Rocket League Ceiling Pinch Guide - Learn Ceiling Pinch At 3 Levels In Rocket League

The ceiling pinch is definitely one of those mechanics that a lot of players haven't really practiced. Because how often do you see someone even go for a ceiling pinch in a ranked match. Thanks to great Youtuber Wayton Pilkin, there is the best Rocket League ceiling pinch tutorial to start your journey toward mastering the ceiling pinch mechanic. It turns out it's a lot easier and more useful than you ever could have expected. There are three levels to this process that have helped you get from having no expertise at all to winning an online-rated match using our Rocket League ceiling pinch tutorial.

Rocket League Ceiling Pinch Level 1 - Freeplay

The first thing most players did was immediately just start trying to score them. It was hard, you didn't really know what you were doing. Probably you were getting a couple of little baby pinches but obviously, that's not what we're going for. Here we're hunting for these absolute laser beams. Just trying for a couple of minutes and pretty soon after starting, you will get the first hint of what we're actually looking for. So up the wall, try to go fast, and you will get the first successful ceiling pinch. Focus on getting the pinch no matter where it goes consistently and then get the placement afterward. If you try to test it out in custom training, the truth is it will be a lot harder than normal. Because you don’t have as much space for a big run-up, so couldn't easily bring it up to the ceiling. When you are able to get ceiling pinch consistently and pull this off in a real game, it was time to move on to level 2.

Rocket League Ceiling Pinch Level 2 - Private Match

For level 2 it was time to try it out with a limited boost. You can go into a private match with a few different people that is knew were good at ceiling pinches. Then you can go back and forth taking turns going for ceiling pinches. Even if you mess it up, you can still turn it into like a decent shot. You need to be less afraid to use a lot of boost on the ground. The limited amount of boost wasn't actually a big issue, you don't need that much boost in order to pull it off which makes it a really good alternative to air dribbles. The real part that made level 2 harder was the fact that you couldn't just do attempt after attempt. Your momentum was stalled by taking turns with whoever you were playing with. So it was definitely a lot more realistic and a big step closer to pulling it off in a real competitive match.

At this point in the learning process, you will highly regret not learning this Rocket League ceiling pinch mechanic sooner. The ceiling pinch was way easier than it actually looked. At first, after just a couple of days of practice, you will be able to do stuff consistently. And on top of that, it clearly had its competitive uses. Right now almost no one is really doing them, so no one is really prepared for them on defense. This is extremely useful in counterattacks and situations in general to establish pressure.

Rocket League Ceiling Pinch Level 3 - Ranked

The real test would be trying it out in an actual ranked match. What you will quickly realize during, trying to force these ceiling pinch setups to happen was extremely predictable. Especially against teams that liked to stay very near the ball all game, it made it extremely hard to set up opportunities that weren't there naturally. The number of natural opportunities we got was heavily dependent on the play style of our opponents. Because their play styles just didn't allow for those types of goals. The best strategy for giving you the most real chances was to just play completely normally and take advantage of the opportunities when they presented themselves. Against some play styles, there are almost no opportunities all game. Against others, there were multiple good chances. It was all a roll of the dice when it came to that. There were definitely times when going for a ceiling pinch made complete sense it was better than any other option.

You can also try it in 1v1. Going for ceiling pinches and ones was easier in some ways but a lot harder in others. Especially after a demo, they're like already back in the net. Again the playstyle you are up against is a massive factor in how easy it would be to do ceiling pinch in Rocket League. Ceiling pitches make a lot more sense competitively in 2v2 and 3v3, but 1v1 seemed to be where you had the most space for it. Eventually, you will stop caring completely about the scoreline and start focusing entirely on your main objective.

After days of practice, you managed to go from little to no experience with ceiling pinches to pulling one-off in a competitive-ranked match. It may have taken you a while to get it or may have d-ranked a just for one shot. Lastly, if you need to buy Rocket League Credits, Aoeah.com sells cheap and reliable RL Credits with huge stock!
