WoW Forever DPS Tier List - Best DPS Classes for PvE & PvP

World of Warcraft Forever launches on November 4th with the beta already live since September 17th, and along with the new zones, dungeons, and race combinations comes a massive rework of talent trees that changes the DPS meta. In this WoW Forever Classic+ Tier List, we are going to the strongest DPS classes and specs for both PvE and PvP based on beta testing, BlizzCon showcases, and the datamined talent calculators, so you can pick the right class before servers go live.

WoW Forever DPS Tier List - Best DPS Classes & Specs for PvE & PvP

World of Warcraft Forever arrives on November 4th, with beta access already open since September 17th, and the new classic plus experience brings sweeping talent reworks that redefine what damage dealing looks like at level 60. Nine new dungeons, revamped iconic raids, fresh zones like Mount Hyjal and Riverglades, and the new Skyborn race all headline the launch, but for players chasing the top of the meters or dominating battlegrounds, the real story lives inside the talent trees.

Every class received attention in some form, with some receiving huge power boosts while others got smaller tweaks that still open up fresh playstyles. From the return of penance for smite priests to lava burst for elemental shamans and drain hope for affliction warlocks, the DPS pool in WoW Forever looks deeper than any classic era before it.

The overall state of DPS in WoW Forever leans toward more active rotations, better scaling, and a wider spread of viable specs. Enhancement shamans and warlocks are looking absolutely broken at launch, while classes like feral druids, mages, and rogues bring strong competition. Warriors, though slightly quieter in the previews, historically climb back to the top with gear, and hunters gain fresh melee-weaving potential through survival. Now let's get into which specs actually rank the highest for raiding and dungeons, followed by the top picks for battlegrounds and world PvP.

Best DPS Classes & Specs Ranking for PvE

Before jumping into the rankings, keep in mind that raid parses and dungeon speeds will shift as gear scales, but based on beta talent trees and Blizzcon showcases, the following order reflects the strongest PvE damage dealers at launch.

1. Enhancement Shaman (S Tier)

Enhancement shaman is the undisputed top spec heading into WoW Forever. It received a personal Bloodlust called Rage of the Farseer that boosts melee attack and spell cast speed by 30% for 25 seconds. Two-handed specialization is now built in, and Maelstrom Weapon provides free instant Lightning Bolts on demand. Guzu was seen absolutely destroying with enhancement shaman on the main stage at BlizzCon, and the talent tree just keeps delivering value from top to bottom.

2. Affliction Warlock (S Tier)

Affliction warlocks are eating well thanks to the confirmation that damage over time abilities can now critically strike. Pandemic increases the critical strike damage bonus of Corruption, Bane of Agony, Bane of Doom, Drain Soul, Drain Life, Siphon Life, and the new Drain Hope by 100%. Drain Hope acts as a channel that increases all other shadow damage over time on the target by 10%. When Drain Soul damages targets below 20% health, the bonus is tripled, turning it into a proper execute channel.

3. Demonology Warlock (S Tier)

Demonology got one of the coolest reworks in the game through Demonic Pact, which allows Demonic Sacrifice to remain active even after summoning a different demon. That means you can sacrifice an imp for 15% shadow damage, then summon a succubus and keep both bonuses at once. Pair that with the fact that pets now scale with your gear and demonology becomes a legitimate raid contender.

4. Survival Hunter (Melee) (A Tier)

Survival melee hunter was one of the most talked about specs at BlizzCon and for good reason. Lacerating Strikes causes Mongoose Bite to bleed the target for 40% of the damage dealt over 21 seconds, and Strider Kick provides a powerful 100% weapon damage melee ability every 8 seconds. Mongoose Bite can now be activated by simply attacking the target, and the scaling looks fantastic.

5. Elemental Shaman (A Tier)

Just looking at the elemental talent tree tells you this spec is going to be strong. Lava Burst is now in the game with a 10-second cooldown, dealing 20% increased damage when Flame Shock is on the target. Lightning Overload gives Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning a chance to cast a second copy of the spell, and instant Fire Nova Totem removes the clunky drop-and-activate mechanic.

