Coliseum update. Let us clarify a few things as well this does not 100 guarantee that they're working on DLC I do find it very interesting that they are play testing they could just be trying new things working on new ideas and not planning on releasing them yet, but if we follow their standard pattern we are very much overdue for an update. And The standard pattern that we can clearly see is that the updates and patches have been spaced roughly one month apart. Now what makes this instance unique is that a lot more types of work have been done than just your standard patch with obviously the play testing catching a lot of people's eye, so what's going to be interesting to see what comes of this it may just be the next patch but again there's something different about this one exactly what that is though remains to be seen.

5 - FromSoftware Social Media Teaser The New DLC?

This one on the surface is very small but we think it actually is a pretty good sign that doesn't need to be overlooked at all. We talk about how the marketing for Elden ring has resumed over on Twitter and we have a similar instance on Instagram. The official FromSoftware Instagram account has started posting a lot of pictures of the bosses, specifically the trophy icons for the Demigods. But what's interesting about this is that they haven't posted anything since the game came out and so the question is just "Why Now?". Almost an entire year of zero posts whatsoever and then three just seemingly out of nowhere, so personally we find that very interesting these types of things don't seem to just happen randomly, we mean they didn't even make a post for winning the game of the year, literally zero since the game came out now. We think there's some logic to the marketing here, especially since it's a series of three posts.

What gives us confidence is when we put everything we've been talking about altogether, the Elden Ring DLC 2023 is coming soon and brings us huge brand new content! Stay tuned!
