How To Get Doom Weapons, Dark Ages Currency & Doom Chest in Diablo 4 Season 12?

Diablo 4's Season 12, also known as the Season of Slaughter, launched on March 11, 2026, and brought with it a limited-time DOOM: The Dark Ages collaboration. This crossover event gives Diablo 4 players the chance to earn a collection of free cosmetic rewards themed after DOOM: The Dark Ages, including glowing red Crucible weapon transmogs, iconic weapon skins, and even a town portal. This guide covers everything you need to know about the DOOM: The Dark Ages Reliquary, and how to farm Dark Ages Currency, Doom Chests, and Crucible weapons during the event.

Diablo 4 Free Doom: The Dark Ages Reliquary Event in Season 12

As part of the Diablo 4 x DOOM Collaboration, the DOOM: The Dark Ages Reliquary features free weapon cosmetics based on the DOOM games. This Reliquary is completely free, meaning you do not have to buy the other Reliquary in order to access the collab one. It functions similarly to how the Berserk collab did in a previous season. Players collect a new currency that drops from enemies, then spend that currency to claim DOOM: The Dark Ages cosmetic items from the Reliquary. On top of that, slaying Lair Bosses has the chance to drop a DOOM chest, containing unique DOOM Crucible transmogs found only in these chests, reskinning players' existing weapons to match the glowing red blade wielded by the DOOM Slayer. Players can also secure free emblems via Diablo IV's in-game Shop to show their conviction for demon slaying.

Diablo 4 Doom The Dark Ages Dates & Time

The DOOM: The Dark Ages Event Reliquary released alongside Season 12 on March 11, 2026, and will expire 46 days later on April 26, 2026, just days before the release of the upcoming Lord of Hatred Expansion. As this is a limited-time event, this is the only period where you can obtain the rewards from this Reliquary and purchase the other premium cosmetics tied to the collaboration event in the shop.

In addition to the Reliquary and Doom Chests, there are free emblems available in the in-game Shop on specific dates. Check the dates below to ensure you collect them all:

  • March 11 – "Dark Before the Dawn"

  • March 13 – "Grandeur of the Gutted"

  • March 15 – "Rip and Tear"

Where Is the Doom Dark Ages Reliquary & How To Join?

The DOOM: The Dark Ages Event Reliquary can be found by pressing its corresponding tab in the Reliquaries menu. Specifically, the DOOM tab is up top next to the Battle Pass tab. Since it is an Event Reliquary, it does not appear in the standard Reliquary menu, so make sure to check it out and claim the rewards once you have collected enough Dark Ages Currency.

You do not need to purchase anything to participate. The Reliquary is free, though the DOOM Slayer Armor sets sold in the in-game Shop are separate paid cosmetics and are not earnable via gameplay. The free Reliquary rewards and Doom Chest transmogs, however, are available to all players who participate in the event during the Season of Slaughter.

The Doom Chests and Dark Ages Currency work on both Seasonal and Eternal characters. Players have confirmed that they were able to farm all five Crucible weapon transmogs from Eternal bosses with characters from previous seasons, and the transmogs transfer over to Seasonal characters as well. Transmogs are account-wide and shared across Softcore and Hardcore modes.

Diablo 4 Doom The Dark Ages Reliquary Rewards & Cost

The Reliquary contains a series of weapon cosmetics and other items, each costing a set amount of Dark Ages Currency. Here is the full list of Reliquary rewards and their costs:

  • Slayer's Flail (Flail) – Cost: 50

  • Shield Saw (Shield) – Cost: 50

  • Dreadmace (Mace) – Cost: 50

  • Chainshot Staff (Staff) – Cost: 75

  • Pulverizer (Two-Handed Mace) – Cost: 75

  • Ballistic Force Crossbow (Crossbow) – Cost: 75

  • Impaler (Quarterstaff) – Cost: 75

  • Head of the Cyberdemon (Back Trophy) – Cost: 100

  • Font of the Slayer (Headstone) – Cost: 25

If you manage to get enough currency and claim all the rewards, you will earn the last tier and obtain a free Forsaken Gates Town Portal on top of it. This is the highest reward you can get for free during this event. Based on community reports, you need a total of roughly 1,000 Dark Ages Currency to complete the entire Reliquary, including the town portal.

What Is Dark Ages Currency?

Dark Ages Currency is a new event-specific currency introduced for the DOOM: The Dark Ages collaboration. It is dropped at random by Elite and Champion monsters when you kill them and is used exclusively to claim cosmetic rewards from the DOOM Event Reliquary. This currency replaces the normal tokens used in the regular and premium Battle Pass Reliquaries for this particular event track.

Dark Ages Currency is not purchased from any shop and cannot be obtained through any means other than killing enemies that qualify as Elites or Champions. It drops in the overworld, in Nightmare Dungeons, and in other game modes where Elites are able to drop loot. However, modes in which Elites are unable to drop loot will not produce any Dark Ages Currency.

How To Farm Dark Ages Currency in Diablo 4 sEASON 12?

Each Elite or Champion monster you kill has a chance to drop one unit of Dark Ages Currency. Based on player reports, only one currency drops per Elite, and difficulty does not appear to affect the drop rate. The most efficient method for farming Dark Ages Currency is to spam Nightmare Dungeons over and over again. During Nightmare Dungeons, you should focus on finishing objectives and clearing every corner to maximize the number of Champion packs you encounter. Avoid going into Horadric portals or doing the events, as those do not contribute as efficiently. Players report earning around 12 currency per Nightmare Dungeon run.

One player noted that they got all the currency needed to complete the Reliquary in about 4 hours of running Nightmare Dungeons on Eternal, playing normal (non-Bloodied) dungeons. If you only want the Shield Saw, it costs just 50 currency, but if you are going for the town portal, you will need to commit to a longer grind.

