Best Rocket League Mechanics To Learn For Each Rank

9/18/2021 7:02:07 PM

In Rocket League, which is mechanic you should focus on at each rank? Here we breaks down the best mechanics for each levels and go over the different aspects of gameplay across different ranks to help you improve.

Best Mechanics For Bronze Rank - Shooting

There is so much that bronze players need to learn, but so little that they can actually learn when first starting off, there is no way we can approach a new player and tell them to work on something like bounce dribbles or their double touches, so for bronze players, you should be focusing on your shooting.

Now the aim of this game when it comes down to it is to score more goals than your opponent that's how you win, and considering some of the harder mechanics a little bit out of reach, we strip it down to one of the absolute fundamentals of the game - working on your shooting and overall accuracy are key to improving in this game, and no matter what rank you are, they will have a massive impact on how your games will go.

For bronze level players, a small training routine is suggested here: go through the three custom packs that sounded provides in the tutorial section making sure that your focus is hitting the ball and having it go where you want it to, try to push yourself to reset the shot if the ball doesn't go where you want it to, this is going to train your accuracy but you have to be hard on yourself. After those three packs go into ones and focus everything on hitting the ball with power.

Obviously, you are trying to score as well, but trying to put as much power as you can behind the ball while also training accuracy is going to set you up very well in the future for when you are shooting, passing, clearing, redirecting, pretty much everything. Power and accuracy come across almost all things in this game but can easily be trained through shooting.

Best Mechanics For Silver Rank - Aerials

Aerials are the mechanics to focus for silver rank, because it seems that players are coming into this game with one thing on their mind they want to fly. The second you start to understand what you need to do in order to get into the air the whole game changes up, suddenly you can score shots from above instead of just rolling them along the ground and hoping they go in.

The easiest way to learn how to aerial is to go into free play, head to the center of the field, jump, tilt your car back and then .

Aerials are about knowing when to go for the ball and how to hit the ball when you get there, once you understand the basics of how to actually get into the air, you need to work on controlling it. The way we recommend this for silver players is to try out some of the aerial training packs that are in the tutorial section and work on hitting the stationary ball. This forces you to learn to control your along the way and how to make slight movements with your car while in the air, those are the only two aspects of aerials that you need to focus on at this rank - air rolling can be learned afterwards but requires a lot of training to learn and so we recommend bringing into your training sessions once you're comfortable with control and smaller movements while in the air.

Best Mechanics For Gold Rank - Dribbling & Flicks

Around the gold level, we suggest people start training their dribbling and flicks, this is about the time when people can comfortably fly and make solid contact with the ball, but where people tend to forget that that isn't the only way to play. Developing a strong ground game is crucial to giving yourself a variety of shots to work with and making your gameplay unpredictable

The way that we recommend training dribbling and flicks is a combination:

Step 1 - To dribble the ball around the field first with only using . Then without , then with both acceleration and , this allows you to understand when you need to use to speed up or control your dribble and when you can just drive. We also suggest trying not to make too many small adjustments left and right when you're first learning as this is going to make your first steps towards dribbling much harder.

Step 2 - Try flick the ball from around the halfway mark and try to score without it bouncing, this pushes you to get more power behind the flick making it more of a threat from different areas on the field

Step 3 - Play ones, we do not care if you hate it is the best game mode to train your ground game in and it can help you with many aspects of your gameplay across the board.

Best Mechanics For Platinum Rank - Recoveries & Car Control

Platinum is where you really need to work on your recoveries and general car control. Platinum is around the level where people start playing on autopilot and kindly just playing instead of focusing on the game, this is because it's kind of at that level where people are actually consistently hitting the ball instead of missing every five seconds. Because of this, people get very comfortable in this back and forth "I hit it, you hit it back" kind of gameplay and they tend to switch off.

1. Don't do that, stay focused and don't autopilot

2. When you do go into this autopilot state, you tend to let yourself get into some bad situations and take time getting out. You might miss a challenge or an aerial and be stuck trying to get back to net or trying to recover when stuck inside the opponent's net, this is why you train general control.

3. Move around the field in free play just focusing on things like wave dashes half flips landing wheels down maintaining momentum, keeping your car from spinning out and making good use of the power slide button.

Doing all this without the ball is a good 5 minute warm up before you jump into some games, but also doing it with the ball makes everything a little bit more challenging. Definitely something to add into your day-to-day training sessions.

Best Mechanics For Diamond Rank - Aerial Control

Diamond is where i have to start really recommending aerial control, this is where you want to really drill your car control while in the air. Now while there are many different ways of going about this but what we do want to quickly cover here is the importance of following a daily routine:

Aerial car control is a massive thing in this game, you genuinely need to learn it and have a solid understanding in order to reach those higher ranks, only training once or twice a week is going to help, but nowhere near as much as training something as simple as 10 minutes a day, even if you just pick up one of the routines from the videos, do 10 minutes and then jump off for the day, it is still 10 minutes more than you would normally do. Repetition is the key to building muscle memory which is the ability to reproduce a particular movement without conscious thought acquired as a result of frequent repetition of that movement.

Aerial movements need to be trained to the point, where you don't have to think about them they happen naturally due to the amount of practice you've put in through repetition.

Best Mechanics For Champ Rank - Passing

At the champ level, we suggest you work on your passing. Now you don't need to be in a pre-made team to pass the ball, your teammates are there for a reason. You have all played this game a decent amount and so you should know when to go for a pass and when not to. Understanding when to use your teammates and when they're in a better position than you are is such a game changer in the higher levels. Everyone wants to be the one that scores but when you actually stop and take a look at the field, you'll see that there are often times where you can secure a better chance of scoring if you just pass the ball to a teammate in space. Now squishy often talks about how he wants to be the best teammate that he can and talks to his team after matches about how he can improve in this aspect:

You should try to take on the same mentality, go into games looking to be the best teammate you can, use your team to your advantage and always ask yourself if passing the ball can benefit your team in any way, you might not be the flashy player you want to become, but you will become the solid team player everyone dreams of having on their team.

To help with this: stay focused on setting your team up, look around using the right analog stick and do whatever you can to put your teammates in good positions, you might find that you think you're playing slower or worse but you are really helping to create opportunities that wouldn't otherwise be there without a simple pass.

Best Mechanic For Grand Champ Rank - Every Mechanic

At the grand champ level pushing into that supersonic legend category, you want to focus well everything, this is getting to some of the highest levels of gameplay. So while it might not be a mechanic, it all comes down to consistency. You don't just want to know how to do things, you want to know how to do things consistently - if the ball goes into the air, you're getting there every single time; if you with a shot, you jump into training and you go over it; if you see aspects of your gameplay that you know you can improve on, break down your replays to look over your mistakes and then make yourself small routines to work on them. Maintaining and increasing your rank around this level simply comes down to understanding that while you might be good at everything you need to be better and so making an effort to improve is going to push you past all those players that get there and then just autopilot the rest of their games.