6. Feral Druid (Cat) (A Tier)

Feral druid received Berserk, which causes Mangle to strike up to three targets and removes its cooldown while boosting the critical strike chance of combo point generating abilities by 100%. King of the Jungle grants an instant 60 energy through Tiger's Fury, and Mangle appears to be bear-only in the current build. Power shifting seems to be gone, which simplifies the rotation but doesn't hurt damage output as much as people feared.

7. Fire and Arcane Mage (A Tier)

Mages have two strong builds worth considering. The arcane build now has Arcane Blast that stacks up to four times, increasing all other spell damage by 10% per stack, along with Missile Barrage for faster arcane missile channels. The fire build brings back Hot Streak, though it now reduces Pyroblast cast time by 25% per stack up to three, instead of granting an instant cast. Combustion builds pair well with hot streak procs for big burst windows in dungeons.

8. Combat and Assassination Rogue (A Tier)

Rogues are up in the air, but the tried-and-true mutilate assassination build looks like the winner overall thanks to Venom, which increases poison damage by 30% and applies chance by 10% as a finisher. Combat also gets some love with Restless Blades reducing Adrenaline Rush, Blade Flurry, Evasion, Sprint, and Vanish cooldowns by 2 seconds per combo point on damaging finishers. Combat also gets a baseline silence on Improved Kick.

9. Balance Druid (Boomkin) (B Tier)

This is the best version of Boomkin classic has ever seen. Eclipse promotes using Wrath to reduce the cast time of your next two Starfires by 0.17 seconds, and the tree brings plenty of increased damage and critical strike talents. It lacks the flashy Starfall and Starsurge gimmicks, but the raw damage numbers are solid.

10. Shadow Priest (B Tier)

Shadow Priest received a huge Shadowform rework that increases shadow damage by 10%, reduces the mana cost of all shadow spells by 50%, and increases the critical strike damage bonus of shadow spells by 100%. Devouring Plague is now baseline for all priests. The main question is how shadow priest compares in a game where every class is getting stronger simultaneously.

11. Fury and Arms Warrior (B Tier)

Warriors quietly received changes that reshape their rotation. Slam moved to the arms tree and no longer interrupts melee swing timing, opening up a proper slam warrior playstyle. Fury gets Raging Blows, causing Whirlwind to also strike with the off-hand weapon, and Dual Wield Specialization received massive buffs including 25% off-hand damage, 100% off-hand rage generation, and 10% off-hand hit chance. Warriors always end up strong once gear catches up.

12. Retribution and Holy Shockadin Paladin (B Tier)

Retribution paladin gains Twist of Light, which automates seal twisting by granting an echo of the replaced seal on your next melee attack. Holy Shockadin also has a real shot at viability through Lights Vigil, which allows a second holy shock cast with no cooldown on the target.

13. Destruction Warlock and BM/Marksmanship Hunter (B Tier)

Destruction warlock feels underwhelming compared to affliction and demonology, with Incinerate replacing where players expected Chaos Bolt. Beast Mastery hunter received the Summon Hawk ability that shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot, but pet scaling still needs verification. Marksmanship gets Sniper Shot as a new ability that increases range damage by 160 with a 4-second cast, giving it a distinct playstyle but not enough to challenge the top tier.

Best DPS Classes & Specs Ranking for PvP

Turning to the battleground and world PvP side, the ranking shifts based on burst potential, mobility, and crowd control access.

1. Affliction and Demonology Warlock (S Tier)

Warlocks in PvP are going to be even worse than in classic, which is saying something. Affliction stacks dots that can now crit, uses Drain Soul as an execute below 20% health, and separates Bane of Agony from the curse category so warriors can no longer complain about curse of recklessness uptime. Demonology brings Soul Link plus Demonic Pact, allowing warlocks to keep multiple sacrifice buffs while still having a pet out, which pairs perfectly with the reported metamorphosis spell that was leaked at BlizzCon.

2. Subtlety Rogue (S Tier)

Subtlety rogue looks incredibly strong for PvP thanks to Thousand Cuts, which reduces the energy cost of your next Hemorrhage or Backstab by 3 stacking up to 5 times when Rupture ticks. Dirty Deeds removes the behind-target requirement for Garrote, and Cutthroat gives Backstab a chance to cause your next Ambush to not require stealth. The burst window combined with Rupture bleeds makes sub a nightmare to deal with.