The Slaughterhouse game mode, new to Season 12, is also recommended due to the increased number of Elite enemies that appear there.

What Are Doom Chests?

Doom Chests are a new type of loot container introduced specifically for the DOOM: The Dark Ages collaboration. When you slay a Lair Boss in Diablo 4, two chests can spawn at the end of the fight: the regular reward chest that belongs to the boss you just killed, and the new Doom Chest. The Doom Chest will not open until after you open the reward chest that belongs to the boss first. This was likely designed to stop players from farming Doom Chests exclusively without engaging with the normal boss reward loop.

Every time you open a Doom Chest, there is a chance for you to get a Doom Crucible transmog. The Doom Chest appears to have a very high spawn rate, with many players reporting that it spawns after every Lair Boss kill. However, the Doom Chest does not always spawn. Notably, the Beast in Ice boss is currently bugged and does not produce a Doom Chest. Every other Lair Boss has been confirmed to spawn one reliably.

How To Farm Doom Chests & Obtain All Doom Crucible Weapon Transmogs

To farm Doom Chests, you need to repeatedly kill Lair Bosses. This requires Torment difficulty, starting at Torment 1. The Doom Chest spawns alongside the boss's normal reward chest, and you must open the boss's chest first before the Doom Chest becomes available.

The most commonly recommended bosses for farming are Grigoire and Lord Zir. Grigoire is considered the easiest to farm because you can run Helltides and open chests to get Living Steel, which is the material needed to summon him. The Maiden drops Bloods for Vyr, and events in Helltides usually drop Distilled Fear for the Beast in the Ice. The rest of the boss materials usually drop from those three bosses. If you bought the Vessel of Hatred expansion, you can also run the Undercity for boss materials.

However, avoid farming the Beast in Ice specifically for Doom Chests, as that boss is currently bugged and does not have the Doom Chest. Every other boss has been confirmed to spawn both chests.

The transmogs from Doom Chests drop randomly, meaning any Lair Boss at any Torment level can drop any of the five Crucible weapon transmogs. You do not need to play different classes to collect all the weapons, as the cosmetic transmogs can drop even if they are not available to your class. One player collected all five transmogs from just Duriel in 8 to 10 runs, while others reported needing more attempts for specific pieces.

Once you receive a Crucible weapon from a Doom Chest, you need to salvage it at the Blacksmith to permanently add the transmog to your wardrobe. The transmog stays forever and can be used for both Eternal and Seasonal characters across all classes that can equip the weapon type.

Some players have noted that the Two-Handed Sword appears to be the hardest transmog to collect, with one player reporting they got it at a rate of roughly 1 in 100 Lair Boss kills, though most players have had better luck than that. If you are struggling to get a specific piece, try switching between different bosses and Torment tiers, as some players have reported better results after changing their farming location.

What Are Crucible Doom Weapons?

Doom Weapons, officially called Doom Crucible transmogs, are a set of free cosmetic weapon skins that reskin players' existing weapons to match the glowing red blade wielded by the DOOM Slayer. These transmogs are found only in Doom Chests that drop from Lair Bosses and cannot be purchased from any shop. They apply to existing weapon types in the game, meaning when you equip one, your weapon takes on the fiery red Crucible appearance from the DOOM series.

These are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay or stats in any way. Once salvaged and added to your wardrobe, the transmogs are permanent and account-wide, shared across Softcore and Hardcore, and available in both Seasonal and Eternal play.

Diablo 4 Doom Weapons List

There are a total of five Doom Crucible weapon transmogs that you can get in Season 12 from Doom Chests:

  • Crucible Blade – One-Handed Sword

  • Crucible Sword – Two-Handed Sword

  • Crucible Axe – One-Handed Axe

  • Crucible Polearm – Polearm

  • Crucible Dagger – Dagger

There are no Crucible versions of bows, two-handed axes, maces, hammers, or scythes. Some players have expressed disappointment about the absence of a Two-Handed Axe and a Scythe in particular, but these five are the only Crucible transmogs available from Doom Chests during this event.

How To Get Doom Crucible Weapons (Skins)?

To get the Doom Crucible weapon transmogs, follow these steps:

  1. First, reach Torment 1 difficulty. Lair Bosses and their Doom Chests are only available at Torment levels. If your highest character has not yet reached Torment, you will need to level up and complete the necessary progression to gain access.

  2. Second, gather Lair Boss summoning materials. The easiest approach is to run Helltides, which provide Living Steel for Grigoire, Bloods for Vyr's Maiden, and Distilled Fear for the Beast in the Ice through Helltide events. The rest of the boss materials usually drop from those three bosses as well.

  3. Third, fight Lair Bosses and open both chests. After defeating the boss, open the boss's normal reward chest first, then open the Doom Chest that spawns nearby. The Doom Chest contains an item with a Crucible transmog applied to it.

  4. Fourth, salvage the Crucible weapon at the Blacksmith. The transmog is permanently added to your wardrobe after salvaging. You can then apply the Crucible skin to any compatible weapon from the wardrobe at any time.

You can farm all five transmogs from a single boss if you wish. Players have confirmed that it does not matter which Lair Boss you fight, as the drops are random and not tied to specific bosses. Running Grigoire repeatedly is popular because his summoning materials are the easiest to stockpile through Helltide chest farming. Duriel is another strong option if you have the materials, and Lord Zir has also produced good results for many players.

The entire Crucible weapon collection can be completed relatively quickly. Some players have reported getting all five transmogs in as few as 5 to 15 Lair Boss kills, while others with less favorable luck needed 20 or more attempts. Either way, compared to the Dark Ages Currency grind for the Reliquary, farming Doom Chests for the Crucible transmogs is a much faster process.
