With the upcoming launch of the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion set for March 2nd, players are rapidly narrowing down their choices for which class to main in the new content. The Midnight Beta has given the community its first real taste of the new systems, class changes, and talent reworks, especially as they relate to Mythic+ dungeons. As class tuning continues, some specs are already making strong impressions, dominating groups and leaderboards in Mythic+ testing. If you're preparing for the next season and want to know which specs are looking strongest right now, check out our WoW Mightnight tier list for DPS, healers, and tanks in Season 1 Mythic+.
WoW Midnight M+ Tier List
Mythic+ dungeons remain one of the most popular endgame activities in World of Warcraft, challenging players to overcome increasingly difficult encounters within a time limit. With each expansion, the meta shifts as new talents, abilities, and class reworks are introduced. The Midnight Beta has shown that class balance is still being adjusted, with buffs and nerfs happening frequently. Despite this, certain specs have emerged as top contenders, performing at a level that sets them apart in early testing. While these rankings will likely evolve, the current tier list offers valuable direction for players eager to get a head start in Season 1 of Midnight.
WoW Midnight DPS Tier List for Mythic+
During the Midnight Beta, DPS rankings in Mythic+ are largely influenced by specs that are either overtuned or have received substantial improvements to their damage output and playability. The most played and highest-performing DPS specs are standing out not just for raw numbers but also for their streamlined rotations and engaging playstyles.
1. Beast Mastery Hunter (S Tier)
BM Hunter is currently way overtuned in Midnight Beta. Your pets do way too much damage. The stampede that comes from pack leader does way too much damage. Players are seeing a lot of beast mastery hunters in the majority of groups, both in lower and higher keys, because it seems to be doing really, really well. The rotation is extremely streamlined, with cleave now triggered by Wild Thrash, allowing BM to reach full damage in every trash pack with zero downtime.
2. Frost Mage (S Tier)
Frost Mages have surged in popularity, often filling multiple spots in dungeon groups. The rotation has been improved so that abilities like Frostbolt, Icelands, Flurry, and Glacial Spike no longer compete for attention, resulting in smoother gameplay. Instead of saving damage for infrequent burst windows, Frost Mages now maintain strong, repeatable bursts every minute or so, keeping their output high and steady.
3. Devourer Demon Hunter (S Tier)
As the new spec introduced in Midnight, Devourer is being tested by a huge number of players. It combines high AoE potential with impressive mobility, feeling similar to a melee spec with ranged capabilities. While its rotation is still being refined, the spec is already posting impressive numbers in both single-target and AoE scenarios, especially during Metamorphosis.
4. Elemental Shaman (S Tier)
Elemental Shaman absolutely slaps, especially in dungeons. The spec delivers the fantasy of thunders and earthquakes, and players are loving the impactful moments with abilities like Ascendance. One of the best pruning jobs ever done for a spec, Elemental now feels simple but still exciting.
5. Unholy Death Knight (S Tier)
Unholy DK is getting more and more great changes, now focused on summoning ghouls and detonating them for damage. The synergy and necromancer fantasy are at their best. Buttons are working fine, and the gameplay is both fun and effective in dungeons.
6. Balance Druid (S Tier)
Boomkins feel absolutely incredible in both the beta and the alpha, with the new Eclipse system bringing high uptime and flexibility. You can basically keep popping Eclipse almost all the time. The spec is highly favored for both its smooth rotation and high damage potential.
7. Enhancement Shaman (A Tier)
Enhancement has had a lot of its button bloat removed, with Feral Spirits now baked into the rotation. The spec feels really good, extremely streamlined, and the simplified playstyle is a big plus. Enhancement is either low S tier or high A tier depending on individual preference.
8. Fury Warrior (A Tier)
Fury Warriors are looking fun to play, and many of their keystone talents just feel right. The spec is performing well and is more appealing than Arms at the moment, though some talent changes have made the rotation feel a bit strange.
9. Retribution Paladin (A Tier)
Ret Paladins remain very popular thanks to their straightforward, rewarding playstyle. Some feel it’s a bit too pruned, but it maintains a strong presence and is considered better than BM and Fire Mage.
10. Havoc Demon Hunter (A Tier)
Havoc is reliable and fun, feeling much like previous versions. The spec is among the least changed, so those who enjoyed it before will still find it appealing now.
11. Feral Druid (A Tier)
Feral has lost some of its complexity, but snapshotting is easier and the rotation is more accessible. The removal of Blood Talons opens up the spec to more players, making it a solid pick.
12. Survival Hunter (A Tier)
Survival is performing quite well after its rework, with more dynamic play options between bomb-spamming and raptor strike-focused builds. Still, it doesn't quite match the raw output of BM.
13. Assassination Rogue (A Tier)
Assassination is currently the best Rogue spec, especially after the Crimson Tempest rework. The spec is much better to play now, with AoE and single target both in a good spot.