3. Frost and Arcane Mage (S Tier)

Frost mage still dominates PvP with Ice Barrier, Ice Block, Cold Snap, and Fingers of Frost giving your Chill effects a 15% chance to grant free casts. Arcane Power on the arcane side provides 30% increased spell damage for 15 seconds, giving mages another burst option. Slow Fall equivalents on Skyborn mages add even more mobility utility.

4. Enhancement Shaman (A Tier)

Enhancement's personal Bloodlust from Rage of the Farseer translates directly into PvP burst windows, and the Storm Strike rework gives enhancement 20% increased nature damage on the target for 12 seconds. Improved Storm Strike also has a 50% chance to reset the cooldown on dodge or parry, feeding into constant pressure.

5. Feral Druid (Cat) (A Tier)

Feral druids are natural PvP monsters and the Berserk rework gives them a fear immunity clear, which is huge for peel. Alliance ferals with Night Elf Elune's Light and Skyborn ferals both benefit from the new burst racials. The mobility and crowd control tools make feral one of the most annoying classes to fight.

6. Survival Hunter (A Tier)

Survival hunter's PvP kit is stacked. Entrapment now roots all affected targets for 5 seconds every time a trap triggers, Improved Wing Clip gives a 21% chance to immobilize for 5 seconds, and Counterattack immobilizes for another 5 seconds after a parry. Combined with Scatter Shot, Freezing Trap, and Concussive Shot, survival has more crowd control tools than any other spec.

7. Shadow Priest (A Tier)

Shadow Priest gains massive PvP value from the Shadowform rework and from Silence now functioning as an interrupt. Devouring Plague being baseline for all priests removes the old Undead-only advantage, and Vampiric Embrace paired with the new self-sustain talents makes shadow priests hard to burn down.

8. Fury and Arms Warrior (A Tier)

Warriors receive some sneaky-good PvP talents. Improved Berserker Rage has a 100% chance at two points to remove all movement impairing effects, essentially giving warriors a root break. Iron Will reduces stun and fear duration, Dual Wield Specialization stacks 10% hit, and Death Wish makes warriors immune to fear during its duration.

9. Retribution Paladin (B Tier)

Retribution paladin's burst window gets a boost from Twist of Light and the new instant attack Judgment mechanic. Human Ret with Sword Spec is going to hit hard, and the extra survivability from Templar's Bulwark makes them tough to burn down.

10. Balance Druid (B Tier)

Boomkin has better damage than any prior classic version, and the new arcane-nature Balance of Nature talent creates a natural rhythm of switching spells for damage bonuses. Combined with roots, Cyclone-equivalent utility, and Innervate, boomkin offers strong casting pressure.

11. Combat and Assassination Rogue (B Tier)

Combat rogue gains a blanket silence on kick that mirrors warrior interrupts, and Restless Blades keeps cooldowns rolling in extended fights. Assassination rogues benefit from the new poison-focused Venom finisher, but Sub still edges them out for PvP burst.

12. BM/Marksmanship Hunter and Destruction Warlock (C Tier)

BM hunter still has intimidation stuns and pet damage but doesn't compare to the survival PvP kit. Marksmanship's Sniper Shot is powerful, but the 4-second cast makes it easy to counter. Destruction warlock has strong Pyrolasm stuns and Bane of Havoc for cleave pressure, but affliction and demonology just do more.

WoW Forever gives every DPS spec at least one strong playstyle option, which is a huge win compared to classic where several specs were essentially unplayable in raids. The beta going live on September 17th will give players a real chance to test these talents in dungeons and PvP scenarios, and rankings could shift as scaling reveals itself.

Keep in mind that racial choices, gear scaling, and world buffs (if included) will all play a role in the final meta at launch on November 4th. Pick the spec that looks fun to play rather than chasing whatever tops parses in the first month, because balance patches are almost guaranteed to arrive as Blizzard fine-tunes the game.
