During this phase, you can experience a new dungeon, play through a new questline and even level up a Dracthyr Evoker. Besides that, you'll also be able to participate in something called Elemental invasions which are basically the main event of the pre-patch. So let's talk about that.

WoW Dragonflight Pre-Patch Phase 2 Guide - Release Date, Events, New Dungeon, Quests & More

World of Warcraft newest expansion is almost upon us! Phase 2 is coming next reset bringing with it the Primal Invasions of Azeroth, with new rewards to work for, the Dracthyr Evokers will finally be playable for everyone who's purchased the Dragonflight Expansion, as well as the new dungeon, revamped Ulduman: legacy of Tyr! This is the meaty pre-patch we need!

WoW Dragonflight Pre-Patch Phase 2 Start Date

The Dragonflight prepatch is coming tomorrow on November 15th, 2022 for North America and the 16th for everybody else. So this is where we get into the real meat of the pre-patch with the two big new additions.

Dragonflight Pre-Patch Events & Primal Storms

Elemental Invasions

First of all, we’ve got the Primal Invasions now, the expansions these days usually do have some invasion for the pre-patch and this one is the primal storm, like elemental invasions happening at the Northern Barrens, the Badlands, Tirisfal Glades, and Un’Goro Crater. It will stay off for about 2 hours and the invasions can be one of four elements. Earth Firestorm and water, depending on which one it is it will alter the Invasion and empower the enemies in that area with that specific element. Now killing these empowered enemies will give you a chance to get 252 item level gear and a new currency called Primeval Essence. You can actually keep farming this currency while the invasions are up, so you can get a full set of 252 item level gear pretty quickly. You can buy stuff like necklaces, weapons, trinkets and even a brand new toy with this new currency in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. While these invasions are up, you will also see a boss spawn every now and then. But before you can attack it, hundred enemies need to be killed in that area. Don't worry, you don't have to kill 100 enemies on your own. The reason why you want to kill the bosses is for more of the new currency.

Unstable Elemental Confluence, Heirloom Trinket

They will also have a chance to drop Dimmed Primal Earth, Firestorm and Water. You can also get a new heirloom trinket that you can use between level 1 and 49. You'll need to collect these four items that have a chance to drop from each of the different types of Elemental Invasion bosses. Although it isn't a guaranteed drop from each boss, these items are account bound to so you can trade them around if you need to if you've been doing this on alts. In order to get the four items on one card character to then create the trinket. Now there are reports that the items that you need to create the trinket that can drop from other mobs in the invasions too, but the drop chance is likely a lot lower than it is of the bosses. The trinket is actually a decent level in trinket to be fair, so it is worth getting this if you enjoy leveling up or if you know you're going to be leveling any new characters anytime soon. You won't be able to get this once the invasion ends, so it's worth just going and getting this while it's active.

Against the Elements, Feat of Strength

You can also get a new feat of strength achievement called Against the Elements for defeating the different types of invasions in the different zones which shouldn’t be too challenging to do.

New Questline

When you log in after this Phase 2 of the pre-patch goes live, you'll get a quest to go and speed some guys, just follow the quest along, you'll get a quick questline that introduces you to the elemental invasions and you can collect 10 items from one of the zones. So head over to any of the invasions to complete this quest.

When you go into a Zone with an invasion active, there's usually four Primal storms locations active at once, but only one will be the main one where the boss will eventually spawn. The spawn times of the actual bosses themselves are said to be around every 30 minutes and the invasions themselves last around two hours. The boss will spawn at the main portal in the Invasion Zone and be protected by a shield, so what you need to do is just defeat enemies in the Invasion Zone to remove the shield and then the boss becomes active while all the other mobs become inactive. You can see a difference on your map when the boss has spawned, but the site usually has more portals and things going on compared to the others, so just find the busiest site with all the things going on and that will be eventually where the boss will spawn. So you can just hang around and kill mobs there.

So for the quest, you can still collect the amounts of Primal energy from the mobs around any of the areas even when the boss isn't currently active and even after it's been defeated. And you can also farm the currency primeval Essence off the normal mobs if you wish to do so. And it's this currency that you're used to buy the catch-up gear.

New Class/Spec - Dracthyr Evokers

The second major thing coming with phase 2 of the Dragonflight pre-patch is the Dracthyr Evokers. So you'll finally be able to spend 6 hours in the character creation screen making one of these for yourself and then go and enjoy the new starting zone experience on the Forbidden reach. Then you can start to get used to the new class and it's two specs, preservation and devastation and wreak some destructation upon the nation. So you can start to get the hang of its new specs and all the talents for that and try and figure out if there's a class that you're going to want to main going into dragonfly for real.

Note: Dracthyr do feel very squishy, you'll probably be fine in the starting zone as you're going to have loads of other people doing the quest at the same time, so it might not be something that you notice straight away until you get into any kind of solo content. But when you do get into some solo content, you might find that pulling two or more mobs is a struggle. The gear from quests early on felt really low item well compared to what it kind of needed to be. So as soon as you get out of the starting zone, you might want to begin gearing up to get yourself at a decent eye level to enter the expansion on launch day to give yourself a bit of an advantage when you question.

You will be absolutely fine in any group content because you're going to have a tank and a healer unless you're the healer supporting you and the damage is quite strong from the Evokers, so it feels decent to play as well. So it will probably take some time to get used to the empowered spells for example, but just enjoy yourself and get used to the new class.

New Dungeon - Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr

Another big thing coming in the second phase of the pre-patch is the brand new Uldaman dungeon: Legacy of Tyr. This dungeon will drop 278 item level which is way better than 252 that you can get from the invasions, just make sure to pick up a quest called Legacy of Tyr before you make your way into the dungeon because this quest will give you a 278 weapon which is amazing.