14. Devastation Evoker (A Tier)
Devastation Evoker, especially with Flame Shaper, can absolutely cook. The spec has been streamlined, focusing on Dragon Rage and making burst windows very satisfying. With double Fire Breath charges and explosive AoE, Devastation is a force in dungeons.
15. Marksmanship Hunter (A Tier)
Marksmanship feels much improved for functionality, especially with Dark Ranger builds. However, the damage is lower than BM and Survival, so players are flocking to the other specs.
16. Arcane Mage (A Tier)
Arcane is quite okay, with less complexity and a smoother rotation. Some conflicting talents remain, but overall it’s better than previous iterations.
17. Affliction Warlock (B Tier)
Affliction is a little more complex but in a much better state after pruning and simplification. The spec is now focused on DoTs, with malefic rapture gone. Damage is fine, though the loss of its old AoE nuke is felt by some.
18. Augmentation Evoker (B Tier)
Augmentation is still popular for its group buffs and simplified gameplay. While it’s not the dominant force it was in Dragonflight Season 2, it’s still a good pick in high-end dungeons.
19. Shadow Priest (B Tier)
Shadow Priest is visually amazing and single target is quite strong. The recent changes to dot extension have improved the spec, making it much more viable for Mythic+. Still, it sits between A and B tier depending on player preference.
20. Frost Death Knight (B Tier)
Frost DK is simple and functional, with a very clean rotation. It’s outshined by Unholy, but still a solid option for those who prefer its playstyle.
21. Demonology Warlock (B Tier)
Demonology is controversial. The AoE rotation is fun with frequent Implosions, but single target becomes too basic due to the imp cap. Still, it sits in a decent spot for dungeon play.
22. Destruction Warlock (B Tier)
Destruction has been simplified a bit and remains a solid pick for those who prefer direct damage and less complexity. Chaos Bolt builds are described as blasting, with fat bolts doing a lot of work.
23. Subtlety Rogue (B Tier)
Subtlety is harder to master than Assassination and has lost some of its burst flavor. It remains viable but is not as welcoming or rewarding as before.
24. Outlaw Rogue (B Tier)
Outlaw is heavily simplified and has lost much of its unique flavor. It is functional but less engaging than its previous versions.
25. Arms Warrior (B Tier)
Arms is in a tough spot after losing iconic abilities and being forced into choice nodes. The rotation is not as enjoyable or effective as Fury, but it is still serviceable.
26. Windwalker Monk (C Tier)
Windwalker has lost key abilities like Storm, Earth, and Fire, which has made it feel off for many. The rotation feels weird, and the playstyle is less rewarding than before.
27. Fire Mage (C Tier)
Fire Mage has been pruned so much that it feels bland and lacks the fun moments that made it great. The spec is not enjoyable in its current state, and most mages have abandoned it for Frost.
WoW Midnight Healer Tier List for Mythic+
Healer popularity and performance in Midnight Beta closely mirror what is seen on live servers, with only minor shifts in ranking. Healing isn't being driven solely by raw throughput but also by familiarity and overall group utility.
1. Restoration Druid (S Tier)
Restoration druid is currently the most played healing spec in Midnight beta Mythic+ dungeons. This follows the same trend seen on live servers, where resto druid remains the meta healer. Players have consistently gravitated towards druids for their adaptability, strong healing throughput, and mobility. The current meta status of resto druid is reflected in the fact that, out of all the healers being tested, this spec sits at the top in terms of popularity. One passage directly points out that if you look at the popularity of healers in the Midnight beta, resto druid is at the head of the pack.
2. Discipline Priest (S Tier)
Discipline priest finds itself placed just behind resto druid. In fact, the spec is even more prominent in the beta than it has been on live servers. The text explains that discipline is much higher in representation compared to live, and this is not a surprise given how discipline has performed well in Mythic+ throughout the expansion. The narrative notes that just because druid is the meta spec now doesn’t mean discipline suddenly became weak. Players are opting for discipline because of its reliable toolkit, and the beta population reflects that confidence.
3. Restoration Shaman (S Tier)
Restoration shaman takes the third spot. This spec is described as following closely behind discipline priest, and it mirrors the current live environment where resto shaman is solid but not at the very top. The passage notes that restoration shaman is just below the first two, continuing its trend as a steady and dependable option for groups. Its toolkit is well-rounded, and shaman remains reliable for healing through the varied damage patterns of Mythic+ dungeons.
4. Holy Paladin (A Tier)
Holy paladin is mentioned as being just below the favored trio of druids, discipline priests, and shamans. In the beta, holy paladin sits in the middle tier of popularity, not quite rivaling the top three but still present in many groups. The text says holy paladin is found below the most played healers, and this order is very similar to what is seen on live servers.
5. Mistweaver Monk (A Tier)
Mistweaver monk is also grouped in this mid-tier, alongside holy paladin. The original description places mistweaver just beneath the three most played specs, sharing this lower-middle spot with holy paladin. These healers have their dedicated players, but they are chosen less frequently than druids, discipline priests, or shamans.
