As mentioned there are 8 different katanas in Elden Ring, the Uchigatana, the Nagakiba, the Serpentbone Blade, the Meteoric Ore Blade, the Moonveil, the Rivers of Blood, the Dragonscale Blade, and Hand of Malenia. They are all fantastic weapons, some of which are very customizable, like Uchigatana and the Nagakiba allowing you to apply your own ashes of war. Some of them have fantastic weapon skills that quite literally will destroy bosses. 1. Elden Ring Uchigatana

Uchigatana is the first katana you will encounter in the Elden Ring. If you start as a samurai, you begin with one of these. If you do not then you can still obtain one. This has a strength requirement of 11 a dex requirement of 15 by default, primary scaling index followed by strength. This one allows you to apply your own ash of war. By default, the katanas do come with the unsheathed skill which in and of itself is incredibly potent, you sheath your sword at your hip and you then either perform a normal or a strong attack to perform a swift unsheathed attack, which does dish out a good degree of damage. But again the customization here, the ability to apply different things will make this a fantastic pick. It does come with natural blood loss build up.

If you didn't begin life as a samurai and you want to get one of these, you simply need to turn your attention to the death touched catacombs and you simply need to go inside. You will not need to work your way to the end, it is quite simple. You just simply run in run down the stairs, ignore the door, to begin with, and take a left. Then when you drop off the ledge, you are able to spin around and take a sort of a pathway. Going through there, you then take a left, you come up the other side and there is a dead body hanging on a ledge that is where you'll find your Uchigatana.

2. Elden Ring Nagakiba

If however, he is not there, it is most likely because you have already obtained the reduvia blood blade which is done in the lake just the north. If you do not have an NPC here to begin the quest, from there, you simply need to go north up this lake. Upon doing so, there will be a spawn, you'll be invaded by a bloody finger near. 

Upon doing that, you will then get the reduvia bloodblade dagger which is also a very nice weapon. If however you've already done that, that will be the reason that Yura would not have appeared in the original location from there you then continue north, you go up between the rocks and then to the right you will see him. You will then speak to him and he will then send you on your next quest. From there, you will then need to have access to the glintstone academy. If you have not already got the key, don't forget you go to grab the key.

From there, you can then work your way up towards the castle and you can then use this to gain entrance to the academy. What you want to do is turn to the right and ignore the next sort of portal door, run behind it and you'll then find a summon sign. This will allow you to go and assist Yura, you then go into that and defeat the person. He is battling upon doing so and upon completing that, you then have a conversation with him and he will then send you north to your next location. 

This will be in the altas plateau, you will then go from the ground lift of dectus and you want to work your way up towards the church. Once you get here, you will then find that he is dead on the floor or at least in a sort of almost dead state. When you speak to him, he will give you the Nagakiba.

3. Meteoric Ore Blade

This is a katana that scales primarily with strength and intellect first with dex being the third stat. Requirements for this one are 15 strength, 14 decks, and 18 intellect. These two causes blood loss build up, but this also has the skill of gravitas which of course is the skill where you thrust the element into the ground and you create a gravity well. This in addition to dealing damage will also pull enemies in which can be useful for interrupting some of their attacks.

Location

If you want to get this one yourself, then you need to head over to Calid. If you're doing this from the very beginning of the game, you can teleport over here. You want to work your way over to the Calid waypoint ruins and then from there, you simply need to work your way down the staircase to go into the room. You want to avoid some of the enemies and you then open the door at the very end, go inside open the chest and that will give you the meteoric ore blade.

4. Moonveil

Moonveil katana is a fantastic weapon for intellect users. For those of you that want to blade alongside your magical abilities, then this is the one for you. it has a strength requirement of 12 dex requirement of 18 and an intellect requirement of 23 with primary scaling in intellect. It has a fantastic unique skill transient moonlight where you shoot the blade at your side and then depending on whether you perform a normal or a strong attack. When you draw the blade, you send out this wave of light that does great damage.

Location

Head over to the Gael Tunnel and you quite simply need to work your way to the very end of the tunnel and you will then need to defeat the boss that is in this sort of dungeon. Depending on where you are in the game, this will either be easier for you or tougher. Location

Go over to the snowy region in the later portion of the game. Work your way over to the Church of Repose. Upon approaching the church for the first time, you will then be invaded, you will simply need to battle and defeat this invader and upon doing so, you will then be awarded not only the sword which is the main thing we want. But also the ocular mask which is also pretty sweet.

6. Dragon Scale Blade

Dragon scale blade has a dex requirement of 20, and a strength requirement of 12. This one does not have natural blood loss build up, but it does have the fancy unique weapon skill, ice lightning sword where you cool down a bolt of lightning into the blade and bring it down upon the foe. Following this, the lightning effect then persists on the weapon for a while, so you can dish out both frostbite and lightning with this blade.

Location

Go to the underground, you need to make your way over to the Lake of Rot Shoreside. From that Side of Grace, you need to work your way down you need to go into the middle of the nasty lake of rock which means dealing with a lot of scarlet rot. Once you get to the center, you will then find a boss which you will need to defeat, and upon defeating that, you will then be awarded the dragon scale blade.

7. Serpentbone Blade

The serpent bone blade is probably one of the less used ones. But it's still a very nice weapon. This one instead of causing blood loss build up by default causes poison build up. This one has a dex required of 22, a strength requirement of 11, and a primary scaling index. This one comes with the skill of double slash which is a skill of superior swordsmen. You perform a crossing slash attack from a low stance and you can then put repeated inputs in to follow up for additional attacks. Given the speed at which this does attack, it procs the poison debuff pretty quickly. So you have some nice additional ticks of damage on top.

Location

You will need to go through the volcano mana questline, you don't need to complete it, but you do need to get partway through it. The first time you actually get to volcano manner, you'll speak to the NPC there. She will send you on a quest once you join the mana, you can of course then go into the side room. You can go and collect the letter and that'll then send you to a location which will be marked on the map. 

When you go over to this location, you then need to invade the old knights. You need to defeat him and that will then complete the first part of this quest. You will then return to speak to her, she'll give you a reward. You're going to return to that same room to get the second letter. And this is the one that will then send you to a location where you need to do the same thing. You go and invade the opposing NPCs world, defeat them, and upon doing that, you return to volcano manor once again speak to her and she will award you with the serpent bone blade.

8. Hand of Malenia

Hand of melania a fantastic weapon has a high requirement of 48 for dex, a stroke requirement of 16. This is one of the best dex weapons as it causes natural blood loss build-up and it also has the waterfowl dance unique skill, which is the same move that Melania uses to kill everyone else. It is the one where you perform a series of one-footed leaps in the manner of a waterfowl to unleash a swift yet graceful slashing combo and repeated inputs allow for follow-up attacks.

You just need to defeat Melania and you can then take her remembrance back to roundtable hold and you can exchange it for this blade.
