With the release of the New World July and August Patch and with our anticipation of it growing, as well, it was a good time to make a guide for all of you out there who are excited about the new profession. We are of course talking about musicians. In this New World 0-200 musician leveling guide, we talk about the fastest way to level up your music skill.

New World Musician Leveling Guide 0-200 - How To Level Up Music Skill Fast In New World

The musician in New World is not so much a bard, at least not in terms of what we have grown used to in modern MMOs. It has no combat ability or abilities at all for that matter. It doesn't heal or provide much in the way of support. It is more of a flavor profession that offers unique cool buffs which are nice. While taking part in the New World Summer Medleyfaire Festival, they are incorporating cool world game mechanics associated with it. That said New World musician profession is fun and it will offer hours of laughs and good times with friends.

How To Play Music in New World?  

First, you will want to have a musical instrument equipped obviously. Just like fishing, you will hit the f5 key by default on your keyboard. This will take out and ready your musician UI. From here, you will then select the song you will be wanting to play. You press r and this will open your song selection menu. From here you will be able to select the difficulty of the song you are wanting to play. It is important to know that you must have the correct instrument equipped as well as have learned all of the pages of the song selected to play it. You will then choose the buff you would like to receive. You will select them from these 6 buffs.

- Decidedly dexterous will increase your gathering speed.

- Territorial triumph increases your territory standing bonus.

- All together now increases group XP sharing bonus.

- Song in your step will reduce player encumbrance.

- Fortune's favor increases yield when gathering.

- Lux labor increases luck when gathering.

How To Unlock 6 Music Buffs In New World

You won't however have access to all of these buffs right away you will have to unlock them as you progress into the musical profession. These will unlock at the following levels.

- Decidedly dexterous you will receive at level 2.

- Territorial triumph unlocks at level 5. 

- All together now unlocks at 25.

- Song in your step unlocks at 75.

- Fortune's favor unlocks at 100.

- Lux labor unlocks at 150. 

Then you simply click perform and you're off. This will bring up a sheet music ui and you will see notes floating down in the form of keys a, s, d, spacebar, mouse, button stuff like that. You will need to press the key at the correct moment in order to successfully perform the note. After you've successfully received a music buff, it will last for one hour. But you can only have one music buff on your character at one time, so no you can't stack them from different musicians.

New World Sheet Music

Sheet music is required to learn to play the songs that are available to you to play in New World. There are different sheet music collections associated with different instruments. These music sheets can be gathered through killing mobs and picking up their drops. Chests are all over the map in all types and as quest rewards, they are also sellable. So you can farm them to sell to other musicians or buy them from the market to complete your collections. Many of the songs in New World will require you to gather multiple sheets of music to be able to play them. You will know how many based on the number of pages when you mess over the sheet.

So you will need to keep in mind that in order to play a song, you will need to collect all of the pages associated with this song. Once you have them collected, you learn them by salvaging them just like cooking recipes. So there's going to be many hours spent collecting sheet music for those completionists out there.

New World Instruments

The next important aspect of being a successful musician is of course your instrument. There are five types of instruments available to musicians in the New World August update.

- The drum

- The flute

- The guitar

- The mandolin

- The upright bass

Each instrument has its own collection of sheet music. But be aware that many instruments are song specific, meaning that you can't simply play any song on any instrument. There are tiers of musical instruments just like there are weapons in New World. You will find them in four tiers.

- Apprentice is tier two and it will come with two perks.

- Musician is tier three and they will come with three perks.

- Composer is tier four and it comes with four perks.

- Virtuoso is tier five and it has five perks.

How To Get Instruments In New World

You will craft these using your workshop and the furniture profession. There are only two ways to get instruments in the world as of the July update and that is either through questing or by crafting, they do not drop. However, during the New World August Medley Fair event, you have a unique opportunity to get some from the maestro shop. There are as well some instrument skins so be sure to do that. Unlike weapons, armor, or jewelry we craft in New World, instruments have guaranteed tier quality rare epic legendary for example, and the lower tiered instruments are required to craft the higher tier as a material. Much like how it works when we craft trophies. There are no perk items associated with instruments, the perks are completely random and generated upon crafting.

Some of the best perks on instruments for leveling music to look for are for solo leveling spotlight. This perk gives you a 10% experience boost while playing solo. The ensemble is best for group leveling if you plan on playing in groups, this will give you a 10% increase in music experience when playing in a group. And the perk fanfare hitting a perfect note as your final note will reward a 10% experience boost. Another great perk is the opening act, this will make your first three notes always perfect that you play. The last perk that we recommend for music leveling in New World is a second chance. This makes it so the first missed note is ignored for your final score.

Level this unique trade skill quite simply by playing music. You are going to take a moment to answer some of the most common questions. The amount of experience you will gain while playing music in a group will not be increased or decreased or affected in any way by the size of the group that you're in. A group of two or a group of five or a group of three all will be the same amount of experience gains. However, the amount of experience gained when a song is played in a group is increased but not by much. You will always gain more music experience per song if you play more difficult songs. The more often while playing you hit perfect notes will increase the total experience reward after the song is played. The length of a song has no impact on the number of experiences the song rewards. There's nothing special here other than playing songs.

To max level in music, we will roughly have to play 18 000 songs on expert level. This won't be something we can grind out in the afternoon that's for sure. Luckily you unlock everything musician has to offer in terms of buffs by 150 musician skills. So to unlock all buffs you need to play around 7 200 songs at the expert level. This is not something anyone's going to do on the first day, it will take time and patience. Considering this training comes at no cost in terms of New World coin or farming, it's simply playing music

Best Songs For Music Leveling In New World

Let's have a look at some of the most efficient songs to play because just like any other trade skill there is always the best way to do things. The expert blacksmith arm on the base of drums and the expert windward inn on the guitar bass or the drums are great for leveling music because they have multiple parts and are quite short to play. The shorter the song, the faster we can play more of them. But honestly in a trade skill like this, if you're enjoying what you're playing play that. It's all going to level you the same way. After you finally max musician which will be a ways off, there are aptitude crates associated with this skill as well just like any other. From there, you will receive sheets of music mats for crafting, instruments, gems, and more.