6. Holy Priest (B Tier)
Holy priest appears lower down in terms of representation, both in the beta and on live realms. The passage says that holy priest is seen in the lower ranks, and this is consistent with its current live position. While holy priest brings solid healing output, it seems to be overshadowed by the versatility and tools of other healers.
7. Preservation Evoker (B Tier)
Preservation evoker rounds out the healer rankings, holding the lowest spot in terms of play rate for Mythic+ dungeons. According to the text, preservation evoker is found at the bottom, mirroring its position in live content. The beta shows little divergence from the established healer order, with preservation evoker trailing the others in popularity.
The healer meta in the beta has not seen major surprises, with most specs being played in similar proportions as before. The main exception is the increased presence of Discipline Priest, which has historically performed well in Mythic+.
WoW Midnight Tank Tier List for Mythic+
Tank rankings in the Midnight Beta have shifted considerably, primarily due to changes in damage output and new talents. Tanks as a whole are doing more damage than expected, with some even matching or surpassing DPS specs in certain keys.
1. Blood Death Knight (S Tier)
Blood Death Knight has become the most played tank by a large margin in the Midnight beta for Mythic+. This is a reversal from live servers, where Blood is not usually the meta tank. The text notes that there is a gigantic gulf in favor of Blood Death Knight, and putting Guardian Druid, Protection Warrior, and Brewmaster Monk together barely matches its play rate. The reason behind Blood DK’s surge is that it currently does super high DPS, matching or beating half the DPS specs in the beta. This tank is benefiting from the Sunlane hero talent, new talents that provide a three-target AOE Death Strike, and strong synergy around Dancing Rune Weapon. These factors result in a playstyle that not only excels at survivability but also outputs immense damage, making Blood the overwhelming favorite so far.
2. Vengeance Demon Hunter (A Tier)
Vengeance Demon Hunter holds a strong position, especially due to the changes to the Annihilator hero talent. The spec is described as one of the tanks capable of reaching DPS numbers that rival actual DPS specs, particularly in the 50–60k range in 10+ keys. Even though some recent changes have brought nerfs to damage and cooldown reduction interactions, the core gameplay loop remains engaging and rewarding. The ability to generate burst damage with spirit bomb and meteor strikes, the dynamic meta window, and the feedback loop around soul fragments make Vengeance a very fun and potent choice. The text highlights that, despite nerfs, the class is still extremely enjoyable and packs a punch.
3. Brewmaster Monk (A Tier)
Brewmaster Monk is grouped in the middle tier alongside Guardian Druid and Protection Warrior. The recent updates to the Shadow Pan hero talent, such as shifting Flurry Strikes to be based on keg smashes, have made the spec more engaging and less reliant on attack power scaling. Brewmaster is currently performing very well, with the Shadow Pan build feeling much improved compared to Master of Harmony. Tanks like Brewmaster are able to deliver high burst AOE damage, with the gameplay described as feeling really good right now. Bugs still exist, but overall, Brewmaster is a solid and popular pick. Brewmaster Monk, Guardian Druid, and Protection Warrior together just about match the play rate of Blood Death Knight, reflecting their shared popularity but also showing they cannot compete with Blood’s dominance.
4. Guardian Druid (B Tier)
Guardian Druid, sharing the mid-tier with Brewmaster Monk and Protection Warrior, has gotten a series of impactful changes. The spec has received new talents that add absorb shields and more passive healing, making it feel tankier and more forgiving. The Wild Guardian rework now provides immediate benefits after using cooldowns, while new talents like Dream Guide and Natural Resilience improve group utility and survivability. However, Guardian Druid is also described as more stale compared to other tanks, and its playstyle hasn't evolved as much. Despite these criticisms, Guardian is still seeing a lot of play in the beta, in part due to the high damage tanks are currently capable of, but it does not reach the popularity or raw output of Blood DK or Vengeance.
5. Protection Warrior (B Tier)
Protection Warrior is seeing steady play but is firmly in the middle of the pack. The spec’s current hero talent trees offer good synergy, especially with the Colossus path, which focuses on shield slam, critical strikes, and bleed effects. The feedback loop for Colossus is praised, and it is considered very close to S-tier in terms of fun and damage output. However, the Mountain King path is seen as less engaging, with a rotation that lacks excitement and relies on procs that can feel too random. The overall impression is positive, particularly for the Colossus build, but Protection Warrior does not stand out as either the most popular or the most powerful in the current beta environment.
6. Protection Paladin (C Tier)
Protection Paladin rounds out the list. The spec has not received major changes recently, and while it features a solid feedback loop built around Judgment, Avenger’s Shield, and Shield of the Righteous, the beta feedback points to a bugged and less rewarding experience. The Templar hero talent path is described as fun but buggy, preventing an accurate sense of its high-key performance. The Lightsmith path fares better, offering more utility and burst, but Paladin overall is not seeing the same play rate as other tanks. While still capable and with some strong moments, Protection Paladin is trailing others in both popularity and practical strength during this phase of the beta.
All tanks are performing above expected damage levels, but the unique synergy and new talents of Blood DK have pushed it to the top for now.
