Path of Exile Harbinger's Orb Wiki & Tips

The Harbinger's Orb is an item in the game Path of Exile. It is used to modify maps by adding additional Harbinger monster packs to them. When used, the Harbinger's Orb upgrades a map into a Harbinger map, increasing the difficulty and rewarding players with additional loot and experience.

What Are the Advantages of Harbinger's Orb in Path of Exile?

Using Harbinger's Orb adds more excitement, challenge, and potential rewards to the mapping experience in Path of Exile. The advantages of using Harbinger's Orb in Path of Exile include:

  • -Increased Difficulty: Converting a map into a Harbinger map adds extra challenge to gameplay, as Harbinger monster packs are known for their unique abilities and mechanics.

  • -Additional Loot: Harbinger monster packs have an increased chance to drop valuable items, including unique items and POE currency. This can lead to better rewards and potentially higher profits.

  • -Experience Gain: Defeating Harbinger monsters grants additional experience, which can help players level up faster and progress through the game more efficiently.

  • -League Mechanics: Harbinger league mechanics, such as fighting Harbinger bosses and interacting with their shards, provide unique gameplay experiences and opportunities for further rewards.

What is the best way to use Harbinger's Orb when making advanced items in Path of Exile?

When using Harbinger's Orb to create advanced items in Path of Exile, the best way to maximize its potential is through a process called "Harbinger Crafting." By following these steps, you can make use of Harbinger's Orb and the associated Harbinger mechanics to acquire valuable items and currency, ultimately enhancing your crafting endeavors in Path of Exile. Here's a general guide on how to use Harbinger's Orb effectively:

  • 1. Acquire a desired base item: Obtain the base item that you wish to upgrade or craft. This could be a weapon, armor, or accessory.

  • 2. Roll and identify a high-tier map: Use an Orb of Horizons to roll a high-tier map of your choice. Run the map until you find a Harbinger monster pack.

  • 3. Upgrade the map to a Harbinger map: Use the Harbinger's Orb on the identified high-tier map to convert it into a Harbinger map. This will add Harbinger monster packs to the map.

  • 4. Defeat the Harbingers: Clear the Harbinger map and defeat the Harbinger packs. They have a chance to drop valuable items and currency.

  • 5. Obtain Harbinger shards: Collect Harbinger shards as drops from the Harbingers. These shards can be combined to create specific unique items or used in other crafting recipes.

  • 6. Trade or use Harbinger shards: Depending on your goals, you can either trade the Harbinger shards for desired items or use them in specific crafting recipes to create advanced items.

Harbinger's Orb Recipe PoE

The Harbinger's Orb recipe in Path of Exile is:

20 Harbinger shards/vessels = 1 Harbinger's Orb

To complete this recipe:

  • Collect 20 Harbinger shards or vessels (the small blue currency items that drop from Harbinger mobs)

  • Right click the recipe book in your items tab (obtained by completing the First Blood quest)

  • Drag the 20 Harbinger shards/vessels into the recipe area

  • Click "Create" to combine them and receive 1 Harbinger's Orb

Some key points:

  • Shards and vessels can be mixed - it just needs to total 20

  • Completing this recipe is a great way to accumulate Harbinger's Orbs over time as you map

  • Stash extra shards/vessels so you can always cash them in for Orbs when the recipe is complete

  • The recipe produces basic non-ilvl related Orbs - you still need to get lucky for high tier ilvl ones

What Happens When Harbinger's Orb is used on T16?

When a Harbinger's Orb is used on a tier 16 map, it has a chance to upgrade the map to a tier 17 version. Here are some more details:

  • Tier 17 maps are called yellow tinted maps. They are higher level versions of some existing maps.

  • Using a Harbinger's Orb on a t16 has a 50% chance to upgrade it to t17. The other 50% is nothing happens.

  • If upgraded, the map will gain +1 to all stats (item quantity, pack size, etc.), but keep the same layout.

  • Monster levels inside will increase to 83, matching maps like Paradoxica and Cemetary.

  • Completing a t17 does not unlock anything special or new. It just provides a more challenging version of an existing map boss/mobs.

  • The t17 version cannot be sustained indefinitely through Atlas passive tree bonuses like regular maps.

  • Once all t17 versions of a map are completed, subsequent Harbinger's Orbs on that base map will not roll higher.

How to Get Harbinger's Orb in Path of Exile?

Always remember that drop rates can vary, and acquiring Harbinger's Orbs may require some patience, trading, or engagement with league-specific content. In Path of Exile, there are a few ways to obtain Harbinger's Orbs:

  • -Drop from Harbinger encounters: Harbingers can spawn randomly throughout the game world, especially in maps. Defeating them has a chance to drop Harbinger's Orbs along with other items.

  • -Harbinger-themed leagues: During certain leagues or challenge leagues, specific mechanics or events related to Harbingers are introduced. Completing league-specific challenges or engaging in league activities can reward you with Harbinger's Orbs.

  • -Trade: Harbinger's Orbs can be obtained through player-to-player trading. Players who have acquired these orbs can put them up for sale on various in-game trading platforms, and you can purchase them using your in-game currency or items.

  • -Divination Cards: Some divination cards, which can be collected and traded in for specific items, may grant Harbinger's Orbs as a reward. Keep an eye out for these cards while playing and consider farming for them if you're specifically looking for Harbinger's Orbs.
