Dragonflight Tank Tier List - What Are The Best Tank Class In WOW Dragonflight?

How are Dragonflight best tanks being ranked and what aspects are important to make them a meta tank in Mythic plus? If you ever walk into a Mythic plus dungeon, you will most likely have a Healer in your group. Jump off your healers to keep everyone alive and compensate everyone walking accidentally into a void zone even though they shouldn't. If not, they will provide additional DPS to your group to maximize your group's efficiency. Group efficiency is the most important factor for the tank of your choice. An efficient tank provides the most amount of damage has a certain level of cell sustain and provides a decent amount of group utility. 

S Tier On Dragonflight Tank Tier List

Warrior

Warrior is the best WOW Dragonflight tank class. At the start of the beta, Warrior tanks have been so extremely powerful. People have been running dungeons with five Warriors tanks instead of bringing a damage dealer into the group. Blizzard brought the Warrior back in line with all the tanks and today Warrior tanks are looking still pretty awesome. Warriors will be used as our Benchmark today. If you compare this talent tree with other classes, you will immediately see how straightforward it is it feels and looks. We have been skilling every single talent available to us, we avoided survivability gain on the right side whenever using the last stand and avoided survivability gain on the left side with a demoralizing shout. Otherwise, it looks like we picked up everything.

Simplicity level 10 out of 10. Damage of Warriors is extremely strong with anger management reducing the cooldown of the avatar way too fast, fueled by an insane rage game with blood surge. Warriors can perform really strong in almost every trash pack you progress through in your dungeon. Warriors can now offer the group multiple abilities as a utility. Warriors will provide an attack power buff which will be pretty useful whenever you run with other physical attackers.  Fire Druids are still going to be op. Havoc and Windwalkers remain extremely powerful in dungeons as well. You really want to have the additional attack power that the Warriors can now also provide for the talent tree is an unbreakable will.

We have seen certain dungeons causing extreme damage to your party and the shield wall is going to be an insanely strong utility for your group. 50% off the shield wall effect will be granted to all party members meaning a 20% damage reduction with two charges. The combination of high damage output, the newfound self-sustain due to bleeding effects, healing the warrior indomitable, healing the warrior for 3% each time they just use revenge. The group utility it provides we have to give the Warrior the S tier ranking on this WoW: Dragonflight Tank tier list.

Demon Hunter

Demon Hunter talent trees are pretty interesting we felt that the fiery brand and all other attached talents on the right side were focused too strongly on single-target survivability. But we really enjoyed the combination of two covenant abilities, the elysian degree and the hunt in a combination of collective anguish dealing heavy damage overall. Demon Hunters are just a little damaged short of Paladin, ranking it on 32 000DPS. In all the dungeons, the utility of Demon Hunters really shines. Azure board packs those flowers at the start that will murder your group if not interrupted. With a signal of silence, misery, and potentially a mass grip with the signal of chains, Demon Hunters have a great toolkit on their hands.

If the DPS meta shifts towards more casters, the 5% damage buff they provide is going to make a huge impact on group efficiency. With being pretty resistant towards magic damage due to their talents, the self-sustain is pretty great. Demon Hunter has been performing as the strongest thing for now which already made a huge impact on Death Knight's efficiency during Shadowland. With all this said we have to rank the Demon Hunter just shortly behind Warriors and give them the S tier, one of the best Tanks in Dragonflight.

A Tier On Dragonflight Best Tank Rank

Paladin

Yet Paladins felt really sad for us one of the biggest joys we had during Shadowland season 4 where the ability to run the tank Paladin as a healer keeping himself and his teammates alive throughout the dungeon. This is gone with the removal of the holy power game from the avenger's shield. Initially, we thought it wouldn't impact it too much, but then quickly realized how strong of a game changer this was. With 29000 damage over the dungeon, it lands in the middle between Warrior and Druid. 

Otherwise with a way higher damage output, great cooldown recovery throughout their talent tree and even though pretty niche utility like handle freedom, the blessing of protection and sacrifice, and now even a common dress, we are giving the Paladins an A Tier ranking on this World of Warcraft Dragonflight tank tier list. Paladins could potentially become an insanely strong tank for raids and remains a strong pick from if A plus.

Death Knight

The most recent meta spec during Shadowland season 3 and 4 performs and without a question Death Knights pack an insane amount of self-sustain. Even tested Death Knights on a Mythic boss solo on its own, Death Knights will be sustaining it with no issue. But it's really important to note, just because a Death Knight can self-sustain him without the healer, you would still pack a healer in your group. Bringing a tank like a Warrior would take a bit more heal on the side but instead provides more damage on the Death Knight, this would rank the Death Knight's efficiency way lower. 

The DK ranked in a 28000 DPS overall at the end of the dungeon, second damage was also not looking great either. The self-sustained, mass scripts and combat dresses make us still rank blood Death Knights below Warriors, but higher than Druids. We currently cannot see how Death Knights with a massive nerf to shattering bones can compete in damage in utility with Warriors and Demon Hunters but the self-sustain gives it a wealthy ranking next to the Paladins on the A Tier.

B Tier On Dragonflight Tank Ranking

Druid

Initially hyped Guardian Druids have lost their Glory. Guardian Druid talent trees offer some new ways to play. Finally, you can use maul and bring it back out of your spellbook. Or we go for Laser Druid and we haven't had much hope for this build, but it worked extremely well. With arcane damage granting you 30% of the damage done, procking instant moon fires on enemies that even affect a second target. This build has been pushing our experience with Druid's way up. Initially, we saw Guardian Druids on the lowest end with 26000 damage but we increased it to even almost 30000 as a Laser Guardian. Survivability didn't take a huge block all with our arcane damage matching the heal of Ozark's Fury remember? 

We cannot give Druids the same ranking as Warriors due to the big difference in utility, instead of an initial C tier ranking, we give Guardian Druids a solid B-plus because the lack of utility might be a big deal breaker. In comparison to other tanks that we will still have to talk about, they're going to be some better options available, especially being limited to your three-minute cooldowns to do big ports. We cannot give the Druid A tier.

Monk

Monk is clearly lacking a bit of everything right now. It grants a 5% damage spell for physical damage and has an awesome utility that will bring peace to paralyzed AOE stun but it didn't feel quite right yet. With 27600 damage on average at the end of the dungeon Monk ranking in quite average damage with Death Knights and Paladins. The talent tree could offer a more significant damage increase but our self-sustain was not sufficient enough. The resonant fists in the general Monk tree and found that it has performed at 22% of our overall damage. 

This seems quite too strong and could potentially see enough in the future, but that shouldn't be our current measurement. Due to its bigger damage and Guardian Druids, a packing weigh more utility than them it doesn't feel right to put them in the same ranking as Guardian Druids. So we put them into the B tier below Paladins and Death Knights.

Bear in mind that Blizzard has now ended the design phase of classes and begun the tuning phase. The talent system allows Blizzard to tweak around certain niches for Tanks as they could easily improve Druid's singer target damage by buffing the more talents. For monks with some tuning on defensive talents, you could also see their self-sustain rising significantly. All these Dragonflight best tanks could change in a matter of days.
